The penultimate Podcast broadcast of the season is dedicated to one of its most controversial Fantasy figures and features a Mark vs Granville barney of reasonable proportions.

A long-term apologist for the Aleksandar Kolarov’s lack of attacking end product (there’s no excuse for his defending), I find myself under a tirade of predictable flack as Granville dares to use common sense against my rock solid statistical reasoning. The very idea.

Anyone who has personally been angered/abused/mildly upset by Kolarov this season should certainly listen in and blame me 100% for your pain. If that isn’t enough to tempt you then you can also eavesdrop on the usual array of regulars, and witness the mini-league banter as the gap between Granville and myself narrows to just nine points. Nine points. Just nine.

Nine.

The last couple of days the phrase "if you are chasing a lead" get in Nzogbia etc been mentioned a lot on FFS.

Would trying to make up a 9 point deficit be "chasing"?

If you aren't leading, you are chasing. Even 1 point is chasing. 😕

Ok, for all the Aussies out there....

Would CHASING a 9 pt lead be a reason to take a risk especially so close to the end and some tricky fixtrues this week.

Or is it better to roll a trade and try something next week?

Depends how good your team is for this week and how different they are compared to those you're chasing.

9 pts lead is not too much to catch up in a week, a good captain choice would do it in such week. Good luck on your league. 🙂

Tough times this week, i've got little to play for stuck in third in my league and 40 points infront in 4th so just need to kill that off really..

    currently have:

    Foster (Bego)
    Lescott Carr Luiz (Shawcross, Coleman)
    O'hara Sessegnon VDV Nani (Young)
    RVP Ba Odem

Thinking of maybe Lampard in for Young? also tempted to reshuffle the back line, i wanted Johnson but miss him by 0.2

Guys need a bit of advice on my team:

    Foster (Begovic)
    Hughes Kolorov Luiz (Walker) (Kelly)
    Kuyt Adam Lampard Silva VdV
    RvP Odemwingie (Carroll)

    3.3M in the bank

Was wondering what you guys think would be the best transfer option is?

    1) Kelly to ??

Was thinking to get rid of Kelly and then be able to have 5 playing defenders just in case Luiz and Kolorov don’t play? If so, who should I bring in for the last two games?

    Or

    2) VDV to N’Zogbia

Should I just make an attacking transfer and sub Carroll and maybe transfer him for another forward next week?

    Or

    3) Carroll to Suarez

    Or

    4) Make no transfer and save it for next week?

Going into this week slightly worried, but confident. I think I have won my Mini League with ease (100+ pt clear) so this is purely overall position now.

Foster (Mignolet) - save points>conceded goals
    Lolarov Cahill Luiz
    VdV Kuyt Lamps(c) Yaya
    Rooney Odem RVP
    (O'Hara, Dawson, Jones)

I am a bit concerned about defence, if Luiz is out and Kolarov rested I have Jones V ManU and Dawson V Liverpool. One of the two out for Smalling/Fabio? I fancy a united punt without changing midfield.

I'd say Fabio was a good punt to be honest, he generally starts PL games now, and rightly so may I add! If you've already won, then why not take more exciting punts like that? 🙂

not seeing any chat about nani....

sure he hasn't played much recently but that's not due to form, SAF prefers sparky for big games.

his ppg speaks for itself and I really think he'll start at blackburn and maybe even blackpool.

    thoughts?.....

A few questions to chuck out there...

If you were to bring in one defender who would it be? Baines? Johnson?

Is Valencia likely to start both?

Will these Liverpool midfielders continue this ridiculous run?

Is anyone worried about Westham players and getting them in for GW37 and GW38 when realistically they could be down by then?

How long is a piece of string?

      1. Johnson
      2. No, I dont think so
      3. No, law of average, and I don't think Maxi and Kuyt will score as many, but definitely some
      4. I am not touching Westham, more confident to get Wigan attacking
      5. As long as u want it to be

      Glenn Johnson

I think he will start tomo and sub app vs blackpool

Liverpool mids will score well when Carroll is not playing

I am staying clear of west ham for that reason, if they lose vs wigan they are down so wont try as hard imo in gw 38

I had less questions for suggestions/feedback when I was chasing (just read definition above by TM, Inalize). But got more questions from the moment I went ahead.

    Signs of nervousness !!

Chasing equals less pressure. Leading = thinking what trick/risks the chasers will take.

I always shared my changes with my rival when I was chasing. Today when he asked me what 2 transfers have I done, I had no words. What an uneasy situation ?
        Yeah, more pressure TM.

You are giving away too much info with the trades. Sure they can work them out using the bank/team value but it's tricky. I guess it depends on how much is at stake.

leading means you can go for the sensible transfers and captian choice though... chasing means you try something different / daft like captaining Kolarov (as I did GW 35) to hope for the last minute differential points!

I was like that to an extent, but then just started making my own moves rather than counter my rival in 2nd and has proven to be successful.

Big turning point was him taking out Rooney for RVP when he got his hat-trick against West Ham - all the stats suggested it was a good move given Utd's away form but who was expecting that.

Suarez hitting form in these last few weeks and getting in the City boys for the West Ham game whilst extending my lead finished off my rival in 2nd place challenge (I hope) - I now hold a 107 point lead.

I hope Fabio and Rafael are the new Nevilles next season getting 90mins each. Reality is that they're not going to push out Vidic, Ferds or Evra so it's not happening. But they would be right good for CS and attacking potential at a bargain price.

Last year, I was leading the league by 120 pts with 6 GW to go. I was stubborn and did not get Fat Frank. That killed me, as he went on carnage and I lost my league on the last day.

Not again, this time I have Lampard, and he will be my captain.

Can't wait for the fat lady to sing.
