West Brom may seem an unlikely source of end of season Fantasy talent but, form and a batch of favourable fixtures for the Baggies over the final four gameweeks undoubtedly make them well worthy of consideration. Roy Hodgson’s side have hit the 40 point-mark and, while they are mathematically still not clear of relegation from the Premier League, the club’s outstanding recent run of form suggests otherwise.

One defeat in nine matches since Hodgson’s appointment has seen them average two goals per game, a big difference from the previous 31 goals in 25 games under Roberto Di Matteo. Considering they have one clean sheet all season, it’s fair to say West Brom have been reliant on the men up front to fire them to top-flight safety and luckily for Hodgson, he has the services of Peter Odemwingie to rely upon.

Odemwingie has had a dream debut season in the Premier League and with (AVL, wol, EVE, new) still to come, there’s surely some more goals in the Nigerian’s boots between now and the end of the season. The “Hodgson Effect” has had a big impact on his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points output, too; he averaged a respectable 4.6 points per game (ppg) under Di Matteo, but has soared to 6.4ppg since Roy’s arrival.

While Charlie Adam has been hailed as the Fantasy bargain of the season, a look at Value (Season) in FPL shows Odemwingie has matched the Blackpool man, with both top on 28. Adam is owned by 35.4% of FPL teams but Odemwingie stars in just 12.1%, despite a ridiculously low price of 5.4.

As many Fantasy Managers look to get rid of double gameweek 34 players and with the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal all facing some tricky upcoming fixtures, a transfer-in for Odemwingie almost seems like a no-brainer; 4 goals, 4 assists and 8 Bonus Points in his last 5 games (a run including clashes with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea) marks him as the in-form forward in the Premier League right now and a budget-friendly bargain at that.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Out: Carroll - In: Odemwingie

A good move or does anyone think if Carroll plays he'll bag a few goals?

Thinking of doing Jarvis and Adam/Walters > Toure Yaya and Kuyt this week for a 4 point hit

Is it worth another hit to bring in Odemwingie for Sturridge? In the risk he's injured. I'm not too sure about it as even though odemwingie is in top form, sturridge is also playing well.

no need for hits imo. Wait for some news on sturridge. If he's fit do jarvis -> silva/yaya. If he's still doubtful do sturridge -> odem and bench jarvis. Next week you should probably try to get vdv.

Hi guys, just to let you know that http://www.ratemyteam.co.uk has been updated just now taking into account the latest team news. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out! If you have, then we're interested to know what you think of the site especially with a view to making the site better for the start of the 2011/2012 season.
Our current captain choice page, http://ratemyteam.co.uk/bestofweek.php, has Suarez as top pick closely followed by Silva, Lampard, Kuyt and Balotelli.
    Cheers 🙂

What do you take into account to decide expected points?

The two biggest factors are how likely the player is to play and how many goals/assists/bonus they are expected to get. Basically, Liverpool are expected to get around 1.75 goals this weekend against Newcastle and Suarez is their most likely goalscorer (especially with Carroll a big doubt for the weekend) and also a likely assister and bonus getter. There's also minor factors such as yellow cards, but as Suarez is a forward, he is not that likely to get a booking or a sending off. There's no guarantees that he will get a high score and it's almost certain, somebody will do better than him this week but, in my opinion, he's a really captain choice this week. (I'm still not going to get him though, need to save my transfers for City players)

Ok cheers. I was wondering if you factor in things like malouda does really well against mid/lower table teams at stamford bridge but he's not much chop away or against harder teams? For instance I'd expect malouda to outscore lampard in gw37 vs newcastle but I'd back lampard vs tot and utd. Or do you mainly go off ppg and form regardless of opposition?

Things like what you've described with Malouda are not included. Mainly because it's very hard to show statistically that those kind of things need to be included but if you think you should add it on, then do. It's something we might look at, but in general we assume a player doesn't have preffered opposition, except for the fact that they prefer to play less good teams! Also, we've added an about page http://ratemyteam.co.uk/about.php which tries to explain a bit about what we do. Hope that helps!

Also, I think I'm right in thinking in closer games, like derbies and really important top of the table clashes, you get a higher ratio of penalties to goals, which goes a bit of the way to explain the Lampard/Malouda thing. Currently, as we think it's such a small effect, we haven't included it yet. But, after a bit of research, we might add it on.

    Cech
    Bardsley, Johnson R, Huth
    Nani, Adam, Lampard, Dempsey(C) (Ferguson)
    Drogba, Van Persie, Odemwingie

I was thinking of Dempsey > Yaya & Ferguson > Kuyt
    Drogba > ?????? (10.2 to spend)

I'm finally dropping Nani as far too much rotation at OT now Valencia is back, all my rivals have him and I have an 80 point differential to make up in only 4 weeks.

Went from joint 1st to 3rd in my ML this week, 11 points behind 2nd and 22 points leader, own fault for gambling on Zamora (c) 🙁

Team for this GW currently is:
    Foster
    Luiz, Coleman, Walker
A Young, Nani, VDV, Adam, Yaya
    Drogba, RVP

    Subs: Mignolet, Zamora, Huth, Simpson

Already done Nasri to Yaya but was also considering for a 4 point hit
    a) Adam to Kuyt (differential as both 1st and 2nd have Adam)
    b) Zamora to Suarez (bench Adam or Nani)
    c) Wait until next week

    Any opinions welcomed, thanks guys?

    Should I:

    B) O’Hara -> Yaya (no hit)
    C) Dempsey -> Silva (no hit)
    D) Fabs -> Silva (no hit)
    E) Dempsey/Fabs -> Silva, Sturridge -> Odem (4 pt hit)

Cheers, I had considered that option, and will consider it again. The only issue is that I will bring in a MCY defender next week, along with VDV, and don't really want 3 MCY players.

The Sturridge doubt is annoying as I had brought him in last week to keep to the end of the season.

Valencia, two CHS defenders, Dempsey and Sturridge all make little appeal tbh.
Try to avoid this Citeh buy in that's going on-their players average 2-4 pts per game and only one is needed imo.
It's too late now to start buying in defenders so you may as well pick the "flavour of the week" which amounts to Odemwingy, Kuyt or a Citeh (I tend to favour Yaya over Silva).

Valencia rotation risk and toughening fix.
Only play one defender from each team not two.
Dempsey is just Mr 4 pt Average and now FUL have Bo Diddles to play for, makes little appeal.
Sturridge-check on injury front but very hard to put him ahead of Oddwodd.

Base your transfer/s on how you see the games going this week.
              ARS/MAN U looks a tight one.
Citeh should put 2-3 past W Ham but who you go with is up in the air tbh and not worth the risk imo. The plus is that you will have that player for the dgw afterwards.
WBA and LIV players make far more appeal. Kuyt and Oddy would be my choices. Possibly Suarez too if you don't have Roonpig/RVP/Odd fwd line right now.
Captaincy comes down to Lmapard, Odd and Kuyt/Suarez this week I feel.

Nice score last week so best of luck for another good one 😉

Very happy with last week's haul. This is my first season and have really enjoyed it. I have taken too many hits but I would be thrilled with a top 5,000 finish.

You make some interesting points. I agree that the ARS game will be a tight one which is why two of my options included getting rid of a Arsenal player. I am now going to consider Valencia as a possible sale too.

    Alright guys, settled on this:
    Cech (Sczecny)
    Lescott - R.Johnson - Luiz (Walker, Evatt)
    Silva - Lampard - Adam - Barton
    Suarez (C) - RVP - Rooney.

Should do well, Dempsey fakkin killed me with his 18pointer.

there are lot of captain choices this week and depends who u have in ur team:
SUAREZ-liverpool are the in-form team atm and altho he didn't get many points when l'pool scored 5 but he still one the best choices to captain this week because he is usually involved in every attack and gets bp in almost every game....
LAMPS-he don't have to play well to score well and he is on pens and likely to get bp whenever he scores or assist...
DROGS-playing against leaky spurs defence and he is on set-pieces for chelsea atm along with malouda which is surprising and altho he didn't play well last week as he showed in the dgw that he can still score big so he is not a bad choice either...only risk is that he might play alongside torres which may not be good for him...
KUYT-on pens and on form atm and if carroll miss out he will play as a forward again which will be a bonus and he is even more likely to score a goal...
MALOUDA-on form and getting lots of points lately but if chelsea play 4-4-2 it might hamper his points haul...
SILVA-at home against bottom side west ham and has scored in his last 2 home games and like suarez he is likely to be involved in almost every attack for his team and he is also a bp magnet if citeh do well...

    Dark Horses are:
RVP- altho he is playing against manutd but as he has shown since coming back from injury that he is likely to get a goal or an assist in almost every game...
N'ZOG-on set-pieces and likely to get bp if his team do well...
ROO-loves playing against arsenal and manutd is likely to play 4-5-1 formation in which he will usually play as a lone forward and do well ...
ODEM-has scored 46 points and 4 goals in his last 5 games and one of the in-form players atm and if wb scores he is likely to be involved in that...
ADAM-just like n'zog, adam is central to what b'pool do and although he has not get many points in his last 4 gw's he can/will do well because it is almost a must win match for b'pool...
MARIO-he is a @!#!#@#!@#$! it is either a 2 goals/hat-trick or a red card/yellow card (1 pointer) but worth a punt but his starting role could be in doubt after dzeko goal earlier in the week or he might play on the wing if dzeko starts...

          BUT...

My underlying desire of the question was is it wise to sub out Sessegnon for Fabs, As an American fan of Arsenal...(I know, I like the disappointment) I'm done with the Gunners for this season...I can't see them doing anything remotely redeemable in the next three weeks. Is that too harsh?

But looking at Sunderland's fixtures upcoming that coupled with the fact that they are one of the teams not planning on letting up off the accelerator. Doesn't seem that too many people are paying too much attention to the change in dynamics in Sunderland as far as the attacking influences, and Sessegnon's being played out of position.

More likely to be full strength v Arsenal (they might be out of the title race, but Chelsea aren't), rotation is more likely in the CL.

Obertan and Bebe might play v Blackpool on the last day if the title is wrapped up.

In the last 3 weeks I've moved from 6th to 1st in my league (had 2 good dgws). I'd like to stay there. I'm ahead by 15 points.. .

    Here's my team:

    Samba/Luiz/R Johnson/Huth/Elmohamady
    Nani/Silva/Dempsey/Adam/Walters
    RVP/Carroll/Drogba

I've got 1 free change, plus I'm willing to pay for another.
I'm thinking about making changes with the DGW (spurs, city) in mind.

    What changes should I make?

    Dear Carlo,

Please don't play 4 4 2? It is not good for the Drogs, Lamps will be deep and noneffective, Malouda will be classic winger, not going inside and who, who the f. will play on the right wing?

We could play 4 1 2 1 2 A.K.A. diamond formation but with Tot speedy wingers it will be suicide. Please let the logic win, not wishes from some billionaire.

P.S. U could not listen to me and give Zhirkov the wing role no problem.
