With three gameweeks left as we approach the climax of the 2010/11 season, our Fantasy Football Scout Top 5 sees no new entries, although third and fifth have swapped places, as Team Zophar moves up at the expense of Castel di Sangro. Chris McGurn, our overall leader, has climbed to the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) tree, sitting proudly at number one in the world, a single point ahead of the chasing pack.

Chris McGurn

Morons FC

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #1 Overall FPL Ranking #1

Last Week’s Score 54 pts
Two free transfers saw David Silva and Yaya Toure drafted into midfield, with Nani and Jamie O’Hara leaving the ranks. The Man City pair returned 9 points in the home game against West Ham, Leighton Baines contributed 11, captain Frank Lampard scored 16 to compensate for the Chelsea pair John Terry and David Luiz picking up just 3 points between them in their home match with Spurs. Robin Van Persie also helped Chris’ score along, with his assist in the Gunners win over Man United, earning the Dutchman 5 points.

Gameweek 36 Preview
Last week’s two trades gives Chris a couple of players for the final gameweek of the season, with Silva and Toure travelling to Baines’ Everton before facing Spurs at home. Will he grab some Tottenham cover for the home match with Blackpool though? Elsewhere, his Chelsea trio travel to Old Trafford to face Wayne Rooney’s Man United, Van Persie goes to Stoke and Ashley Young plays host to Wigan.

Kevin Havelock

Beyond Havoc

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #2 Overall FPL Ranking #4

Last Week’s Score 50 pts
A 4-point hit saw Robert Huth and Nani out for Dirk Kuyt and Joleon Lescott, with the Liverpool man grabbing the captain’s armband for a 26 point return. Doubling up on both the Chelsea and Man City defences failed to pay off, with 8 points returned from four defenders. Rafael Van der Vaart joined Van Persie in picking up 5 points, but Andy Carroll missed out on the goal action, coming off the Liverpool bench to earn a single point.

Gameweek 36 Preview
Kevin has five double gameweek players already: Lescott, Kolarov, Bale, Dawson and Van der Vaart. With three defenders playing twice, he’ll be hoping for clean sheets aplenty, particularly in the Man City-Spurs game at Eastlands. Florent Malouda, David Luiz and Ashley Cole visit Man United, though possibly both defenders will be benched. Kuyt and Carroll are off to face Fulham, as Van Persie travels to Stoke.

Utkarsh Dalmia

Team Zophar

Fantasy Football Ranking #3, Overall FPL Ranking #13

Last Week’s Score 62pts
A four point hit saw Dirk Kuyt and David Silva replace Nani and Clint Dempsey and it paid off for Utkarsh; Kuyt grabbed the armband for 26 points and Silva bagged 7. Robert Huth picked up 6 points to make up for Terry and Luiz’s combined total of 3, while Didier Drogba managed 9 at home to Spurs, with Van Persie’s 5 adding to the mix.

Gameweek 36 Preview
Last week’s successful points hit seems to have inspired Utkarsh, as he made two trades early on this week. Silva and Toure are already in the bag for the double gameweek, surely some Spurs coverage has been transferred in? Drogba and Rooney square up at Old Trafford, though it’s debatable whether the Chelsea defenders see the starting XI. Huth and Van Persie go head to head at the Brittania, with Kuyt at the Cottage.

Patrick Tyrrell

Scalachis Allstars

Fantasy Football Scout Ranking #4, Overall FPL Ranking #15

Last Week’s Score 54 Pts
Bacary Sagna made way for Aleksander Kolarov in the only trade of the gameweek. With half the team scoring 2 or less, some big points hauls saved the day; Leighton Baines’ 11, captain Lampard’s 16, Van Persie’s 5 and Peter Odemwinigie grabbed 6 in the home win over Aston Villa.

Gameweek 36 Preview
Yaya Toure and Kolarov are the two double gameweek players so far, though some Spurs coverage is surely to be expected from Patrick. With as many as 4 players lining up for the Newcastle-Birmingham match, it’ll be interesting to see how he plays it. Lampard and Luiz face Man United, Odemwingie goes to Wolves, Van Persie’s at Stoke, while Kevin Davies plays host to Sunderland, meaning all three forwards are away from home. A tough weekend ahead?

Kenny Coffey

Castel di Sangro

Fantasy Football Ranking #5, Overall FPL Ranking #20

Last Week’s Score 46pts
Out went Nani and Robert Huth as David Silva and Aleksander Kolarov came in for Kenny’s two free trades. Silva grabbed the armband and returned 14 points, though the next best scorer was Charles N’Zogbia with 6. Van Persie’s 5 was matched by Phil Jones but it was a disappointing gameweek otherwise, with Ben Foster’ 4 and Charlie Adam’s 3 the only other scores above 2 points.

Gameweek 36 Preview
Kenny is another without Spurs cover as of yet, with Silva and Kolarov his double gameweek players. He’ll need N’Zogbia to be fit for the trip to face Darren Bent and Kyle Walker’s Aston Villa. Wayne Rooney and Edwin Van der Sar will face off against Malouda and Luiz, with Van Persie at Stoke and Charlie Adam facing Spurs.

Any MC defender is a gamble rotation wise, but Lescott could be the most secure.

Modric may play further forward than Bale and seems in better form.

I'm off. But before I go I'll ask everyone a question:

Why would you think that even if your arch enemy (competitor/mini league leader) was reading this board, would you refuse to link your team?

Your competitor can see your current team, and you are only asking for advice, not necessarily taking it.

Then you don't need to say "Thanks, I'm transferring X to Y." so your transfers can remain a secret. He/She won't know if you don't say.

Or you can actually say "Thanks, I'm transferring X to Z" if you want to throw them off your trail.

    Just a thought.

i think the vast majority of poster with teams unlinked just dont have the attention span to set it up. hopefully the "Z" is for Zigic.
sometimes i think ive read replies from posters who purposefully give bad advice about who to start or bring in, just to give themselves an advantage overall. its all ridiculous.

I originally didn't have it linked because I didn't want League people seeing what I was doing (assuming they know of this site). But found it easier to ask questions with it linked and I think people are more likely to discuss thngs with people who have a linked team.

That's true in my case, Perthite. Some people are a bit paranoid, which I can understand. But when you think about it, you realise that linking your team is an advantage and that nobody gains any advantage from being able to see it in terms of beating you.

I've always linked my team and it's never bothered me one iota.

If I don't tell anyone what I'm actually going to do then there's no advantage at all for anyone competing with me to read what I post, and I always thank people for their advice.

Some of the best advice I've got here is from people ranked way below me, but like me they had a really atrocious spell of making bad captain choices which severely damaged their ranking.

The two Zeds will haunt me forever. 😉

modric, bale is (has been) playing as a defender. Modric has been consistently getting bonus.

lescott, zabaleta goal was flukish, came away with a knock (though i dont think its serious), so safer to spend a little more for lescott.

You have the sheer impertinence to advertise another site via your name and ask for advice without having given any first?

Try again during the European day and you'll find plenty of advice. Not all of it will be as polite as mine:

Change your name and link your team, otherwise sod off.

    heres my rant:

push the deadline to 1/2 hour before 1st match of a gameweek, and have it that way for EVERY gameweek!!!!! loads of last minute transfer excitement, and a chance to know some squads in time. I hate seeing a deadline pass, and a team sheet 10 minutes later with bad news!!!! it causes ulcers!!!

bench walcott, if you have balotelli, this is the week you thought of when you brought him in, no turning back now, red card or bench be DAMNED. you made your hotheaded Italian bed sir, now lie in it.
Hitz starts, read the scouts reasons, they are more credible than i.
      bench walcott WITH CONFIDENCE

Hard to see a BLB cleenie at WHAM particulalry with the forthcoming Hitz blitz.

Play Luiz. These top games are usually tight afffairs and a 0-0 is still in with a shout. Luiz also gives you dbps and abps with the odd goal here and there.

Chances of clean sheets are minimal but both those two could score or assist.

No. It is not worth trading defenders in at this stage of the season. Rotate with whatever you have got. They have held their form till now so they are unlikely to go off the boil now.

Trade in the best mid or fwd for that particular gwk.

            Thanks for the replies btw.

Yes he plays well forward. Just don't see the point in chancing -4pts in a tricky fixture.

This may be counterintuitive, but since I have Baines already then I'd feel compelled to bring him in with all that money you have in the bank.

But looking at his fixtures then I'd say your money could be better spent elsewhere.

Your team looks good (Apart from Kolarov) and I think that apart from a change for the sake of it then I'd leave it be until next week.

Any last input on my team?

    Foster (Begovic)
    Luiz Walker Baines (Huth Terry)
    VDV Downing Modric Kuyt (Barton)
    RVP Drogba Odem

    Sub order: Huth Barton Terry

Pretty happy with it since I think Man C have too many rotation risks and Spurs defence is pretty shoddy.

Looks good actually. I'm starting to regret omitting Modric. I'd be tempted by Huth in defence, but think you have it right with one Chelsea playing and one benched.

I like it too. Tempted to suggest Barton over Drogs but risky either way. You probably have it right.

      Hi Horizontal,

Similar thinking to me re Citeh. Pretty good team. You'll be hoping for a good result from the Spuds.

      Which trade did you do?

Oh...and going to see Source Code tomorrow 🙂

Thanks for all the advice and support. It's appreciated even though it doesn't change my team. I'm struggling with the same decisions as everyone else.

You can work out which trade I did, it's pretty simple

I always have an itchy transfer finger but the last few weeks I've kept it in Czech. 😀

Benching Terry is risky but I think there's a major chance of him picking up a red this week. He seems a tad aggressive against Man U as far as I remember.

Morning guys, please rate my wc team atm.:

    Gomes
    Dawson, Kolalov, Luiz
    Lamp, VDV c, Silva, Yaya
    RVP, Suarez, Odem
    subs: Meireles, Cahill, Simpson
Do I have my sub order right?
Who should I start Luiz or Cahill?
Any change I can make to better my option? Still a little unsure about next 2 weeks. Thanks guys. 🙂

I would prefer Hart but I already have 3 mc player and still have one tot player to load up. I'm just playing around with DGW to see how much I can get this week.

Hi Neo-haven't done an RMT for a while so here goes:

Gk: Gomes isn't in great form tbh. Who is your second gk?

Defs: No point doubling up with Dawson when you have Gomes.

Mids: Too much Citeh imo. Silva for me. Would prefer to see Hitzlperger in there. Or Kuyt.

Fwds: this is the best thing about your team.

Thanks Jafa, this is just what I need , my other GK is currently Szczesny. I'll ponder on getting rid of Yaya since I had him for a while. May be I'll come up with my revised team.

I Think Suarez will get more chances for points and less chance of hassle on the pitch. (Lamps is the lad for next week)
    Also
If you think Chelsea will keep a clean sheet and Luiz can keep his mental switch in the off position - then pick him. I don't. (he is my 2nd sub) 🙂

Hi guys, need some advice on my defense:

    Playing Baines, Luiz and Coleman.
Have Evatt and Smalling on the bench. I have 0 in the bank and have already made two trades, is it worth taking a another hit to replace maybe Coleman?
    Any thoughts much appreciated, cheers.

I'd say probably not. Everton have a very good record at home to city, and are playing well of late. Wouldn't bother man
