Carlos Tevez takes a break. Cesc Fabregas is fit and may feature in Arsenal’s weekend friendly. Steve Kean finally signs a striker, though may see his skipper depart for North London. Alan Pardew is determined to freeze out Joey Barton and Joe Cole’s name blinks on the QPR radar. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga drags on this morning. The midfielder has now recovered from his hamstring injury and for the past two days has trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon. The Gunners are reportedly preparing two first-team photographs ahead of next season- one with their skipper and one without. Fabregas is even willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move goes through but the stumbling block remains a £5m difference in each club’s valuation of the player.

Carlos Tevez is the other big name in the news this morning. City have reportedly extended their skipper’s vacation, allowing him to miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash with United. Tevez’s future remains in the balance, then, and, despite his obvious appeal in Fantasy terms, the City striker will have been crossed off many a pre-season watchlist. He now seems unlikely to begin the season in the City starting line-up when Swansea turn up at Eastlands next weekend

Chris Samba’s Blackburn future is again in doubt as the latest reports suggest Spurs have moved to the front of the queue for his services. A £6 million fee is reportedly on the table as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his backline. Presumably the Spurs boss has Samba lined up to partner skipper Michael Dawson, with Ledley King’s knee still preventing him from making regular Premier League appearances. Should Samba arrive at White Hart Lane, it’s safe to say that Fantasy managers may look more favourably both on Samba and the Spurs back four.

Blackburn fans can at least take some consolation that their club made their first move in the transfer market yesterday, completing a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie . He is set to make his debut at Kilmarnock this weekend – a full Scout Report on the Scottish starlet will follow later today.

Norwich’s Ritchie De Laet has wasted little in settling into his new surroundings, following his loan move from Man United. The defender grabbed a goal and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Canaries 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. At just 4.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) he’s one to definitely consider, for those Fantasy managers undecided over low-price defenders.

While Joey Barton has hinted at seeing out the final year of his contract on Tyneside, Alan Pardew has other ideas. The Newcastle boss is reportedly determined to ensure the midfielder offers no further disruption to first-team matters by forcing him to train alone until his departure. Jose Enrique has closed his twitter account amid reports the club are on the verge of banning all players from using the social media site.

Liverpool’s forgotten man Joe Cole has been offered the chance of a season-long loan deal by QPR. Cole is clearly out of the picture at Anfield and, providing Neil Warnock’s side can afford his wages, would certainly get plenty chances at Loftus Road. With a 6.0 price tag, he’s a budget-friendly FPL option, though many Fantasy managers will steer clear until the situation becomes a little clearer.

I have worked out a solid line up, but have no Chelsea coverage at all... I'm not all that fussed, but everyone's been harping on about how important it is to have Chelsea coverage because of the good fixtures at the start of the season?

Being unsure who's going to start and who's going to get rotated really has had me not bothering about them. The only midfielder who I feel is safe from the bench is Lamp's who's a gun player but for the price I'm sure I can find better combo's.

    Thoughts?

Hello everyone, great to see the new season is just around the corner. Ive tried picking a team without looking at the recommendations on here so it would be a bit different. Can I maybe get some cricism on it such as the obvious flaws/ poor decisions pointed out as im bound to be unaware of some injuries, non starters in pre-season and suspensions?

    Given, Kenny
    Kompany, Enrique,Gibbs,O'Shea,Salgado
    Wilshire,N'Zogbia,Silva,Etherington,Brunt
    Rooney,Torres,Doyle

I tried to get a big player from each of the top clubs along with the regular consistent scorer from previous seasons plus a couple of sure to be rotated bargains.

Probably the most balanced team I have seen.

I would go Wilshere to Sess or Taarabt, but looks great.

Great 15, unfortunately you can only play 11 players a week, so your wasting too much money on guys who 3/4 of the time will be on the bench. Invest in a strong 11 or 12 and have fillers who if called upon are hopefully regular starters for their own 11. Just my opinion.

What is the verdict on Gamst Pedersen?

Should I use him, Sessegnon or Benayoun, and why?

Benayoun, because the other two are ridiculous, Sessegnon hype is unproven, Pedersen scored two good free kicks last season, thats all. Yossi would be a great pick if Modric isnt signed, if he is then get him.

Hey CFC Tom, I'm thinking of Ivanovic over Cashley, simply based on his points per minutes being better. Are you of the opinion he will start most games when fit this season? I thought Ivanovic looked outstanding in the pre season games I watched.

Sorry, thought I had replied but it didnt work, yes is my answer, Ivanovic is one of our best defenders and our most versatile one, he'll rarely be out of the team when fit and I think AVB's been impressed with him in pre season, at 7 he's probably the best Chelsea defender to get.

Thank you kind sir, agree with your thoughts. I'm going with Cech Ivan and Yossi in my starting 11. Risky, doubling up on Chelsea defence but not really in my opinion.

I've got Cech, Ivanovic and Benayoun(provding we dont sign Modric or Kaka obviously) too, good choices. I think that under AVB's system we'll be a very solid defensive outfit, good offensively too but I have a feeling the goals will be spread out a bit. Cech's a must really, a shoe-in for the golden gloves imo. Can't wait for the Stoke game, I'll be in the Britannia and loving it!

Well glad to hear your opinion is similar to my own on the Chelsea players in FPL, can't say I'm a big fan outside of that game. Although as a Pool fan, still love little Yossi! Enjoy the game buddy, and lets hope our mutual Chelsea gambles pay off!

Looking for players who have been placed around 30,000-100,00 to join my little league 65548-24548. I was 66,000 or so last year due to my addiction to transfers. Hopefully I can raise my game for this year 🙂
