Odemwingie Ruled Out Of Magpies Finale

It has been revealed by Roy Hodgson that Peter Odemwingie’s season has finished early after the striker suffered an ankle injury. He will now certainly miss the Baggies’ last encounter of the season – a trip to the North East to face Newcastle.

The Nigerian forward has been one of the Premier League’s signings of the season, cropping up with 15 goals and 9 assists. This good form has established him as a firm Fantasy Premier League favourite and he currently holds an ownership of 19.7%.

If this final gameweek wasn’t stressful enough, almost one-in-five FPL Managers are now left with another last-gasp decision. At 5.8 Odemwingie stands out remarkably against other cheap forwards and it is generally slim pickings when pondering the rest of this price bracket.

The obvious choice would be Steven Fletcher of Wolves – one of the most in-form players in the league with 5 goals in his last 5 outings as well as 6 FPL bonus points. Priced at just 4.8, he could also free up an extra million for other areas of the squad in need of a last hurrah.

Going off past form, Marc-Antoine Fortune seems the most likely candidate to lead the Baggies line in Odemwingie’s absence. Even with a cheap 5.0 valuation, his record of just 2 goals and 1 assist in 24 Premier League games (albeit mostly as a sub) doesn’t make him particularly attractive. Fortune has rarely completed the full 90 minutes this season, so expect him to be replaced by Ishmael Miller.

With a dwindled potency, West Brom are lacking much attacking potential, a clean-sheet could be on the cards for the Newcastle backline. Those Managers shopping for a goalkeeper look no further than Tim Krul, at 3.9 he is as cheap as they come and holds the capacity to grab some end of season points.

Elsewhere in the Newcastle defence, Jose Enrique is a snip at 4.7 and offers assist and Bonus point potential, respectively notching up 2 and 11 this season. Whilst Steven Taylor has scored in his last 2 Premier League fixtures and is yours for just 3.9.

      I don't think he'll do much. There's always the argument that he'll want to make other clubs want him more, but it's not like they'd sign him just off this one game anyway

          Ba should start, he was offered a new contract during the week so he is obviously in their plans for next season.

          If he starts then Sunderland at home is a decent fixture.

    Red a few posts about the Anderson bandwagon and that he´s not worth the transfer so I´ll state my opinion:
    Already was planing to get him for this week anyway precisely because of the CL game exhibition, so the news of SAF just pleased me more. He´ll play as a 10 in front of Scholes and Fletcher wich gives him the oportunity to pull a rabbit out of the hat with an assist or a goal, also there is no pressure over him wich will bring up his brazilian style(wich could mean bonus points). So if you ask me he´s a pretty good punt, but then again it´s just my opinion.

      He is playing because Nolan is out injured and if Tiote plays he gets booked. If he gets booked he starts next season with a 3 match suspension so he will not play.
      Taylor's only real talent is set pieces, corners and freekicks (not pens). He is our key taker of set pieces as evidenced against Chelsea where he took them all despite Barton being on the pitch.
      Odemwingie is out injured which boosts clean sheet potential considerably.
      He is a 3.9 defender which allows people to downgrade the likes of Luiz to upgrade a striker to Berbatov.

        newbie to the sport and got burned a few times early on by having craddock on my team. swore never again. and going with Ward this GW is closer to craddock than I'd like to be

            Coleman will almost certainly play now Bily is suspended, but he'll be given the job of keeping Ashley Cole quiet so I wouldn't expect too much from him. I'd be amazed if we keep a clean sheet too making him a 2 pointer at best really.

      gamble on your def. RJ will play, Luiz and Kolorov "might" play. I'd say you should get 2 a the least playing out of those 5. dont waste a transfer

      leave your midfield and look at getting one of tevez and berbs in (not original i know).

      possibly worth a 4 point hit to improve midfield or attack but need to know how much cash you got?????

    Now I know I'm guaranteed a win, this game has lost all excitement for me. I s'pose that serves me right. Normally I rush back from work on a friday for this.

        No guilt at all, why would I feel guilty messing up the fantasy team of a guy who doesnt give a **** or know a ****ing thing about football? he's never on facebook so I dont know if he's having a sh!t time with it raining but Im sure he's enjoying slamming his gorgeous wife as everyone seems so keen to point out
