Manchester City have this evening announced the signing of Sergio Aguero. After prolonged negotiations over the past twenty-four hours, both parties have finally reached agreement and the Argentine joins up at the Etihad Stadium on a five-year deal.

Having been linked with both Juventus and Real Madrid this close season, the forward has instead opted to join the Abu-Dhabi owned Premier League club and his arrival brings a true world-class talent to these shores ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Third top scorer in La Liga last season, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo scored more in Spain’s top-flight and Aguero will surely bring plenty goals to Roberto Mancini’s front line as they battle for silverware on a number of fronts.

Quite what this means for the likes of Carlos Tevez is another matter, however, but Aguero’s addition to the Premier League is exciting news for City fans and Fantasy managers alike. A look at the Season Ticker sees Mancini’s side kick-off the 2011/12 campaign with a home game against Swansea and also host Wigan in gameweek 4. Not only will he be drafted in by plenty, there’s every chance Aguero will also be sporting many Fantasy armbands come 11.30am on Saturday 13th August as the big-spenders look to start the season in commanding form.

A full Scout Report on the situation will follow tomorrow.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Depends on if Arsenal sign another centre back. There's a possibility of Vermaelen being moved to left back.

If by "punt" you mean 'useless, quick-for-nothing left back who won't start', then yes, I agree.

But otherwise it's definitely Sagna Koscielny Vermaelen Gibbs.

How good is Jenkinson? Is he going to offer competition to Sagna?

      Yup, world class player.

Genuine shame he won't be partnered up front by Tevez ðŸ™

Still, difficult to see what a prohibitive price would be with his quality and fixtures. Fingers firmly crossed that he'll be in the VDV category of undervalued players.

There was a rumoured offer from City a while back that Tevez stays with them for 2 seasons, then he could move for free to a team of his choice. Assuming he has more than 2 years on his contract thats a good enough deal.

It'd be nice if he does. At least he has a bit of an Argentinian connection with Aguero (and Maradona a bit more, I guess). Who knows? There's no club defence that would fancy trying to keep them out.

Posted a mini essay earlier. Repost for everyone 🙂

    Captaincy is everything.

    Lampard + Dyer + Moses
    VS
    Benayoun + Yaya + Taarabt

You have to bench one and captain one.

    Let’s say the scores went:

    Lampard – 16
    Moses – 2
    Dyer – 1

    Benayoun – 6
    Toure – 8
    Taarabt – 6

Team one with Dyer benched permanently and Lampard captain would score 34 points this week

Team two who would score 24 points in a best case scenario. This happens every week. Who’s going to come out on top?

Do the same with the points per game statistic from last season, and you'll soon realize it works out over the season.

It's just a theory, but it basically points toward having a few really expensive players over an even spread.

I'm inclined to agree, however I don't think you put your points across very well, you tend to state your theories as facts and come off as arrogant in the process.

I don't beleive you intend to, and I know you help a lot of people in their RMT's etc. I just think your writing needs some work.

Your obviously a good player who looks at things very in depth, however 1 good season does not an FPL God make.

Thanks for that. Will look into improving the way I communicate. But yes, I have no intention of being arrogant, and I don't claim to know everything or that my opinion is any greater than anyone else's.

Yes this is all theoretical, but over time, the trend will be more or less the same.

At the end, Lampard will most likely outscore the best players from the other team by a good 30-50 points.

That's a large sum more in captaincy points. Also, there's the bench points lost, and you will get it wrong enough times to cost you. Benching Taarabt the week he gets 12 and Benayoun when he makes a sub appearance etc.

Basically, what I'm trying to prove here is that having a few really expensive reliable captaincy choices is a better strategy than having a good squad of 15.

Because I don't think he's one of the more reliable captaincy picks anymore. His new position could really hurt his potential.

I used a poor example with him. Probably should have used RVP instead.

I think most people captain their most reliable players - you don't need to base that on any calculations, it's common sense.

Sure, but if your most reliable players give you only Rooney and Bent to choose from like some of the RMTs going, you're not going to do well.

Super defense heavy teams are therefore not valid choices. At best, having two heavy defenders who are reliable enough to sub for midfielders. That's the value of Baines really.

This i my opinion of the way the game works - please feel free to correct me 🙂

At the end of the day this game is all about evolution of your team.

You pick your team at the start based on your 'best guess' of who is going to perform well, however reality is often a cruel cruel git, who laughs at your well thought out plans, kicks sand in your face and then mocks you while walking off with your girl. Or at least thats how it can feel ðŸ™

Keeping your ear to the groud and keeping your team agile enough to respond to the changing nature of the game without points hits is key in my opinion. Being in the right place at the right time to pick up the bargains just as they come on song is brilliant and can often net you a heap of points before others catch onto the bandwagon, by which time you are cashing in on the price rises and better able to pick who you want towards the end of the season, where other players don't have the budget to get the next big bandwagon player.

Picking the right captain at the right time is crucial to stay ahead, but even the best players have dips in form (ala drogba around xmas last season).

I also think that the first 10 weeks of the season are crucial. You need to be getting a healthy advantage over your competition while the teams still have lots of differentials. After a while all the teams end up almost the same anyway, and room for manouvre is harder at the end of the season after the good players get price hikes.

Pretty much in a nutshell - you snooze you loose.

i won't die and lose the season for waiting one or two weeks. he might not even start right away and just make a sub appearance or something knowing mancini. it's just a risk and there are a lot of strikers to choose from for gw 1.

My team is looking like ending up with RVP, Suarez/Aguero and a cheapie up front, only problem is, cant decide between Holt and Graham for the cheap 3rd striker.

My instinct says Graham will do better, but my head says to go for the tried and tested Grant Holt, seeing as Graham might take time to bed in at Swansea.

Please RMT - very interested to hear comments and opinions from all you experts!

    Given, Shwarzer

    Kompany, Luiz, Rafael, Kelly, Briggs

    NZog, Benayoun, Ethrington, Taarabt, Sessegnon

    Rooney, Carroll, Rodellega

Surely Luiz is a nailed on starter? Same for Rafael - who else is there at right back now O'Shea, Brown, Neville are gone?

Briggs is only 4mil and may actually play midfield apparently - hopefully another Coleman!
