Carlos Tevez takes a break. Cesc Fabregas is fit and may feature in Arsenal’s weekend friendly. Steve Kean finally signs a striker, though may see his skipper depart for North London. Alan Pardew is determined to freeze out Joey Barton and Joe Cole’s name blinks on the QPR radar. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga drags on this morning. The midfielder has now recovered from his hamstring injury and for the past two days has trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon. The Gunners are reportedly preparing two first-team photographs ahead of next season- one with their skipper and one without. Fabregas is even willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move goes through but the stumbling block remains a £5m difference in each club’s valuation of the player.

Carlos Tevez is the other big name in the news this morning. City have reportedly extended their skipper’s vacation, allowing him to miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash with United. Tevez’s future remains in the balance, then, and, despite his obvious appeal in Fantasy terms, the City striker will have been crossed off many a pre-season watchlist. He now seems unlikely to begin the season in the City starting line-up when Swansea turn up at Eastlands next weekend

Chris Samba’s Blackburn future is again in doubt as the latest reports suggest Spurs have moved to the front of the queue for his services. A £6 million fee is reportedly on the table as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his backline. Presumably the Spurs boss has Samba lined up to partner skipper Michael Dawson, with Ledley King’s knee still preventing him from making regular Premier League appearances. Should Samba arrive at White Hart Lane, it’s safe to say that Fantasy managers may look more favourably both on Samba and the Spurs back four.

Blackburn fans can at least take some consolation that their club made their first move in the transfer market yesterday, completing a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie . He is set to make his debut at Kilmarnock this weekend – a full Scout Report on the Scottish starlet will follow later today.

Norwich’s Ritchie De Laet has wasted little in settling into his new surroundings, following his loan move from Man United. The defender grabbed a goal and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Canaries 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. At just 4.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) he’s one to definitely consider, for those Fantasy managers undecided over low-price defenders.

While Joey Barton has hinted at seeing out the final year of his contract on Tyneside, Alan Pardew has other ideas. The Newcastle boss is reportedly determined to ensure the midfielder offers no further disruption to first-team matters by forcing him to train alone until his departure. Jose Enrique has closed his twitter account amid reports the club are on the verge of banning all players from using the social media site.

Liverpool’s forgotten man Joe Cole has been offered the chance of a season-long loan deal by QPR. Cole is clearly out of the picture at Anfield and, providing Neil Warnock’s side can afford his wages, would certainly get plenty chances at Loftus Road. With a 6.0 price tag, he’s a budget-friendly FPL option, though many Fantasy managers will steer clear until the situation becomes a little clearer.

Yes A, I don't think that Toure is worth that much, his price was obviously much better last year and even then he was never really a "must have"...wait and see how the remainder of the transfer window for Chelsea goes with Benayoun. If they don't get anyone in, I think he could be a great choice.

As I understand it, Given would rotate best with a GK from Stoke, then (tied) Norwich or West Brom. However, it all depends if you truly want to sit Given during away matches, which many on this site would probably advise against. So, if you're only looking to replace Given for a game here and there against the top 4-6 sides, then you've got more options than the ones I've mentioned above.

      Not convinced if I'm honest.

Three goals and three assists for each of the last two seasons isn't great. He actually plays in a fairly deep role and certainly wouldn't be part of the front three for Chelsea.

I can only see his arrival making things less clear in the Chelsea midfield.

    Just wondering about this:

Last year Lampard was the most expensive MF in the game. It is the same this year. He's price has not gone up like most other players so the money you save on not having Lampard doesn't stretch as far making another reason to choose Fat Frank.

I may just be trying to convince myself but he's not moving from my team.

Get Carroll then, no point taking a risk on a 10m player in the first week in my opinion. You wouldn't do it if you were using your wildcard, so no point doing it now.

I'd imagine that Downing will start, I dabbled with him, not sure if he is worth 8.5 though.

Is it a head to head league? If not, surely there is no maximum and the more players, the bigger the prize pot.

I dont want the league to be too big. 30 is enough.

If I was trying to con you surely i wouldn't have put a cap on the league.

I am very interested and I love a gamble but the risk is too high that you will just not pay out when I beat you.

    I haven't seen any RMTs yet so here's one;

    de Gea (Al-Habsi)
Kompany, Samba, Alcaraz (Jagielka, Jose Enrique)
    Taarabt, N'Zogbia, Silva, Malouda (Dyer)
    Rodallega, Van Persie, Holt

    What do you think?

Have you something against Given, I am surprised they have let you post on here without having Given 😉

Oh, you have redeemed yourself with Holt.

      If you want my opion...

      * Never have a Wigan def
      * Too early for RVP
      * Fwds a little to light weight.

    My team!!!!!

    Robinson Al-Habsi
    Kompany Hughes Gibbs Simpson Bardsley
    Malouda Tarrabt Sinclair Sessegnon O'Hara
    Van Persie Bent Rodallega

2 Questions that are really bothering me:

    1) Is there a goalie that rotates well with Robinson???
    2) I have 0.5 left - who should I upgrade???

What formation do you plan on playing most weeks? You should downgrade one of your midfielders to improve on another in my opinion. I think Gibbs is an interesting choice for a punt as he is quite good going forward... but surely you should be looking at Enrique if his move goes through?

I should have been more clear, for example downgrade Taraabt to a 5m midfielder so that Sinclair or Sessegnon could be upgraded, too many midfielders in the 6 - 6.5 range in that team

You don't have to spend every penny, otherwise changing later can be more difficult, even lead to hits. Having said that I hate the look of the keeper combo.

    team:

    hart ruddy

    kompany-lescott-A cole-Luiz-Ivanovich

    moses-dyer-taarabt-hoolahan-sess

    RVP-Bent-Holt

    0 in bank -

its 3+3 city/chelsea defence - fill in nailed starters, and a 4.0guy -here ruddy.
Both chelsea and manC will keep the clean sheet in half of their matches.

fill in the midfield with all the cheap goodguys

leaves 27-30 bucks to use on decent strikers.

    yeh?

defence should average around 20points per game, maybe more
    midfield 12
    forwards 14

putting in a captain there and adding some bonuspoints and you're scoring 50-60 points per game,
and thats where we want to be:)

    calc.exe tells me that 55points*38gws is 2090.
And with some clever transfermoves and double-gameweek planning
we'll get some 50-100 points further. reaching for 2200

    Q: heavy defence + cheap-o mids + normal attackers = ..... ?

That is the worst/riskiest midfield I have seen on this website. I think you could end up rueing your decision to invest so heavily on your defence. If City concede just 1 goal, your potential to do well decreases very dramatically and you have few good captaincy choices in my opinion.

Are people with Given and Ruddy thinking of it as a keeper rotation? I think I'd basically end up playing Given every game because I'll never fancy Norwich for a CS.

Bearing that in mind I'm thinking of going b) instead of a)

    a) Given + Ruddy + A.Cole
    b) Cech + Ruddy + Dunne/Collins + 0.5M

Because Cech outscores A.Cole every season anyway AND is set to benefit more from the new bonus system (i think).

    Thoughts on this plan?

    RMT plz.

    Ruddy Given
Hughes Kompany Simpson De Laet Huth
    VDV N'Zogbia Moses Silva Taarabt
    RVP Holt Bent

Plan on moving Bent out after a few fixtures to get whomever the dominant striker is at that price. Thinking Suarez or upgrading to Aguero. A little unsure about VDV but can't convince myself not to have him. Good options for captain.

    Thoughts?
