Our end of season awards polls come to an end with the voting in the forwards category. The poll is now live on the frontpage and visitors can now cast two votes for the strikers who had the biggest influence on our Fantasy seasons.

Voting will close on this in a couple of days with our team of the season review articles following very soon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Repost in current forum...

In “it’s tough at the top” news, the final results for the ‘Top 1000 ANY season’ league are sobering to say the least – there were 37 managers in the league this season and NO-ONE FINISHED IN THE TOP 1000 THIS SEASON!!

    http://fantasy.premierleague.c.....mc?id=6230

Congrats to Garath Rees who won the league, finishing 1,478 overall.

The league includes many current and former FFS celebs, e.g. Jamesiep (19th), RafaMC (17th), Mandahammer (13th), Da Beez (14th), league admin P Mowbray (37th), Pure Olivia (8th) and jms (4th). I came in a respectable 12th which makes me feel a bit better about failing my objective this season of finishing top 5K.

P Mowbray runs the league - he'll probably post the code here next season again if he keeps it going.

It does show how tough it is to finish in the top 1000. I am thrilled just to finish just outside the top 2,000 after a crappy last year.

      Yours are: # (c)=243/453 53.6% Bench=242 11%

The total of your highest scoring player each GW was 453 points. Your captain choices scored 243, which is 53.6% of 453. If your captain choices had been perfect you would have scored an extra 420 points ((2 x (453-243)).

Your bench players scored 242 points, which was 11% of your squad's total score of 2182 (2086 net + 96 hits).

I know this will be shot down by everyone but.....

Am I the only one who thinks that Ryan Giggs taking out an injunction actually shows that he's still a more decent person than most footballers. At least he tried to protect his family and his wife...

*If it turns out his family/wife didn't want the injunction then of course I'll admit I'm wrong.

Without risking the wrath of Jamsiep from his favourite quote.

But he doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would take out the injunction to protect his image, like you say, more to protect his family.

But at the end of the day he shouldn't have cheated in the first place, so I guess that makes him that kind of guy.

You dont need to defend everything with regards United Demi.

Take the man as his actions

                    Great footballer and cheater.

No amount of protecting his family nonsense is worth any time

If anything he was probably protecting his well earned public image as he is soon to retire and has his finger in a few PR pies.

The idea the injunction was for his family is very naive

I'm agreeing with you Dbr. What you've said is correct. He's a great footballer, but there's no excuse for what he's done. Taking out the injunction, trying to cover it up and then trying to sue twitter aswell.

Of course not Tommy, but your point is that having taken an injunction out makes him more decent than the many many footballers who have brought up families without having an affair, telling her that she's the love of his life and then making sure as best he can that no one ever finds out. Unless I've badly misinterpreted:

"Am I the only one who thinks that Ryan Giggs taking out an injunction actually shows that he’s still a more decent person than most footballers. At least he tried to protect his family and his wife…"

Maybe not, but it is more likely that someone who has never been in any "trouble" before would try and protect their family than someone who has been in "trouble".

I think he is a complete idiot and all this injunction/suing twitter lark is dragging something on and making it MORE public.
If the story had come out 4 or 5 weeks ago about his affair, we would have all forgotten about it after 4 or 5 days.

Obama is very impressive...polished customer..Enda Kenny was a fuc*ng embarrassment...shouting and roaring like a drunken Irishman while GAA president Kelly looks on and claps....no wonder we're f*cked as a nation ,still clinging onto the humped-out dream of the parish and the GAA.

      Things will never change.

Although Enda is a vast improvement of anyone we have had in the past 20 years. But thats not saying much.

I find it funny how entrenched people can be to defend this small parish ethos (having come from one myself) without seeing what a massive disadvantage it is today when the world is about converging into 1 massive social envirnoment. Yet Ireland is built around parish v parish.

      Rant over 🙂

Agree about Enda...he's a nice guy and I'm convinced he's trustworthy but he has very little charm ...it's like chalk and cheese on that stage there..
Even our celebrations when someone is elected is prehistoric, grown men, apparently our representatives, acting like an under 8 team who've won a match.
As you were saying about Tubridy, Ireland is still parish and family oriented, it's who you know, not what you're capable of.
Compare this with London or the States and the abundance of opportunities there, purely based on your skills and attributes...If I didn't have a job I'd be gone out of here in a second.

Im glad im out of there. (though il be back for sometime in the summer)

Its nice to view the place from the outside. I had a chat last week with a few europeans discussing the cultures etc.

The most revealing thing was to realise all the years I was forced to learn Irish, Hour after Hour year after year while Swedish, Italien, Germans etc were learing a second european language - giving them the distinct advantage in the present age of being able to diverge into many different european or other countries.

Big lot of good those thousands of hours learning peig did.

Ireland will have no hope in the modern world until the ideals of the past which wanted us a one world of our own away from the rest are removed.

Its hard not to be embarrassed by alot of what is going on in Ireland outside of the sports

Devastating. Lead my main mini-league 34 or so of the 38 GW's this season, to end up finishing 2 points behind the leader.

I think it ultimately came down to him having Vidic, and me persisting with Lolarov for the last 6 weeks or so.

Gutted. Highest ever overall rank by a mile too.

My decision to have Lescott, instead Kolarov brought me 40 points swing I think. But Lolarov was rotation threat, whenever he started City conceded cause he is defensive liabilty and I know that Lescott was fantasy point machine, he scored 200 in pts one season and Kolarov was unproven bandwagon. So it was no brainer for me.

A lift in spirit isnt worth much beyond the personal

Europe, Uk and everyone with eyes knows what we and every country is like in this age.

Its not like 50 years ago when besides offical visits no foreign media and cameras were in the country. So state visits of other dignateries did do wonders for revenue and publicity.

If anything stupid statements like this to foriegn media
"Richard Wallace, 49, a farmer, said the visit would help town's economy by pumping in tourst dollars: "That's what it's all about."

          may turn people off coming.

I like that he came as we need to engage with other countries so we can have so say in international affairs and actually eventually have some form of professional reputation.

People jumping around and drinking Guiness is not as good for the country as it seems.

Lets see if Obama under the direction of Cameron sits around a fire with a pipe and drinks some tea as would be a stereotypical view of british culture 100 years ago. He wont for obvious reasons - but every foreign President must be brought to have a pint in Ireland based on some dated view of Irish people which many think is a good thing

The world moves on. Ireland stays the same

Can see it will be tough , for example if two weeks ago Hangeland hadnt scored two goals then top 1000 would of been out of reach , only played him because kolorov and co didnt play.
Many such turning points during the year, in hindsight we look back and see skill when in reality maybe it was just the equivilent of tossing a coin and getting ten heads in a row

I came 630th with a team that was thrust into my care after the person ragequit after gameweek 1 after coming top 1000 last year. The sad thing is, I used this other team to get the alternatives to players I actually wanted on my proper team (I picked Lescott and Toure in it rather than my own selection of Kolarov and Silva)

Am I the only one who thinks that Ashley Cole shagging loads of women while married to Cheryl shows that he’s still a more decent person than most footballers, as he probably wasn't in love with any of them? While a certain other top player who had an affair told the mistress she was the love of his life. At least Cole didn't lead them on and make them think there was a future in the relationship...

I think the (c) one is useful, but it was pretty obvious I couldnt pick a captain.
The bench score and % boils down to whether you like a balanced team, or cheapy non players. I think you can see which i went for?!!

    Does the OOP strategy work?

Just been looking through the points per game that defenders have made , suprising that the likes of Coleman , Kolorov , Elmouhamedy are low down the list.
Everyone chasing these OOP players but reality is that they are outscored by the solid defenders who have an eye for goal , like Huth , Hangeland , alex etc

      Yes, a fpl related post!

I agree, the OOP defenders have all been largely bloody useless. I'll be looking for the new Baines and Vidic next year. Defenders who are guaranteed to play and who might chip in with the odd goal or assist. Verm for Arsenal is surely a good bet considering his price should drop.

Kolarov had a good PPG in the few games he played in midfield I think! Overall I think defenders playing OOP struggle because:

      1. They tend to be classic wingers - classic wingers are rarely great prospects in FPL.

      2. Elmohamady and Coleman were hurt by plenty of substitute appearances draggning down their PPG

I agree that playing 90 minutes every week is a better thing than being OOP (defence->mid). Strikers classed as midfielders are still great, see Ronaldo for example.

Ronaldo was a striker and Nani is perhaps a combination, he cuts inside a lot which is more modern. With classic I meant wingers doing what wingers were doing 20 years ago, beating their man and crossing. It's what Coleman and Elmo does.

No..classic wingers are more like 90's Giggs, Kanchelskis, Gillespie....rigidly stick to the sidelines with thier only aim to skin people and send in crosses...Ronaldo had more freedom although he was very wingerish in his first game against Bolton for the mancs

The other argument against the OOPs is that they seem to suffer higher rates of rotation (kolorov , coleman , elmo)
Either that or they stop playing in midfield and just become rubbish defenders .

Then you have to get rid of them and waste transfers.

Next season am going with solid at the back . Players you can just leave there , then transfers can be concentrated where they count

I'm a bit of a sucker for big money centre backs in FPL myself too Waldaz. Had to stay away from them this season as they were not great but in my first season I played with a back five of Carvalho, Gallas, Ferdinand, Carragher and someone else. It was great.

Yeah. I played a 5-2-3 every gameweek, I remember it so well.

I had Lampard and Cahill in midfield and Leroy Lita, Marlon King and Kevin Doyle up front. FPL has never been as exciting as with that team. Haha.

I had a dreadful start and first half of the season but clawed it back and with a late surge won my mini league for 3rd year in a row and managed to sneak inside top 4000. Thanks as always to the site and the contributors.
