The Premier League have confirmed to us this afternoon that their Fantasy game is in the final stages of testing for the new season but will not be going live today.

The game and site have been enhanced and, while things are almost complete, there are still some minor browser issues that need to be ironed out before the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) site can launch.

We can take this opportunity to dispel a number of rumours that have cropped up in recent days and confirm that all is well with the FPL and that the game will be free to play. There are also a number of significant improvements that we feel will be greeted with a very positive response from players and, in particular, our community; having voiced strong opinions on certain features of the game, you have helped influence some of the changes introduced.

We will endeavour to bring you details of those changes and any update on the release date. One of the benefits of our new relationship with the FPL is that visitors to Fantasy Football Scout will get information and enjoy a two-way relationship with the game organisers. This means that once the game is released and the new features announced, you can rely on us to feedback your reactions to the changes.

Hang in there folks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

i saw the goal, he was flat footed and got merked. the best part was 2 minutes later the scorer asked to swap shirts with him and agger looked pissed off (not that he ever looks happy)

A few late thoughts on the changing business model.

I think the powers that be here should consider the reaction to the changes, and more imporantly the negative ones, a glowing compliment to the values members get from this site. Notwithstanding, this site is the most accessible FPL tips site on the web which is free, for the very basics at least. There are people who have been here since its inception and naturally have an affinity with what the site does. This creates an attachment to the site to the point where people become fiercely defensive of change (a la fans of bands who claim they "sell out").

Being completely honest, I would love to keep this site under raps and have it all to myself. I can honestly say that without FFS I wouldnt have topped 4 leagues last season, I wouldnt have had a clue about who is hot and not, and no idea about forward thinking (the ticker). So I can't grumble that everyone else is now getting this treatment; I just have to improve my game. Its the finer analysis I need to study now which I didnt last season - closer looks at home/away fixtures, shots on target etc.

There are plenty of things I can do to try and stay ahead of the pack, and I suppose to be the best at anything you need to learn how to evolve. Imagine SAF ranting at the introduction of the premier league and resigning!

      +1 good post.

It seems to me people are just worried they won't have an advantage over their rivals but they might get more satisfaction winning when their rivals can get the same information they can. I still believe the hardcore fans will know about this site already and the casual players won't bother. The end of the day this site just gives u the information, it's upto the individual to make the end decision and only they can be responsible for that.

+1. if you play in a manner where you just get spoon fed everything and don't think for yourself then a) that can't be very fun (i understand some people play to win their league and that's it, they don't have the time or interest in football to take it further) and b) you can't complain if other people get spoon fed similar info. it's not your info, you've just decided to use it.

Thing is, since coming here my average finish position hasn't increased, because it was already quite high, i was doing things like making my own ticker and planning well ahead. As it is I feel the overall std has increased, making it hard to acheive the same level of result. What im saying is for me this site has already taught many people things i figured out for myself long before FFS and its now being put into even wider circulation.

I think this will make things harder again, which in most circumstances i would welcome competition wise, but because luck plays a fairly large part in FPL i think that we will probably see a slight increase in teams appearing similar, which will ultimately increase the effect any slice of luck has, as there will be proportionally less room to make up skill wise.

However, that said, i dont blame Mark and co for taking opportunities that come their way, far from it. Nothing stays the same and nothing lasts forever, so making hay whilst the sun shines is only sensible!

And my 3 years wins in a row? When they will know that I've been using this site, the victory will be devalued. They will think that I was cheating or something. I can not stand the conversations like u aren't that good FPL manager it was the site. That way thinking now I have even bigger point to prove and winning it again and again.

I only feel sorry that I won't be able to post what ever I want, I will have to be more careful. Like blocking the freedom of speech.

And top of all I will miss the FFS community badly.

I’ve calmed down now. I suppose I can’t blame them for cashing in – I’d probably have done the same. But be clear that it is “cashing in”
Any notion that this is somehow beneficial to the existing membership base is frankly insulting.

All our rivals will now have information handed to them on a plate. All those little nuggets that added up to you or me winning our minileague will be “out there”.

Particularly the preview articles. “Don’t forget that Player X is injured / suspended this weekend. But, hey, Player Y is a great replacement because of ……” All your rivals, who would normally have been oblivious, will be busy transferring Player X to Player Y!

Remember how everyone on here tends to have a generic team? Well now all your minileague rivals will also have *that* team.

The generic team isn't the best team anyway, look at Boselli Kolarov etc, its up to u to make your own decisions.

If u don't win your mini leagues this year are u gonna blame it on the fact that everyone can use this site and that in a way it's fairer or are u just gonna accept the other person was better and/or luckier or used the information better?

Hi MJ I've calmed down too and I wasn't blaming Mark & co at all I fully support them, but we must admit one war or another this is gonna have negative impact on our FPL game and positive on our rivals. In my mini league only one lad knew it about this site, but I want to won my country league again and I believe now that the competition will be 10 times tougher.

Some pick Lampard and some like Fabregas...Some have Hart as keeper and some rotate cheap keepers...how many keeper options are out there for the new season? Step back and look at the bigger picture man...even with all the info in "nugget" form there can be no real copy of a team...one player, one alternative captain's choice could make you a hero or zero...so who cares if the info is available...if anyone is willing to sit up at twelve at night to read comments going into saturday deadline then great stuff...but who's gonna do that...seriously...I do and most here probably do too but the general public..i highly doubt it...and to keep it up ALL season long...why waste your time moaning...why don't you get back to analysing the opta stats and shape your season ticker further...that would seem more useful and productive.

        Hi Blu Zulu,

"Some pick Lampard and some like Fabregas" - yeah u r right but please let me tell u one example. I was more than 100 points behind my rival in the season 2009/10 and I won my mini league at the end. It was something like the last 8 fixtures (lucky for me), but do u know how I won it? He made a rookie mistake, he bought Mascherano, yeah right he bought him and got some cards, got furious and made mistakes in a row. Even if he posted ones here, no matter what time of the day, everybody would told him DON'T BUY MASCHERANO and I believe I wouldn't won that year. This site has huge influence on the game.

So we cannot say it doesn't matter someone has Hart and someone cheapies.

I just wish you'd reserve judgement until you take in the changes in the FPL and also see how we're presenting some of our members content as a result. When you do, I hope you'll see that members will get a level of assistance beyond the content we can provide in a single 500 word article on a Thursday morning.

I guess my main grumble is that I actively looked for info, found this site and have reaped the beneifts in terms of staying ahead of mates/rivals in cash leagues when it comes to info/injuries/team news and now, with one mention of FFS on one of these reports, the casuals will now have access to all of this without having to make any of the effort

As others have said, nothing wrong in Mark & Co. cashing in on it, but they can't have expected people to be totally happy with their decision.

To the people moaning about the £12-50 being wasted, before you even know what benefits members are going to get, can I just put in to perspective what £12-50 is. It is 2 hours of minimum wage. So basically if you started your job flipping burgers this morning at 9am, by 11am your whole year's subscription is paid for! Look at it as a football magazine subscription with interesting articles if nothing else. Even if you don't think you have an edge any more just enjoy the bloody content and stop crying about the £12-50. £12-50 you could easily blow on the extra few drinks you didn't need, the taxi you didn't need, the take away you didn't need, etc.. etc... And that's over the course of a day, let alone a year!

There are already rumours that people who have won mini leagues thanks to this site when none of their rivals knew about it will be stripped of their titles, much the same way Juventus were back in 2006. That's going to be a nightmare logistically handing back prize money etc, not to mention the shame of admitting to friends/colleagues that you've had an unfair advantage over them and basically have been cheating.

Well I won 2 years in a row, and I told everyone about this site.

But how the hell is it cheating?

That's like saying the reason you won a pub quiz is because you read some newspapers and read some books.

Well what are people worrying about then? Maybe once they've been stripped of their mini league title for cheating they'll be given it back eventually. If it's good enough for La Vecchia Signora...

Why would people be "stripped of their title" if it's not cheating?

I put it to you, that if reading articles about players and keeping abreast of injuries etc is cheatng, then the very act of reading the sports section of a newspaper is cheating too.

Your argument is paper thin, and to be honest it sounds like you've imagined up the whole scenario just to have a sulk on the internet.

If you paid to have access to a season ticker, OPTA stats and exclusive members articles, plus the new content that's coming, all that is still there.

I would like to moan. IMO FFS have Sold Out. In my opinion the relationship between Fantasy Premier League and Fantasy Football Scout has now become wayyy too incestuous. Especially in terms of Bonus points etc. If anything I would like my £12.50 membership back. FFS has now lost its "indy" appeal. Do I hold a grudge for them for selling out? No, probably would have done the same for the revenue it will bring them but for hardcore players this is a kick in the teeth

I was wondering...with all the changes occurring...would FFS be able to add the feature of when players are close to an increase or decrease in value or is that option locked in with other sites and restricted? It would be nice to have that info on here rather than having to jump across various sites for it. If not then at least that is a feature that will not be available to the new recruits in the new season unless they look for it.
