Carlos Tevez takes a break. Cesc Fabregas is fit and may feature in Arsenal’s weekend friendly. Steve Kean finally signs a striker, though may see his skipper depart for North London. Alan Pardew is determined to freeze out Joey Barton and Joe Cole’s name blinks on the QPR radar. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga drags on this morning. The midfielder has now recovered from his hamstring injury and for the past two days has trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon. The Gunners are reportedly preparing two first-team photographs ahead of next season- one with their skipper and one without. Fabregas is even willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move goes through but the stumbling block remains a £5m difference in each club’s valuation of the player.

Carlos Tevez is the other big name in the news this morning. City have reportedly extended their skipper’s vacation, allowing him to miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash with United. Tevez’s future remains in the balance, then, and, despite his obvious appeal in Fantasy terms, the City striker will have been crossed off many a pre-season watchlist. He now seems unlikely to begin the season in the City starting line-up when Swansea turn up at Eastlands next weekend

Chris Samba’s Blackburn future is again in doubt as the latest reports suggest Spurs have moved to the front of the queue for his services. A £6 million fee is reportedly on the table as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his backline. Presumably the Spurs boss has Samba lined up to partner skipper Michael Dawson, with Ledley King’s knee still preventing him from making regular Premier League appearances. Should Samba arrive at White Hart Lane, it’s safe to say that Fantasy managers may look more favourably both on Samba and the Spurs back four.

Blackburn fans can at least take some consolation that their club made their first move in the transfer market yesterday, completing a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie . He is set to make his debut at Kilmarnock this weekend – a full Scout Report on the Scottish starlet will follow later today.

Norwich’s Ritchie De Laet has wasted little in settling into his new surroundings, following his loan move from Man United. The defender grabbed a goal and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Canaries 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. At just 4.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) he’s one to definitely consider, for those Fantasy managers undecided over low-price defenders.

While Joey Barton has hinted at seeing out the final year of his contract on Tyneside, Alan Pardew has other ideas. The Newcastle boss is reportedly determined to ensure the midfielder offers no further disruption to first-team matters by forcing him to train alone until his departure. Jose Enrique has closed his twitter account amid reports the club are on the verge of banning all players from using the social media site.

Liverpool’s forgotten man Joe Cole has been offered the chance of a season-long loan deal by QPR. Cole is clearly out of the picture at Anfield and, providing Neil Warnock’s side can afford his wages, would certainly get plenty chances at Loftus Road. With a 6.0 price tag, he’s a budget-friendly FPL option, though many Fantasy managers will steer clear until the situation becomes a little clearer.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

From the QPR report back on June 5th:

Hogan Ephraim (19 starts, 9 sub apps, 3 goals, 1 assist) The former West Ham winger lost his place to loanee Wayne Routledge, suggesting that he will likely be a squad player next season. Routledge’s refusal of a three-year deal at Rangers could yet hand Ephraim opportunities if Warnock fails to recruit in this area.

So a possibiity, I'm interested in this too.

Yes. Taarabt's situation at QPR leaves to many questions, sure he could play for a transfer since he hasn't proved anything in the EPL yet but I think Sinclair is the better and more safe option now.

I think you can take two for slots 4 and 5 in your midfield.

However only take one if you're planning a swoop for Holt/Graham up front.

And if you take 2 of them, please don't go and get crap like Ferguson as your 5th mid. If you do try this, please just go home and decompose quietly.

How do you feel about picking players from the team you support?

I'm an mcfc season ticket holder and we clearly have some great ff prospects this year. Problem is, I find if I have ff players on the pitch I am mostly cheering them on, can be sore about a game (even if we win) if I made the wrong decisions.

Also, I'm rose tinted all the way with city... Balotelli from GW1, AJ looks great at 7.5. Thinking it best I boycott City players just to remove the hassle/ worry.

    Anyone else suffer like this?

United supporter here and due to the squad that's deeper than Amy Child's private cavern and Fergie's penchant for rotation, he basically renders most of the team unpickable from an FPL perspective anyway.

      Hi Jamins

You'll have better luck getting responses if you give your team in the format:

      GK GK
      DEF DEF DEF DEF DEF
      MID MID etc...

FWIW I think you have several questionable selections in there.

I think the consensus here would be that 3 deluxe defenders is too much for the FPL game. I'd agree. Esp as Huth/Hangy are prob .5 overpriced based on last years scores imo.

Otherwise, striker force looks excellent to me provided you don't mind reading the phrase "Tevez saga" over and over as you search for news/rumor.

My guess is Yaya won't get forward as much due to the crowded, currently un-injured frontline. Dempsey's value decreases based on Duff's ability to get on goal (better this preseason).

It's an interesting strategy. I haven't looked at it myself as I feel either/or will be enough.

However I reckon it will do a lot of damage elsewhere to your team's budget and it may stop you from bagging a City attacker.

Are City's fixtures really all that after GW1? Still undecided. Need to see them in the Charity Shield to get a feel for who I want.

Well the whole plan hinges around Enrique making it to Merseyside for the kick-off but yes I'd have Silva as well. Not convinced about a striker. Got Bent for Villa coverage and may wildcard GW3 when the internationals kick-off if it's going badly.

Even if United do pick up 9 points I imagine it will be 0-2, 2-1, 1-0 or there about. Going to be closeish games so less points to be distributed through the team.

      I think thats overkill imo

One main flaw in having both and being "light up top" is that when you want to upgrade your strike force it will require at least 2 transfers opposed to 1 transfer if you start with a big gun.

Tactically i think it is fair better to have a high value player in each position (excl GK) to enable the freedom to transfer anyone in as form starts to materialize.

I dont think you understand.. the 200 or so possible points for Lampard has to be outweighed with his 12.0 value.. if you can only afford a 5.5 or 6.0 midfielder as a result who is only getting less than 100 odd points you will lose out to two players just for example say it was VDV and Yaya Toure who both score 150 points = 300

Result is Lampard is only good when you have amazing cheapos playing alongside him

but its not a straightforward equation as you have to factor the captaincy choice into it

i wont have lamps all season as 12m is too much when he has tough fixtures and isnt a captain choice same as i wont have rvp first 3 gwks, but the weeks when you will consider him as captain hes worth it imo

VDV is a great buy if he remains fit

Yaya was great value last season at 4.5 I think but 8 mil is possibly overpriced. Especially if he plays a more defensive role.

You need at least 1 x 12 mil player for captain choices inmho

Theres 2 factors that need considering. 1 captaincy options. An expensive player usually provides this and is definitely a requirement.

The other thing is that you need the highest scoring players really (or at least for the stretches of games where they will score heavily) - regardless of price, as this is where the most points lie. Points per million is great, but bottom line is you need the players that bring in the big points.

three risky midfielders there in the form of Sess, Moses and Taarabt. I'd look to go for one or two of those and back up with a more established midfielder to complete the trio.

Personally not going near Arsenal defence - they ship to many cheap goals and that hasn't stopped in pre-season (not to mention unfavourable early fixtures). Richards not guaranteed a start at City. The rest look good to me!

Too much uncertainity surrounding Enrique at the moment, makes him a gamble. I'd go A Hughes and R Johnson to spread the risk away from doubling up on fulham.

And then go for Silva - you can always downgrade to Nzog later once we see what his fitness level is like

Enrique if he goes to Pool. IF not Hughes and Johnson. Avoid Briggs at least at the start.

Why can you only get one of N'Zog and Silva?

One is 7.5m and the other is 9.5m. They shouldn't be counted in the same bracket imo but a lot of people seem to be posting one or the others.
