The amount of time remaining for Fantasy Managers to either claw back or hold on to a league lead diminishes by the second now, with every last decision all the more vital in the race for bragging rights. That most crucial of choices -the armband selection- looks set to be a hum-dinger this week with no outright favourite standing out from the crowd…

Currently leading our poll is Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt; with seven goals in six gameweeks he’s found himself in the limelight of late. The Dutchman’s likely forward role in the absence of Andy Carroll, combined with his spot-kicks duties, sees him narrowly head the pack at present. Team mate Luis Suarez is not far off the pace in fourth, as a home game with Newcastle offers the January signing another chance to shine.

Narrowly behind Kuyt in second place is a fairly unassuming name who has been in a good, if not staggering, run of form in recent games. With three goals and 8 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his last five appearances David Silva has picked up the burden of responsibility as the Citizens main creator in the absence of Carlos Tevez. Only owned by 3.6% of managers (by far the lowest of any one in the top five) the Spaniard looks to be a strong candidate, no doubt picking up steam ahead of the coming double gameweek.

Currently in third place is Frank Lampard, with his performances having picked up in the return to the 4-3-3 formation, penalty-taking back-up and the visit of Tottenham this coming Saturday evening. The most in form (9.5 points per game over the last month) player available in FPL, Peter Odemwingie, is bringing up the rear in fifth place, with the Baggies frontman looking to continue the form that has brought four goals, four assists and six FPL Bonus Points in the last five weeks. A local derby at home to Aston Villa offers plenty potential.

Further afield we see names like Yaya Toure and Mario Balotelli get a bump from the home fixture with West Ham, Charlie Adam relied upon to push Blackpool to safety at home to Stoke and the likes of Didier Drogba and Robin Van Persie bringing their form to top of the table clashes.

Sorting your gameweek by difficulty on Members’ Season Tickers will show we’ve barely even mentioned any of our top six ranked sides this week so there looks to be an abundance of choice this week – a gift and a curse. Plenty of chances to make some headway, but there’s certainly room for a pitfall or two without one or two standout options to give our backing.

Whoever it is you decide to grace with your most valuable Fantasy weapon, be sure to head back to the frontpage and place your vote, then head back here and maybe give a little presentation about your front-runner.

Trying to weigh up the pros and cons of kuyt vs silva so feel free to pitch in!
      Silva,
Pros: city's main threat as an attacking force, bonus point magnet recently, dgw coming up, easy game this week
Cons: not always playing the 90 mins, not a massive goal scorer (has potential though)
      Kuyt,
Pros: amazing form recently, easy-ish fixture against Newcastle, on pens, Liverpool as a whole seem to have hit their stride
Cons: tough away game coming up against fulham (6 in 7 clean sheets I think for last 7 home games), no dgw, has been known in the past to just 2 and 3 points for weeks on ends

I am 75 points in the clear in my mini league. What are peoples thoughts on protecting the lead, and continuing to match my second place opponents team, or making changes that I think will maximize points?

      I have:

      Foster, Begovic
      Luiz, Coleman, Terry (Jara, Simpson)
A Young, Adam, VDV, Dempsey, Nani
      Odemwingie, Van Persie (Gyan)

Main opponent has Luiz, Adam, Dempsey, Nani, Odemwingie from my team, and I worry about him having Malouda.

Was considering bringing in Yaya or Silva, but I am not sure who I'd drop...Nani is my first thought, but I don't like that because he has Nani...

Thoughts? Is 75 points in the lead close to a done deal in this situation and just hold steady with a match his team strategy?

75pts can be caught, but I think as long as you make logical transfers (and couple of decent captains) you should prevail.

From your squad I would sell Dempsey and Nani for Silva and Yaya. Then bring in Bale next week.
