Manchester City have this evening announced the signing of Sergio Aguero. After prolonged negotiations over the past twenty-four hours, both parties have finally reached agreement and the Argentine joins up at the Etihad Stadium on a five-year deal.

Having been linked with both Juventus and Real Madrid this close season, the forward has instead opted to join the Abu-Dhabi owned Premier League club and his arrival brings a true world-class talent to these shores ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Third top scorer in La Liga last season, only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo scored more in Spain’s top-flight and Aguero will surely bring plenty goals to Roberto Mancini’s front line as they battle for silverware on a number of fronts.

Quite what this means for the likes of Carlos Tevez is another matter, however, but Aguero’s addition to the Premier League is exciting news for City fans and Fantasy managers alike. A look at the Season Ticker sees Mancini’s side kick-off the 2011/12 campaign with a home game against Swansea and also host Wigan in gameweek 4. Not only will he be drafted in by plenty, there’s every chance Aguero will also be sporting many Fantasy armbands come 11.30am on Saturday 13th August as the big-spenders look to start the season in commanding form.

A full Scout Report on the situation will follow tomorrow.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Finally, I've seen the light:

    Given (Ruddy)
Baines - Kompany - Briggs (Bramble, Simpson)
    Lampard - O'Hara - Dunn - Silva(C) (Dyer)
    Bent (V) - Rodallega - Suarez

Please don't RMT. It's great for rotation, a lot of set-piece takers, and everything!
Arsenal and MU coverage will have to wait a couple of weeks but I can live with that.

Dunn, Rodallega and O'Hara can be replaced with better players, but your team is definitely heading in the right direction.

Best to keep 0.5 in the bank for upgrades once the season starts. Otherwise you're having to downgrade before you can upgrade.

This is why I'm going cheap in midfield...the big hitters just aren't worth it, at least at the moment. So on that basis, I'm thinking big guns up top and at the back and a cheap midfield could be the way to go.

Lampard - unsure of position, maybe even rotation risk.
    Malouds - possible rotation risk.
Nani/Valencia/Young - all very much rotation risks.
    Gerrard - injured.
Fabregas - no idea where his head is at the moment or if he'll even be there.
Silva - probably the best of the bunch IMO.
Kuyt - fine if he's on pens, otherwise expensive and not great fixtures.
VDV - poor fixtures for the first few.

I know I'm looking on the negative side for the purposes of my point, but I can't see that any of that is wildly inaccurate.

Don't think Nani will be rotated much will he? Him and Young no?

It's interesting most go for Taarabt over Wilshere. Wilshere, Fab or no Fab will be starting most games no? I s'pose with Nasri and Fab.

What about Robbie Keane as a sub? Rumours that he will leave Tottenham, and if he does for Sunderland he might be a decent shout.

AP - your point about Diarra on the last page is bang on (as I'm sure I've mentioned before). He was unbelievable at Pompey, without doubt the best I've ever seen playing for us and 99% would agree I'm sure.

Would be a brilliant signing for United and as long as it's not Tottenham (though it probably will be) I'd be delighted to see him back in England.

Prosinecki was different....a genius who we loved, but he was dying on his ar5e by the time he signed for us, whereas Lass was just an incredible world class footballer who hadn't even peaked.

I remember his press conference when he signed, he basically said "I'm too good for you and I won't be here long" and he wasn't wrong!

Just because a defender starts, it doesntly necessarily add up to it being a good thing. I'd rather my defender not start if the team he plays on lets in 2 or more goals a game on a regular basis. In my opinion I think it would be too big of a risk to have more than one of the promoted teams defenders, especially if you already have a goalie from one of them.

Should be Williams and Monk at CB but Caulker is getting the nod in pre-season with Monk injured and could start the season. Taylor and Rangel at FB's.

I remember him talking about not selling Samba this summer. The quote went something along the lines of:

"He wants Champions League football now, we should be able to give him that in 3 or 4 years, but obviously we can't right now"

I reckon Venky's are pushing him to say stuff like that. He might not be a great manager, but he's not delusional.

With VDV a sure thing for GW1, it not only gives you a nailed on mid but also gives you time to see what Chelsea is going to do with its midfield.

am i the only one who is shocked at peoples speed to drop top players simply due to fixtures??? Top players (excluding torres) will nearly always return the points in whatever fixture. even against difficult opposition a 3-3 draw or even 2-2 can reap huge rewards...

hence VDV being great whatever his early fixtures

hmm true but ya unlikely to keep changing one player week to week dependant on fixtures. sometimes best to keep them throughout and use transfers elsewhere. Altho there is always at least one must have each GW! usually a big player with a great fixture...hang on...im now argueing against my own point arent i? hmmmm square 1

I think you need a balance between certain starters and rotation...

      I always play 3-4-3

I have 2 certain starters in DF and MF then 3 certain strikers...

The rest are based on a home rotation policy

I think that would depend if the player is known for scoring in away games and also whether the team he is playing against is defensivly strong or not. VDV is good but even he will have a harder time scoring against the likes of Man U and Man City in GWs 2 & 3 compared to him playing against a promoted side.

I know it was a bad joke -

Modric if he goes to chelsea otherwise not many points other than BP

What is interesting that Bale and Downing both scored 7 goals last season. Bale is more influential and occasionally prolific. Depends on who you think will take the 5th place spot in the league... Liverpool or Tottenham its a close call
