When it comes to midfielders, Arsene Wenger doesnโ€™t have his troubles to seek. The Gunners boss, having seen his sideโ€™s pre-season preparation blighted by the continual speculation over the futures of skipper Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, has confirmed Theo Walcott has flown home from the clubโ€™s training camp in Bonn due to an injury picked up in training.

Walcott sat out Mondayโ€™s training and boarded a flight home from Germany yesterday, ahead of this weekendโ€™s Emirates Cup. The Arsenal boss, while not suggesting itโ€™s a serious problem, did admit:

โ€œTheo went home early and was due to have an MRI on Tuesday. It is an old ankle injury from the end of last season. Itโ€™s one that comes and goes.

โ€œWe need some more investigation because sometimes heโ€™s completely free of it and sometimes it affects him. But we had to send him back because he couldnโ€™t practice anymore.โ€

The news is a source of frustration for Fantasy managers- Walcott looks good for plenty starts on the right this season and coming in at 9.0 in Fantasy Premier League, may prove to be something of a bargain if one, or both, of Fabregas and Nasri follow the lead of Gael Clichy and depart for pastures new.

While new signing Gervinho could be an alternative in his possible absence, FPL have classified the former Lille man as a forward, and priced him at 9.0. Robin Van Persie is likely to be the front man of choice for the majority of Fantasy managers, however, leaving many to hope the likes of Nasri stays put, with the Frenchman surely a nailed-on starter for Wenger in the upcoming season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Given, Al Habsi

    Clichy, Kompnay, Bardsley, Enrique, Briggs

    Malouda, Silva, Tarrabt, Sinclair, Hoolahan

    Suarez, Bent, Zamora

MF isn't the strongest but has reasonable rotation- could downgrade Given to de Vries and upgrade Hoolahan to Albrighton?

Looks good. Maybe downgrade Lampard to Malouda or Yaya to Albrighton and improve Orr perhaps to Bardsley/Jagielka/Distin/O'Shea?

Or even downgrade Lamps to Albrighton/Nzog and upgrade def to Ivanovic (or another) and a MF upgrade to Barton for e.g.

As an Italian that has seen him play a lot he can be brilliant but can also be very sloppy. I don't know if he would suit the english game when he wont have as much time on the ball.

He could be going to PSG also.

I'm probably the only one on here that feels this way but I would LOVE to see Man City let in a goal or 2 every game for atleast the first 4 GWs, it would totally screw with so many peoples squads, I would love the madness that would come with it and all the WCs and transfer fees.

Heres hoping for unpredictableness (is that even a word?).

You know, I dont know if its sad or depressing to acknowledge this but that is seriously my favorite time of the week.

For us over here in Canada, game time is like 4am, which despite being early as hell never feels like it once the game is on and I'm looking at all the madness going on in here.

        Good times............

For all those Lampard lovers out there the good news is he scored today against kitchee through a penalty.

The bad is that he and I quote from the chelsea website 'played deep alongside zhirkov in a 4-2-3-1 formation. He also played deep in the 4-3-3 formation recently. Predictably he didn't get any assists.

Worth 12 mill? Not in my book.

Did it cross your mind that AVB might be assessing Lampard's adaptability in certain positions? I reckon AVB is well aware that Lampard can play more attacking positions well, and suggest that he was deployed deeper today as a pre-cursor to what might happen if and when Chelsea need some attacking flair from the bench in PL games... that way AVB will know he can depend on a slightly fatigued Lampard dropping deeper and taking off someone else like Mikel(or whoever else was playing defensive mid), who isn't really a potential game winner like Lampard...

Just my two cents... don't read too much into pre-season...

i can't believe the amount of rubbish people are putting on the bench - finished top 1500 last year and relied on bench extensively!

i would advise against that temptingly cheap bench of orr, simpson and ferguson given that as soon as one of your xi is injured your left with complete rubbish who won't play or let 3 goals in every week!

I think it's okay if the players are a bit rubbish as long as they will start. Hence this Dyer chap at Swansea is a good bench warmer but Ferguson is not.

dyer maybe - but didn't he get about 1 goal and 3 assists all last year in the championship? doesn't sinclair do everything at swansea - i should say i actually have dyer in my mf at the moment as my (very) cheap player

there were quite a few occasions last year when i had players who supposedly weren't doubts at all who then dropped out or injured themselves in the warm up!

Anyone else having a problem with getting 'Chelsea attacking coverage'

Torres and Drogba = rotation risks. Torres out of form. BADLY
Malouda and Benayoun = rotation risk
    Lamps = overpriced.

Did have Malouda but thinking of going without untill we get a better idea.

VDV a better option for .5 less probably? Guarenteed games and set-pieces. Plus all the tough Spurs games are at home, and they're guarenteed goals surely (not wins or clean sheets...obviously)

For teams outside the top 4/5 I always prefer their 'tough' (like there's any easy ones!) games against the top sides to be away so they're an easy rest that week. Find it more difficult when their fixture list for one half of the season has them home to more top sides rather than away.

Sessegnon's one of those OOP bandwagons (there don't seem to be any others this season?) but I don't fancy backing Sunderland's attacking players one bit.

Cashley from the start, but Baines too. I'll probably wait until September for him though.

Dunno what the Toffee watchers think, but I'd say Baines has a really good shout of being on pens. Arteta missed his last one and Baines is 100% on that front, I believe. I suppose Saha is in the mix too.

Heh - no I actually quite like Berbs. I think his touch is amazing and I especially love seeing him live as you miss a lot of what he does watching on TV.

Was just being a bit sarcastic that his Bulgarian saying is equally true for poor quality - don't need to work hard to achieve that either.

I'm gonna get a lot of people disagreeing with me but I think Berbs is a poacher and that he scored most of his goals against soft sides last year.

If he was as good as you think he is, he wouldnt have been left out of the sqaud during the Champions League final, the reason he was is that there is no way he would get away with poaching goals against such a high quality team as Barca.

He catches soft sides out of place and scores easy goals, thats where he is gravy but thats not saying alot. He has a good head for the game and has a good shot but he is not an all around complete player. Let the hate begin lol.

Hi, can I have some feedback on my (current) team please:

    Given Kenny
    Kompany Riise Rafael Simpson Bramble
    Lampard Barton Moses Sinclair Taraabt
    Rooney Carroll Holt
    1.5 Mill in the bank

Ideal plan is to downgrade Barton to Ben Arfa and change Carroll to VP
Also if a cheaper Chelsea midfielder becomes a good cheaper option I will take out Lamps upgrade Bramble to Bardsley (though I think he's a sure starter), and upgrade Moses.

    I like that Given-Kenny, Bramble-Simpson & Sinclair-Taraabt are all perfect swaps.

Grant Holt: all i'm going to say is the last 3 years he has stepped up a league each year and broke the 20 goal barrier, odds on him doing it for a 4th year? Haha

Don't think you need to upgrade Carroll to RVP, just switch out Rooney for RVP in GW4. I'd rather Saurez than Carroll but I can understand going with Carroll for the first couple GWs. I feel the same way regarding Lamps but I think Moses is a good 5.0 to have as a 5th midfielder and unless plays like total $*@#! I'd say keep him. I agree with you regarding Holt but not so sure about Rafael nailing down a spot yet.

    Given, Ruddy
Kompany, Rafael, A Cole, Simpson, Orr
N'Zogbia, Malouda, Yaya Toure, Taarabt, Ferguson
    RVP, Bent, A Johnson

Are there any improvements you think I could make? Feedback would be great.

Grant Holt is pretty rubbish, but then so is DJ Campbell. At least he's on pens. Let's hope Borwich go for it this season - he'll be decent value if so I reckon.

Thinking Distin, o'shea, or collins or dunne?

this is my first year doing fantasy football so would love some feedback on my teams.

I have two strategies when it comes to my selections. 1 stong defence weak mid strong forwards. 2 weak defence decent mid strong forwards.

Think a strong forward line is important they get the goals right?

    option 1

    Given/Ruddy
richards, enrique (be at lfc soon?)rafeal/orr, figeroua
    taarabt, wilshire, downing, nzogbia/marveux
    bent, suarez, rooney(c)

    option 2
    Given/ruddy
    luiz, rafeal, kompany/orr,simpson
    sinclair, nzogbia, downing, taarabt/marveux
    bent suarez, rooney (c)

quite similiar but also very different, thanks

What are people's opinions on Matt Briggs of Fulham?

Dirt cheap, decent team, has played in all four of Fulhams competetive (Europa qual) games this pre-season, scoring once and, importantly, being pushed up to left wing by the inclusion of JA Riise, "a position which he filled admirably" according to the Fulham website, in their most recent game, a 4-0 win last week.

Looks like he could be a bargain, and, only owned by 0.4% of managers, and with Fulhams attractive early fixtures, could easily rise in price a few points in the first month.

    Thoughts?

Slipped under my radar a bit, would appear to be a bit of a 'bargain', something that seems a lot more rare this FPL season. Did he start and play most/all of the europa games or was he sub? If he's gonna be a regular starter I'm gonna include him if he's starter especially because of Fulham's nice start fixture wise.

I've heard suarez might cut he holiday short to get back for the start of season, but if he doesn't may go with carroll.

Last season i started with a cheap poo defence and stuck with it for a while but suffered coz of lack of goals or assists from defenders so this season i want attacking defenders like baines and ivanovic

Get rid of adam as he's in a very competative midfield. Liverpool have so many options in the middle with new signings that I don't think he is worth the risk. I would put some more money into the forward line.
