Today’s afternoon programme concludes the Player Manager Scout League, a tournament set up over the final eight gameweeks of the season.

The league has been keenly contested and right now it’s being led by Mick Wall with an impressive four gameweek average score of 404 points. He’s nicely lined up for the £200 first prize, with the chasing pack tightly packed going into the final set of fixtures. Indeed, there are just six points separating the next four averages amongst the Scout league managers.

While newcomers have missed out on participating in the tournament, the guys at Player Manager have offered an incentive for all new players registering their interest today. Join up and play the final gameweek and you will be in the hat for a £100 prize for the top score – the pot will be shared in the event of a tie. You can of course, register as many teams as you like using the unique auction system, with team entries costing £1 a throw.

Check out our review of Player Manager here and, if you’re interested, sign up and pick your squad for today via this link.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looking at the Scout Picks, how does everyone rank N'Zogbia, O'Hara, and Adam?

      N'Zog
      O'Hara
      Adam

      In that order..

I was also surprised not to see Kolarov in the picks as today will be his day 😕

thanks Syd, and to everyone who responded in the other thread as well. N'Zog appears to be unanimous #1, but less consensus on the order of the other 2. decisions, decisions.

i suppose it depends on your situation, but i'd have a hard time taking a hit for this unless definitive word is out that drogba won't start.

it would sure be nice if the deadline was 30-60 minutes before kickoff.

I have the dreaded defence as follows:

    Smalling, Kolorov, Huth (Coleman, Luiz)

    1. Is that the right order?
    2. What about the subs?
    3. Are there any defenders you would bring in for a 4 point hit?

    Cheers to all

I'd have Luiz in front of Coleman just in case Luiz plays, but likely won't matter.
Not the time to take hits for defenders in my opinion (unless you're freeing up cash for elsewhere).

    My attackers:

    Adam, Yaya, Silva, Nani (VDV)
    Van Persie, sturridge, berbatov

Rival is 15 points behind and has vanPersie MIGHT have bought berbatov but not sure, he made 2 transfers before the city game so doubt he has tevez.

If he bought berb I guess he'll captain him

    So

    1. should I captain RVP or Berbatov?
    2. Worth starting VDV (rival has him too) just in case he miraculously starts?

Don't disagree with O'Hara at all, but I'm not so sure on Birmingham myself as Spurs could/should overwhelm them. Also, it may depend on the other games. If Wigan gets up in that game, Birmingham will be forced to open it up and get a result.

Need some feedback.. first time i have asked all season so be great to get some response:

Team is currently (I know the defence is a mess but reluctant to take hits as cant see many clean sheets)!!

    Hart
    Luiz Huth R.Jonson (Carr Bassong)
    Lampard Kuyt Adam Y.Toure (Whilshire)
    Rooney V.Persie Odemwingie

I am 22 points clear at the top of my mini league and my rival has taken a 4 point hit and pretty sure has put in either Tezez,Berbs or NZogbia

    I am thinking of:

    Rooney >> Berbs
    Odemwingie >> Tevez
    Kuyt >> NZogbia
    (8 point hit)

    or just
    Rooney >> Berbs/Tevez
    Whilshire >> NZOgbia
    (4 point hit)

I really think Manchester United are going to rear end Blackpool today. Their "B" team showed against Schalke that they can put on a quality show and Blackpool will be perfect cannon fodder. They've shipped in an average 3 goals per game on the road recently, mostly against mid-ish table opposition.

    4-0 (Berbatov 3)

as a utd. supporter i would take neither as a mf from a fantasy perspective as there are far better options out there. i would honestly want to see a draw and blackpool stay up than united win and blackpool go down since we've already won the league. yes we beat schalke w/reserves, but people seem to forget how we got battered by west ham in the league cup quarterfinal with a similar squad. could go either way, just who makes the most of their chances imo.

Just don't see why SAF would go to bother of naming the other big name starters and not Nani. He has nothing to gain from mind games.

exactly. As soon as the situation became apparent he said he'll have to think about who could use a rest and who could use game time. Nani's firmly in the rest category after the season he's had. Park/valencia/rooney are more likely to start than nani imo.

Why did fergie mention he will play scholes, anderson, berbatov... So he could not be accused of playing reserves - making his excuses as to why these players need a game.

If he was going to also play a load of other reserves, why didn't he make his excuses for them too?

6 days is so much time to prepare for a final - i think he wants to win this game and shut up the people criticising him before he's even picked a team.

      Thoughts as follows:

      1. Top scorer/3rd place motivation (or 3rd place motivation for RVP)
      2. Man City full strength playing well (Arsenal hardly playing well at mo and midfield service has been pants)
      3. He is on penos, free kicks, (same for RVP)
      4. Focal point of everything (same for RVP)

      5. Bolton - mixed form at home (Fulham normally play well except for LFC)

I would sway towards Tevez - only just...

for rvp - fulham playing for fairplay league, might lie down
      arsenal need third
rvp is the most consistent player right now by far, especially away from home, seem to remember he's got the record for away games scored still going

for tevez - playing for golden boot, scored 2 goals in last game, might want to say farewell in a positive way (could also be a negative) city need the win so mancini might not be negative as usual away from home

against rvp - fulham can be tight at home, arsenal are probably feeling sorry for themselves

against tevez - bolton home form WWWWWL city away form 4 points in 6, could mancini be angry with him and not want to give him one last chance to shine in the shop window (seems unlikely though)

      Enough?!

Realistically, its not going to happen though, is it.

I doubt that the highest scoring team today is going to be 50 points better off than most people on here so that's how difficult a thing it is to do.

Sorry to rain on your parade. Just get the team you want today and forget about chasing the leader is my advice to you. That's what I did last season on the last day when I knew that I wasn't really n with any reasonable shot at all.

    Advice please:
I have a 71 point lead at the moment - two closest to me neither have tevez or Berbs but I expect them to get one and captain them.

    My team:
    Foster (Gomez!!)
    Smalling, Luiz, Baines (Vidic, Cathcart)
    Kuyt, Maxi, N,Zog, Lamps,Yaya
    RVP, Sturridge (Hernandez)

What changes would you make to team? 2 mil in bank and one free trf.Happy to take hits and thinking
    Luiz>Dawson/Hangeland ?
    Maxi> Adam/Modric ?
    Sturridge & Hern> Tevez & Berbs

Or - do one tfr and hold on to points?

I wouldn't worry about the defence this week.
Berbs record (when playing at home) is outstanding when compared to Tevez away. This has almost always been with Rooney playing though and he's a different prospect without Rooney.
Golden boot factor and Blackppol chasing hard (leaving even bigger holes than usual at the back) means I'd still pick ahead of Tevez & captain him.
