Saturday brought a whole raft of pre-season friendlies with many of the Premier League top guns stretching sinews.

Gervinho’s brace on his Arsenal debut offered an early warning sign to the chaos he can cause defences – enough to have Arsene Wenger purring in post-match anticipation. Fantasy Managers will be stroking chins, pondering the merits of the Ivorian, perturbed no doubt by his classification as a Fantasy forward.

United overcame the heat to earn another stateside victory over Chicago Fire – Wayne Rooney again on the scoresheet. Liverpool meanwhile, slipped to a surprising reversal on Humberside, Nigel Pearson’s Hull City humbling the Liverpool revolution despite debuts for Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson.

Rafael Van der Vaart’s abilities and Fantasy potential is undoubted; his brace in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Orlando Pirates will surely have him blink brighter on our pre-season radars. Enough to cause an initial squad overhaul? Tottenham’s early fixtures cause concern but the Van der Vaart pre-season form may yet force a rethink.

There were plenty of other sides in action, including Everton, Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea. With an array of friendly matches pouring in today, it pays to keep up to date with the pre-season trends.

Our pre-season form guide is up to date with all yesterday’s action, scorers and team lineups.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

now with the new bonus point system, he will be penalised, he'll never be a great scorer but he can make the likes of zamora dempsey and johnson score a lot

For those of you who have gone for Rooney, are any of you worried about the fact that United have SPURS, ARSENAL and CHELSEA in their opening 5 games?

I've not seen him in the friendlies but he's meant to be in very good form, but even so, with those 3 fixtures in their first 5, it's making me doubt bringing him in so early.

    Thoughts?

Slightly, but last season United won all of those games at home and I can see Rooney chipping in there especially in his current form.

I'll have him for a game or two then swap him out.

United could win all those games, and Rooney could score, but you wouldn't captain him vs. Arsenal or Chelsea, and other big striker have better fixtures in the meantime.

          It isn't anything.

Everyone was happy with getting CAR to the top of the league, but the process of getting people to join was very annoying.

Apparently the FPL guys weren't happy with Mark that we did it either.

G'Day Sasquatch. I think Naughton will provide some good competition for Rusty Martin. However, he played every minute of our campaign last season, so I can't see him being put at RB. The only way I can see Naughton being put into the squad is if Martin is fielded at LB and Naughton can then slip into RB. We don't have a brilliant left full back at the moment so that might be on PL's mind. We've got a friendly against Crystal Palace on Tuesday, which will be the best indication yet of our starting line up, so we'll have to take a look at that game until we can make some concrete assumptions.

Hey guys, looking for any advice or changes anyone thinks I should make.. 0.5 in the bank and team is as follows:

    Given (Kenny)
Kompany Rafael A.Cole (Figueroa, De Laet)
    Silva Albrighton Taarabt N’Zogbia (Tiote)
    Rodallega Suarez Van Persie

Figueroa and Rodallega simply in there because of Wigan’s easy early run. Also not sold on De Laet or Tiote’s job security so a bit unsure on them.

Yeah, actually being on the pitch for lengthy amounts of time also helps a lot (hence Hernandez & Nani's poor scores).

Hi lads, this is the team i've come up with at the moment, haven't been tinkering much and i don't expect many changes till its nearer to the deadline.

    Given (Kenny)
    A.Cole, Kompany, Samba (Hughes, Simpson)
    Lampard, Y.Toure, N'Zogbia, B.Arfa (Sinclair)
    Suarez, Zamora, Rodallega

Ben Arfa was pretty good last season before he had his long term injury so I'm thinking of taking a punt on him. Keeper and defense seems pretty much standard as others more or less. Only dodgy bit is if Suarez will start after his Copa America exploits, and whether Zamora and Rodallega can deliver. Got 0.5m in the bank.

Yeah the forwards are too heavy and the midfield is too light. Downgrade Torres or RVP to Rodellega or Ba (I'm leaning towards Rodellega myself). Use the funds to upgrade Moses and Tchoyi to 6.5-7.5 mids, most notably Sessegnon and maybe Sinclair or something. Plus Barton is pretty expensive to have on the bench, downgrade him to Buzsaky.

not when the teams are still changing 11 players at halftime in their friendlies
at this stage, the useful thing is to make a watchlist of teh players to monitor, and 1 week befoer gw1 a starting eleven is picked from this watchlist

he's right to fight it, selling nasri and fabs means he has no creative midfield to go with for seasons to come.
he will have to rebuild a team again...
plus if fabs leaves and nasri becomes the leader of this team from midfield, he'll probably stay then.
the only problem is that nasri considers that he lifted the team on his shoulders at the start of the season when fabs was struggling with injuries and deserves a similar contract to him (or very close)

    Torn between:

    A) Hangeland + Holt(current combo)

    AND

    B) Cashley + Ranger(or some other 4.5 striker.Suggest.)

Just doesn't seem right leaving either one of those two defenders out but with Baines and Kompany already there,I can only afford one. What do you guys think?

Basically, if I had a boat (inflatable) and a river within my vicinity, I would rate your team as 2 boat drinks out of 5. The ones I would be looking to cast out with be dead weights like Hoola, Segway, Dyer and even Zamora. There be better dem players out dere, lad.

        Thanks for the rate, guys!

Yaya is my Man City attacking coverage as I can't stretch for Silva. It's probably either Yaya or none.

I feel Hoola is a decent pick at that price. Not many to choose from at that price range. I could use the 0.5 to get Sinclair but then I would have 2 Swansea mids, which is sometihng I don't like. As for Seg, he is OOP and from what I heard, Bruce is planning to build the team around him. Moreover, Sunderland usually start the season well, if I'm not wrong. Even if I'm wrong about Seg, it's easy to change him as there are lots of options in the 6.5 range.

Dyer is just bench fodder. As long as he's a starter for Swansea, he's in.

        Cheers!

hey goodfish. You seem like a good candidate to be my soulmate. I have a survey for love compatibility and its very stringent.

If you would like to continue you application to Jason Dozzell's love emporium then please answer the following questions.

        Justin Bieber OR Andrey Arshavin?
Thundercats or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors?

Ooo, you are a saucy one. I like. I VERY LIKE!

In answer to your first question, may I answer in French? Hmmm, mais oui, n'est pas?

OK, so...Starting with a toughie...Hmmm, I would like to deep fry Bieber's tiny little hands, so I think Arshavin wins this one.

Second question, and it's a great one for the ages. Jayce wins because I always used to wet my pants when I heard the words, "There's a power that comes from deep inside.." That's all I needed.

Your final question is a doodleboogerloo, it's gotta be Sinclair, but if you put money in thy purse you could go for a little bit of a Taarabt?
