West Brom may seem an unlikely source of end of season Fantasy talent but, form and a batch of favourable fixtures for the Baggies over the final four gameweeks undoubtedly make them well worthy of consideration. Roy Hodgson’s side have hit the 40 point-mark and, while they are mathematically still not clear of relegation from the Premier League, the club’s outstanding recent run of form suggests otherwise.

One defeat in nine matches since Hodgson’s appointment has seen them average two goals per game, a big difference from the previous 31 goals in 25 games under Roberto Di Matteo. Considering they have one clean sheet all season, it’s fair to say West Brom have been reliant on the men up front to fire them to top-flight safety and luckily for Hodgson, he has the services of Peter Odemwingie to rely upon.

Odemwingie has had a dream debut season in the Premier League and with (AVL, wol, EVE, new) still to come, there’s surely some more goals in the Nigerian’s boots between now and the end of the season. The “Hodgson Effect” has had a big impact on his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points output, too; he averaged a respectable 4.6 points per game (ppg) under Di Matteo, but has soared to 6.4ppg since Roy’s arrival.

While Charlie Adam has been hailed as the Fantasy bargain of the season, a look at Value (Season) in FPL shows Odemwingie has matched the Blackpool man, with both top on 28. Adam is owned by 35.4% of FPL teams but Odemwingie stars in just 12.1%, despite a ridiculously low price of 5.4.

As many Fantasy Managers look to get rid of double gameweek 34 players and with the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal all facing some tricky upcoming fixtures, a transfer-in for Odemwingie almost seems like a no-brainer; 4 goals, 4 assists and 8 Bonus Points in his last 5 games (a run including clashes with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea) marks him as the in-form forward in the Premier League right now and a budget-friendly bargain at that.

Really not sure who to captain this weekend, got both Kuyt and Suarez, but thinking maybe Yaya or Lampard might be decent differentials based on my rival's side. He's 50 points ahead but I've gained a lot of ground until this gameweek where we both got the same amount. Thoughts?

I think the reason for it is that they're excited there's a new young talent in the game with a bit of verve to his game.

Snooker is a pale imitation of what it was 10 years ago when you had Williams, Hendry, Hunter, Stevens, O'Sullivan and (pre fat cheat) Higgins all playing great stuff.

Dott, that lardy, charisma-less bell-end Murphy, the other Scottish cheat with the harelip, Ali Carter. This is a list of reasons to turn off the TV.

Of all the clubs in the world the term "utterly deplorable" doesnt come to mind with Barce when they actually invest in charity work and there Manager has extreme class.

Yes i know every team does charity work, to call them deplorable cos when you were 15 they knocked your favorite team out is irrational.

Peps class - not really subjective since the ho hay of him actually saying something for once on tuesday - for the first time in his career. Or the fact he never ever complains when they lose.

UNICEF is their short cut to actually getting a sponsor too big a jump to go straight to having a sponsor next step will be a normal shirt sponsor with half going to charity. Small steps to normal shirt sponsor.

Apparently Messi is above all that diving nonsense, or so we're led to believe. Doesn't look like it on the evidence of that clip....

He also never waves the imaginary card. False. He did so in the league game at the Bernbeu after Marcelo handballed it. And then Gerry Armstrong had the nerve to actually praise him for doing so, despite routinely slaughtering the Real players for doing the same. Can you believe that? He actually said that he was 'pleased' that Messi did it. Pathetic.

That is embarrassing. Im talking about Barcelona. Seeing it all in slow motion. Busquets is particularly a joke. I agree with JP, Utd to win, and it pains me to say that!

That little clip of Pepe actually makes the offence look worse.

While it shows no contact, it looks more like Pepe is actually trying to kick Alves, rather than go for the ball.

Not that I blame him for trying to kick Alves, of course.

          I'd say you are.

However, I can understand why the ref did it, because Alves did well making it look like Pepe followed through. Unfortunate that it cost them the tie.

Yellow card for me, but I can see why it was given. Initially I thought it was a red, but we get to see a replay, the ref doesn't. So I can absolutely understand the red card.

it's a bit of a grey area i think. yes it's a high foot but the foot is no higher than the ball? how can you get the ball without lifting your foot off the ground when the ball is in the air? i think it was a light shade of orange, a valid case for a red but more of a case for a yellow 😉

just watched the graham hunter interview on SSN. good viewing. the final point perhaps made me think the most. he was giving the view of guillerme ballague that real madrid had a plan which mourinho was extremely passionate about and he truly believed would take them to wembley. the plan was draw barcelona onto them, let them tire and have the confidence in his defence to be compact and organised enough keep them out. then in the final twenty minutes bring on kaka, benzema and higuain (the trio who scored 6 against valencia on the weekend) and let those three rip into barcelona. the red card right or wrong took that chocie away from mourinho, therefore completely destroying mourinho's dream, his plan B was never going to anywhere near as dangerous, merely a desperate attempt at containing and ronaldo maanaging to sneka one at the other end with a moment of individual brilliance.
so there you go mourinho had a plan that he feels was wrongly taken away from him and due to sheer passion for his ideas and heat of the moment he reacted so furiously and let himself down with conspiracy theories etc.
who knows? all i know is i'm warming to graham hunter, my only criticism of him used to be i thought he was a bit arrogant, nah he just knows his stuff when it comes to spanish football on and off the pitch

They tried their hardest in 2005 as well, with Drogba's sending off in the first leg, but we managed to overcome them in spite of that.

He still considers himself a part of Chelsea, so you can count 2009 in there as well.

So Mourinho didn't have abysmal decisions go against him in each of those years then..... 🙄

Mourinho first raised the issue of a UEFA bias towards Barcelona back in 2005, and nothing has happened since then to make those claims look foolish. They've actually reinforced his point IMO.

"They’ve actually reinforced his point IMO."

Yes because you are extremely biased, are ignoring all the counter evidence and not taking into account the fact Barcelona have a standard of team they will play more games, win more, be involved in more incidents due to there method of play.

You will look back and cringe at this page one day. Mark my words.

"mourinho raised uefa bias in 2005" Oh was that when he felt that his team was going to lose, same old story from Jose , if he loses its a conspiracy,

Maybe the correlation between Barcelona being involved so many times is the fact they have the best teams and Jose loves to peddle nonsense.

For every thing you want to present as evidence (which is nothing yet) there are as much if not more showing the opposite.

refs are incompetent, Barcelona have the best team in last 5 years get to latter stages, yes they dive, Jose is a terrible excuse for a man using every slimey trick he can to deflect from his inability to accept defeat.
"So Mourinho didn’t have abysmal decisions go against him in each of those years then"

No one is saying that. Every team has them. He also had his fair share go for him . Namely last year and as manager of Porto .

He has no problem until its on the other foot.

                  ....yes haha an essay

Ovrebo was a man completely out of his depth.

He made one error to begin with and then instead of correcting it let it snowball to allow others , His conduct in letting this grow meant he lost complete authority and became the centre of attention.

It also didnt help that you had a game not only with a terrible ref but with so many more than usual incidents that should have been given he prob thought "oh no way can these all be pens it isnt normal"

He didnt look at each one individually. The man was terrible at his job. Its an easy conclusion to make.

What about right at the end? He had a perfect opportunity to correct all the wrongs - which even you acknowledge that he surely knew he'd made - with our 5th (fifth!) clear penalty. But he didn't, because doing so would have sent Barca packing. And we just can't be having that.

It's still a dumb argument. Why did Abdial get sent off for no good reason? And why did Henry get denied a perfectly good penalty in the first leg? If UEFA wanted Chelsea out, they seemed to leave a lot to chance, Iniesta's goal came in what, the 92nd minute?

it was funny how Jose got so many decisions his way with Inter vs. Barca last season.

Chelsea have a right to feel hard done by, and Barca do get a lot of decisions in their favour, but there's no conspiracy.

they're essentially just the Man United of Europe.

Perhaps the word conspiracy isn't the right word. I don't for a second think that UEFA officials meet, with referees, in secret locations to discuss how best to get Barca into the latter stages of the Champions League, namely the final.

I do however, think that the top dogs at UEFA want Barcelona (as well as not Chelsea/a team managed by Mourinho) in the final of the CL. Because they are the best team in the world, provide an entertaining spectacle (usually) and everybody apparently loves them. This then filters down to the refs who are conscious that the powers that be want Barcelona to progress, and in the split second where they have to make a decision, it affects their judgement. Much like, as you point out, referees in this country give decisions in United's favour because they are the biggest club in the country and they are scared of upsetting Ferguson.

Conspiracy isn't the right phrase, perhaps 'inherent bias' is.

Would you, get Kuyt in for Nani this week and bench Dudley Campbell. Or, get VDV in for Nani in preparation for the DGW, bench him this week and Play DJ Campbell?

I doubt Rooney,Valencia,Hernandez will play GW38 with the CL game. The league should be wrapped up by then and Fergie might give a run out to the younger players and ones who might be on the way out, Berba, Owen, Obertan etc..

Valencia needs 10 appearances for a medal, so he certainly will.

I am considering an 8pt hit this week:

    A.Cole -> Lescott
    Ethers -> Silva
    Zamora -> Odem

(Could do Nani -> Kuyt instead of losing Zamora)

Is it a bit over the top, I can do the last 2 transfers without the top one but if im gonna bring in a city defender surely I should do it before WHM at home?

Yeah suppose so, the way I am thinking though is

1)Chelsea will more than likely concede

2)City will more than likely keep a clean sheet.. If thats the case then I break even over the gameweek..

3)After breaking even I then will have a City player in place for the rest of the season while Chelsea play United next week..
