Man City hammer Inter as David Silva pulls the strings. Alan Pardew’s unhappy. Wesley Sneijder fails to write off a move away from Inter and Daniel Sturridge wants to stay at the Bridge thanks to a new-found freedom. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

Bolton have been linked with a move for Shaun Wright-Phillips following the sickening leg-break injury to Chung Yong-Lee. The Man City star would fit seamlessly into Owen Coyle’s starting XI, though his wages may prove to be a stumbling block. The Trotters’ new signing Chris Eagles can play on the right flank and comes in at 5.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), though Coyle has been playing Eagles as a support striker in recent games, meaning a possible right wing role for Gretar Steinsson or Tyron Mears if Coyle fails to bring in re-inforcements. With both listed as 4.5 defenders, it’s a situation worth monitoring.

Staying on the subject of Bolton, Coyle has also been linked with another loan move for Daniel Sturridge as he looks to shuffle his pack. Citing his great relationship with Andre Villas-Boas, Coyle then proceeded to lavish praise on Sturridge, with his admiration for the player very much apparent:

Daniel is such an outstanding young talent but I think he has to play week in, week out now. He’s had six months of being a regular starter with us and he will probably know he’s got to start these games now. I played him through the middle and he was sensational for me. I always felt he wanted to play through the middle…

If Sturridge‘s latest comments are anything to go by, however, Coyle’s pursuit of the player may prove to be a fruitless one. Sturridge seems a happy man under Villas-Boas and in light of the club’s sixth straight pre-season win, has been talking of a new-found freedom to his play:

The manager has given me the licence to express myself and I don’t think I have had that before with any manager. He has let me off the leash and said go out and enjoy yourself. I have a lot more freedom than I have ever had and I think I enjoy my football more..

It is not just me either; everyone feels like that. He wants us to attack and not be too defensive. That is refreshing. The tour has been great. The manager has shown faith in me.

Fantasy managers will be crossing their fingers and hoping Sturridge does depart Stamford Bridge, though; at 6.5 in FPL his performances for Bolton last season suggest he’ll be a real bargain. If he stays at Chelsea, squad rotation looks likely to kill off his Fantasy potential.

Javier Hernandez’s Gold Cup exploits for Mexico and the subsequent rest period was always going to mean the striker had some catching up to do in terms of match fitness. With the striker now sidelined with concussion, his pre-season training schedule has been further disrupted and Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted the player may not be available until the end of August, meaning there’s a chance Hernandez may not see any Premier League game time until game week 4, in mid September:

Javier was always going to get a break until he did his proper pre-season. In a two-week period now he’ll do some training but he won’t play. We’ll have him back in three to four weeks.

Arsenal suffered a scare in yesterday’s draw with New York Red Bulls when Jack Wilshere was withdrawn after only seven minutes with an ankle knock. With Abou Diaby already sidelined for ten weeks and Cesc Fabregas looking likely to exit the Emirates, the last thing Arsene Wenger needs is more injuries to central midfielders. The Gunners boss seemed positive on Wilshere after the match, saying:

It is not very serious. They say he might be out for the whole of next week because he has an ankle inflammation. But he has not torn anything. He is a quick healer usually and a tough boy so I hope he will be quicker than the medical predictions.

The England game is on August 10 and I don’t know [whether he will be available]. They told me he might be out next week. If he is out next week, he will not play against Benfica so he will certainly not play for England.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew was far from pleased with his club’s 3-2 loss at Leeds yesterday. Pardew fielded many first-teamers in the Elland Road defeat and despite his disappointment, was full of praise for a couple of his new summer signings after the match:

Sometimes in a game like that you learn more, and I’ve learnt more about individual players today than I have all pre-season. Cabaye was a positive – he played the holding role and you could see that, although he is a great passer, he also has defensive qualities…Demba Ba was good in all he did without actually getting a goal, and Danny Simpson played well.

Steven Taylor showed his scoring capabilities once again for Newcastle. The big centre-half grabbed his side’s first goal and served a reminder of the form that saw him score in each of his side’s final three games last term. At 4.5 in FPL, he looks a decent punt for a low-price defender.

Roberto Mancini was a happy man after Man City’s 3-0 demolition of Inter Milan. With an outstanding David Silva pulling the strings from the right flank and resultantly picking up the man of the match award, Mancini also saw Mario Malotelli and Edin Dzeko find the net as his strikers start to pick up form ahead of next weekend’s Community Shield showdown with Man United.

Post-match, Mancini praised all three players but his most intriguing comments came when the subject of Carlos Tevez arose, suggesting the striker‘s exit may not be as definite as previously thought:

When Carlos comes back on Thursday we will have four strikers fighting for the shirts. That’s good for us. When you are playing in four competitions, we need that.

Wesley Sneijder was somewhat cryptic in yesterday‘s post-match press conference in Dublin, after Inter‘s loss to Man City. The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Man United all summer and although Sir Alex Ferguson seemed to write off the chances of the transfer last week, Sneijder was not quite so pessimistic. When asked if he was likely to remain an Inter player next summer, Sneijder replied:

“What will happen? We will see. There is always a chance that something will happen, but we will see. There is always speculation. I’ve said before, I’ve played for almost 10 years at the highest level and every year there is speculation.”

Blackburn Rovers look set to finally make some leeway in the transfer market over the next few days. With Phil Jones leaving Ewood Park and talk of Chris Samba’s exit, Steve Kean looks to have a positive addition to the Rovers ranks in the form of Dundee United striker David Goodwillie.

Why do you need 6gb of RAM? That's a bit random.

That's like deciding the only requirement in your next Car is a 3 litre engine.

If you want some advice mail me at dmillward@itmanx.com

I can point you in the right direction if you tell me what you are intending to use it for. Graphic design for example needs a different type of graphics card to those used for playing games.

I think you'll want AT LEAST 12g RAM if you want to run Fantasy Premier League smoothly.

RAM doesn't automatically make it run faster though. Admittedly, for a decent processor, you probably want around that much, but... Yeah I guess it all depends. How much do you want to spend, are you going to play high-end games on it, is it going to be your main PC?

Depending on your processor, you might want to get 4 or 8 (multiples of 4) rather 6g (multiples of 3). Not to insult your intelligence but you also need to make sure your OS is 64 bit.

The architecture of some of the chips. I don't know the specifics but it's about dual channel/ triple channel. So for dual channel you want 2 sticks of ram (multiple of 4) and triple channel you want 3 sticks (multiple or 3).

Dear lord. I can understand that that would be an issue for the motherboard itself, in which case it would have 3 spare slots rather than 4/2.

But it wouldn't affect the CPU in any way.

So basically, all you've suggested is that if the motherboard in the laptop he gets is populated with 6gb of RAM, it was supposed to be. If he gets one with a multiple of 4gb, that was probably meant to be too.

It doesn't affect the CPU, but it affects the most you can get out of the computer. For example, if his laptop initially had 4gb, I'm saying don't rush out and get 2 sticks of 3gb RAM.

Without being rude... I think this is the worst RMT ive seen.

      Brown not a guanteed starter.

Tiote in the starting team not a good choice and wont always get you 2pts with the amount of yellow cards he will get.

      Ferguson wont start.

      Drogba not a guaranteed starter.

Ranger.... well hes priced at 4.5m for a reason.

Agree with Terry.... I think A.Cole at the same price would be better value, especially if AVB utilises his full backs like he did with Porto.... I actually like Bale as a good differential TBH and think he could kick off well.

Good team IMO, for me Terry to A.Cole is the only obvious swap I would make.

    Good afternoon everyone,

    I guess the main point of my post is to see what everyone thinks about the inclusion of Baines this year. When I picked my initial team he was the first name on my team sheet. But now I'm starting to feel that because of the price structure this year, spending too much in defence could effect the overall point scoring / balance of my side. Here's an example;

    A. With Baines -
    Given Ruddy
Kompany A. Cole BAINES Simpson Orr
    Taarabt YAYA DOWNING NZOGBIA Moses
    Graham Carroll TORRES
    0 in bank

    B. Without Baines -
    Given Ruddy
Kompany A. Cole WILKINSON? Simpson Orr
    Taarabt SILVA MALOUDA RAMSEY Moses
    Graham Carroll ROONEY
0.5 in bank to upgrade Ruddy, 4.0 def or Graham possibly?

What does everyone think? With option A I would basically play my big 3 defenders every week. But with option B I would play the two and then rotate the third dependant on fixtures, plus I have managed to cover the top 5 teams with decent options and have plenty of captain choices. I'm starting to think that Baines is not as essential as I first thought!

      Much prefer B.

I've currently got Ramsey as well but see how the transfers play out.

I have a feeling Cesc will leave and we'll get Mata...and Wenger will play Nasri in the middle with Wilshire and Song.

I am talking about the overall balance of my team, so surely it makes sense to show my whole side?!
Do you think that Baines plus the others will outscore team B over the first few weeks? I have my doubts to be honest, plus I have a lot more room to manoeuvre money wise, I can easily slip in RVP, Bent or VDV for example dependant on fixtures / form.

ollycee, it's a good post and something I have been wondering myself.

However the point of your post is diluted by the amount of unneccessary changes you have made in your two options. For instance, without swapping out Baines, you can still downgrade N'Zogbia to Ramsey and upgrade Torres to Rooney (I think). Therefore selling Baines is not a prerequisite for doing these 2 moves.

      You should have just said:
      Baines Yaya Downing
      OR
      Wilkinson Silva Malouda

Personally in my own team I have Baines and Kompany right now but it was originally A.Cole instead of Baines. I am still undecided who I will go with between Cole and Baines, but I am not considering having all 3 of Cole, Baines and Kompany as it would mean too much money invested in defence. For that reason I choose your option B.

    Taarabt or Benayoun?

Benayoun has looked grear in preseason but is a bit of a rotation risk
Taarabt is QPR's main man and could be this season's Charlie Adam, but there's the risk of QPR not coping with the premiership etc

An obvious question but does pre season buying affect prices after the first deadline?

The obvious exmaple is Luis Suarez who has been very heavily selected even though he probably won't start. Will Suarez go up on value because of being a popualar choice or does pre season popularity not affect price?

    Hi everyone,

People should buy players from the promoted sides & none from the top 4 sides.

I really dont get this site! If you are playing a game of cards, would you show all the people that you are playing against, any of your cards?!!

So why continue to come on hear every 10 mins with a team & asking for your opponents to rate your team?!

Asking others 'who will score more points, RVP or Rooney?' Completely stupid!!!!!!

This game is about your predictions on what players you think will do well. Asking others to pick your team for you is pointless, desparate & sad!!

The points you get are from just copying other peoples teams!

Copy & paste, because you are too stupid to pick your own team.

How can you get any delight from that?!!!

I think you've kind of missed the point, ronh. Not everyone on this site are going to be challenging for a top 100 finish. Those that are will have identified the potential bargains this year, which defences are likely to perform better than last year, and have planned when to tarnsfer the big hitters in based on fixtures alone.

They may be on this site for the community, the banter, and the ol' fashioned feel good factor of helping out players who don't or can't invest as much time as the serious players but still want to do well.

Yes, I would want to find the 'Coleman's of last year myself, but that's not always what it is about. Curb the superiority a bit.

What do people think are the obvious captain picks for the first 6 weeks or so. Near the end of last year I just tried to have whoever was top of poll on here in my team and it always seemed to work pretty well. So:
    GW1 : Tevez/Aguero/Silva? Rooney Suarez if fit
    GW2: Lamps/Drogba/Torres/Malouda Baines
    GW3: Lamps/Drogba/Torres/Malouda Bent Suarez
    GW4: RVP Tevez/Aguero/Silva
    GW5: RVP Baines
    GW6: Lamps/Drogba

Looks to me like Should start with Rooney switch to Chelsea striker GW2 then to RVP in GW4. What do other people think?

        You are a comedy genius.

What is your team if you are so 'clever', but oh no, you don't want anyone copying your precious little FPL team, because if they do, you're not going to win the overall game! And get to go to a PL game of your choice :O

You are becoming more boring than RMT's.

If you don't like it, do one. People are only asking for advice. If you don't want to answer then ignore it or f*ck off.

sounds like a good plan but what if rooney scores a hatrick in gw1 and 2. Would you trade him out because rooney is a form player

Probably not. Like all good fantas football plans it will probably go awry.

They all look good possibilities. I've dropped Lamps, despite penalties, until I'm sure he is getting in the box a lot from open play. Very expensive if he's deep imo.

an alternative to given and ruddy is schwarzer and whoever is the swansea keeper. norwich should be helped by kyle naughton but still they conceded 30 home goals last season compared to swansea's 11. different league now but that's quite a contrast

33 this year. Okay, I thought he was older than that!

Dunne and Collins in for great seasons fantasy wise, I reckon.
