The first version of our season 2011/12 Player Projections are now available to our Members.

Members will find the Projections for each position by logging on to the Members Area and navigating to the relevant section. Use the top menu bar to view tables by position.

These Projections offer our first attempt at predicting the returns for players over the 2011/12 season. They are based on various factors including past performance, their Opta data, the likelihood of rotation, likelihood of injury and suspension, absence due to the African Nations Cup and finally, our opinion on whether they will rise or fall in fortune over the coming season.

The Projection tables include our prediction for goals, assists, clean sheets, yellow cards, Fantasy Premier League Bonus and Fantasy Premier League points.

Hours have been spent purring over calculations and data and then the Scout team have offered their view on the current standings with final tweaks made today.

These are not our final projections – given that we have had very few pre-season matches to assess formations and starting lineups, changes are inevitable. Only today the impending transfer of Charles N’Zogbia to Villa caused a change in the projections, with N’Zogbia himself tweaked, along with Marc Albrighton and Victor Moses of Wigan.

Such changes will be ongoing. It’s likely will be revised on a daily basis as the pre-season matches and summer transfers create extra variables and influence our thinking. We will of course notify you of any major changes and updates as and when they are implemented.

For now though, enjoy pulling apart this first effort.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    For the initial team:

Bent included - meaning without Villa mid (N Zog, Albr), or
Without Bent - meaning Albr or N Zog in our initial team.

Thoughts why is one better than the other? What is better value, having in mind that we have only 3 strikers in our teams, penalties etc.

Do u remember how defensive minded manager Mccleish is? That is too much IMO. Better to double in defense IMO.

At the minute I am favouring Bent as due to Nzog's price i am left with a choice of either him or Yaya.
In order to cover city going forward Yaya is the cheapest way in and that edges it for me.

Other than that I think Nzog will do very well at villa and Im sure he will end up in my team at some point.

It's a shame Park doesn't play more often for United. He's be certainly one to consider.

It seems Fergie uses him more in Europe and for games where they'll been run ragged for 90 minutes.

If fergie sticks to what he says and doesnt get another CM will Anderson be the main man in united's mid?

Or Giggs? He is getting on abit but plays well in that sort of role.

I'm a bit puzzled with the defenders projections... They've predicted Jones to only start 12 games for Man U this season.

Do you think he'll swap between Ferdinand and Jones to partner Vidic, or Jones take Ferdinand's place?

Jones won't be taking Ferdinand's place this year IMO unless it's another injury plagued one for Rio.

Even then, Smalling is first in line to step into the fold at centre back.

The beauty about Jones though (and why I've selected him myself) is that he looks as though he's got the ability to play multiple positions, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets games at full-back or even midfield, especially as Utd are a little lacking in depth in both areas.

Hi guys, would love a bit of help with my team. I think im nearly there but my defence is a bit heavy. Maybe looking to take out A cole and upping my midfield but want to stick with my aim of midfields that will be architects for their teams. Any suggestions?

    Baines / A Cole / Kompany / Simpson / Orr

What do people think of this? Think I’m finally closing in on my final line-up!

    Given, Al Habsi
    Kompany, Cahill, Enrique, Simpson, Hangeland
    Silva, Downing, N’Zogbia, Moses, Sinclair
    Suarez, RVP, Holt

I have Downing and Suarez because the way I see it, Downing will get assists for Carroll and a few goals of his own, while Suarez will create chances for others and himself, so by having both I cover both eventualities.
I will get rid of Enrique for someone like Jagielka if he doesn’t get a transfer, and downgrade Al-Habsi to Ruddy.

    Thoughts appreciated, thanks!

Depends a lot on signings, I can see us signing an LB + CB to start still, but at the moment:

      Kelly - Carragher - Agger - Johnson

However, Skrtel will get a lot of games because Carragher and Agger will miss matches through injury.

    CASHLEY KOMPANY HUGHES (BARDSLEY SIMPSON)
YAYA MOSES TAARABT LAMPARD (N DYER)
    RVP CARROLL HOLT

Not sure about Given or moses. Suarez too much of a risk and now liverpool have wingers, in goes carroll. Taarabt new but he is the heartbeat of QPR and should see a points return every 2 weeks. Dyer is my cheapy, Ruddy and Simpson also play every week which adds to the permabench preference.

    A dilemma needs solving...

Keep Baines and Saurez OR go Roonatic and a 5.5 defender (Rafael or one of Cahill/Jagielka/Samba if they go to Arsenal).

I keep wavering back and forth on this one...

I like Rooney's form atm. You get decent defs for 5.5. Id say Samba. Or even Bardsley if you want to free up 0.5mill.

Suarez is an unlikely started for the 1st two GWks as we know.

What do you all think of this squad?

    Given/Robinson

    Baines/Luiz/Kompany/Hangeland/Simpson

    Cahill/Walcott/Albrighton/Tarrabt/Sincliar

    Zamora/Vaughan/Bent

I think i have possibly shelled out a bit too much on Walcott and Cahill. But from a reasoning perspective, this is Cahill’s full first injury free pre-season in years and Walcott has looked good so far in pre-season making all the right noises etc, plus his record against Newcastle and Liverpool is pretty decent over the last few seasons.

Man City, Chelsea, Villa & Fulham all have fairly kind starts to the season so my plan is to stick with what I have before wildcarding around GW6 and getting in two of Fabregas / RVP / Rooney in.

    Regarding the Baines/Arteta penalty situation.

This was the match i think where the confusion came from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9469208.stm

Baines took the penalty after Arteta had missed his, and was also off the pitch when Baines took it, in the same match.

    The assistant manager then said:

"Missing the first penalty put us back a bit but I don't think Leighton would have missed the second one. Neither of them (Mikel Arteta or Leighton Baines) is the designated penalty taker, it depends on the day - they both practice them so we'll continue with those two.

Was there any news from Moyes after this saying that Baines is his no.1 pen taker, or am i imagining things.
