Chelsea find their feet and rack up the goals, with Frank Lampard -significantly playing on the right of the central midfield three- opening the scoring in a 4-0 romp.

New boy Darren Pratley stakes his claim for a mid-price starting berth in the Bolton midfield with his second goal in three games for Owen Coyle’s side. Victor Moses warms to the N’Zogbia wing role. Mario Balotelli enrages Roberto Mancini with an impudent back-heel when clean through on goal and is substituted straight away.

With just three weeks to go, we’re beginning to get some handy pointers with would-be first choice players now starting to earn more pitch time and formations perhaps resembling those on show on August 13.

Our pre-season guide has been fleshed out with all the latest results, with our team news notes now filling up with insight on form and lineup trends.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    schwarzer/given

    hangeland/simpson/rafael/de laet/shittu

    rodallega/rooney/zamora

My initial thoughts are my defence is pretty weak? What do you think lads??

I wouldn't go for Young. Utd's midfield is too uncertain. Defence is quite weak.

    1. O'Hara or Sinclair for mid-priced midfielder?

    2. Zamora or Ba for third striker?

1)i think it depends if you have any other players from those teams - i'd go for different players to get coverage

      2) zamora easy

    Suarez [c], Zamora, Hernandez

I see r.v.p as essential till he gets injured, your possible captain choices leave alot to be desired for and you have too many rotation risks eg hernandez , rafeal , luiz

What's wrong with Suarez/VDV captain choices? Both score lots and provide many assists. VDV on set pieces too.

Rafael will surely be Utd's first choice RB. Hernandez may be a rotation risk but he still managed to score a heap of pts last year. I think Andre V-B will play Luiz a lot, what with the Portuguese connection etc.

        RVP costs too much IMO.

I've just taken out Wilshere and replaced him with Sinclair. That freed up an extra 0.5 which I used to replace Hughes with Samba. Samba as a sub will be excellent back-up to my defensive 3 should one of them be rotated.

Sessegnon is now in my starting midfield because he has potentially easier fixtures than Sinclair. Sinclair should be a decent addition because, coupled with his set-piece duties, he scores regularly for the Swans.

Do you have to go for either?

I wouldn't go for two defenders of the same club personally. But then I think that Baines is over-valued at 8.0. Maybe go for someone like A. Cole (7.5) and upgrade the 9.0 mid to Nasri?

i have ACole... I like baines because to me he is like a midfielder, he is on set pieces (potentially on pens too) he is likely to outscore 8.0 mids

But will he get many bonus pts this year? Maybe better to spread the money around players from more successful clubs.

    Is.....

Bedknobs and boomsticks - Christina - Demi - RBJ (lol)- daniel/leinad and MMW still posting on this site - If so make yourself heard..

to be fair there are loads of other guys who were great closed season posters you i am missing a little bit...

some new posters have been ace too though like..

Food for thought here.... its great everyone posting - traffic for FFS is good - but rather than just post RMTs why dont people comment on other peoples RMTs and get discussions going (if you have one hold back for a few minutes, comment on other RMTs and share the love..
I often post possible teams/ post what i have settled for as a means of getting people involved - sharing views e.t.c..(like in the closed season)

IF people keep RMT-ing we will just end with a list of names with no real meaning

its pre-season, RMTs are going to be rife as that is all people have to talk about to be honest.

i get your point though, way too many people posting a RMT and not contributing anything else than that and its the same people answering questions.

such is life though i guess..

    RMT please,

    Given, AL Habsi.
    Baines, Jones, Kompany, O'Shea, Briggs.
Sinclair, Bale, Yaya Toure, Nzogbia, Ephraim.
    Van Persie, Suarez, Ba.

Not sure if Jones will start for ManU, and Nzog might need a few weeks to settle in at Villa. I'm considering swapping RVP for Rooney too.

I think Baines is overpriced for a defender, perhaps downgrade him and replace Phil Jones (a definite rotation risk).

      Midfield looks good bar Ephraim.

Nice front 3. I'd keep RVP if you can afford him. Perhaps you might wanna downgrade him to, say, Gervinho or Berbatov so you can then use excess funds to upgrade Ephraim?

    Nani(c), Lampard, Taarabt, Barton, Sinclair.
    Van Persie, Holt. (Graham)

    3-5-2

What do you guys think? Scrimped too much on forwards maybe? Any advice appreciated

Al-Makalabay has been released and wont play 1 min in prem.

Huth is great, fixtures arent though, kompany is the obvious swap

Nani (c) is brave, will he even start with young and valencia around?

Holt and Graham up top is risky, ideally need to at least have one of those at Rodellaga/zamora level IMO
