Robin Van Persie is at the centre of another injury scare on the eve of the season after suffering an ankle knock against Benfica on Saturday.

The Dutchman was forced off the field in the first-half of the 2-1 defeat having given the Gunners the lead with a clinical finish from Kieran Gibbs’ cut-back.

Following the goal, Van Persie suffered a knock on the ankle following a clumsy challenge – the striker played on but was withdrawn at half-time with Marouane Chamakh seeing action.

The extent of Van Persie’s problem remains unclear, Wenger gave us this vague summary in his post-match comments…

“It is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is.â€

We will presumably learn more on the “problem†over the next few days and Fantasy managers will be hoping for some clarity from the Arsenal camp prior to Saturday’s squad selection deadline.

Arsenal also suffered further setbacks on the day with both Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen suffering thigh and back injuries respectively.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

so lots of uncertainties at the start of teh season especially with the big hitters makes ma take a very careful approach:

    given (ruddy)
baines orr kompany skrtel (s taylor)
    formica moses silva taarabt (tchoyi)
    caroll bent (ba)

    4.0 in the bank
very cheap team but leaves me a big room to maneuvre over the next couple fo weeks once since starting to settle.

This is my first season so can someone please explain to me how transfers work?

From what I've read, you can only make 1 free transfer every week. If you choose not to make a transfer one week, it will be carried over onto the next week, thus you would have 2 free transfers.

If you don't make a transfer once again, then the following week, you would still only have 2, as you would lose your saved one from the first game week.

All in all, the maximum possible number of free transfers you can make in a single week is 2?

Hey camzey, think I ask yesterday. Didn't get an opinion from u.

    1\Duff, sessegnon, aguero

    2\Silva, nzogs, Zamora

Think 1 gives me another captain and he will be on pens and dir FK. I'm sure they will do there best to ship tevez in the next month.

I don't like making abstract decisions like that. Need the whole team to decide on something like that. That said, on face value, 2 has much more balance to it.

Goalies don't rotate well and are weak. If you're going super budget, go for Kenny + Moreira, for safer, play the one goalie strategy and go with Given.

Defense is the right idea, but it's not particularly strong even with rotation on second look. You'll be playing Hughes every week and he won't be good enough.

Up top, heavy on the 6.5s which isn't good seeing as you have less wiggle room in terms of transfer options.

Strikeforce is good though, and you have 4 captains.

I'd downgrade one of the 6.5s to fund a stronger keeper combo. It's different, which I like, but you need to invest wisely up front to maximize the extra funds you gain from having a cheap defense. You can make some more astute choices than Duff.

Good morning 😀 Up nice and early on a sunday 🙂 Well I say up, but y'know, time for bed and will be up in time for the West Ham Vs Cardiff game.

All of Arsenal's players looking injured, makes Ramsey more of a viable punt seeing as he is like the only attacking player, that will guaranteed to be starting and is cheap, either that or Gervinho maybe??

      Awesome name my friend!

Rafael and Senderis rotation risks, as is Young I understand. Moses and Sinclair unknowns, but the forner's fixtures make him tempting I admit.

First few weeks? I think we're all waiting to see if Suarez is rested for GW1/2... with that in mind, my personal feeling would be to play the fixtures: Bent.

        Cheers. Likewise on the name.

My thinking is that if Sinclair gets half of the goals he got last year then he should be reasonable value and pick up bonuses.

Moses is mainly in due to the easy fixtures Wigan have got and the hunch that he'll be their main attacking midfielder this year now.

I'm slightly uncomfortable with Rafael, but not sure anyone else in their squad is a natural right back - lots of centre backs these days though.

        how's your team shaping up?

Lets discuss the merits of having Didier Drogba in our teams.

    Positive

1 Hes a proven top FF player who always scores well when he plays
2 Chelsea fixtures are very strong, esp gw2---
3 There are doubt surrounding most of chelseas attacking players bar lamps, and hes too expensive imo
4 Hes an excellent captain candidate gw2 and gw3 and will surely score big if he plays
5 He offers good value for a proven top player at just 10.5

    Negative

1 Torres! He has lost it, it would seem. Shocking form, appears to have lost all his pace and confidence but he cost 50 mill and does that equate to him playing no matter what??? Cannot see both of them in the same team so something has to give.

So what do you guys think? Will drogba get the nod or will torres be given an endless amount of time to prove hes not sh*t????

Do you fancy a punt on him ahead of malouda? Drogba will outscore malouda when they both play but is malouda more nailed on??? I would have doubts captaining malouda but id captain drogba against favorable opposition any day of the week.

          You are indeed 🙂

I like the team. It's strong everywhere. Drogba is a risk, but one I think you may be justified in making if you have alternatives lined up. Bent could be a good backup.

Watch Rodallega. I'm not a huge fan. He has good fixtures yes, but he plays for Wigan, and his stats aren't great. It's all mainly tweaking though, and there's nothing majorly wrong. Your team balance is great, and it's just a matter of picking the right players now to fill each slot.

Yeah I agree Drogba is a risk, but I fancy him to start for Chelsea given AVB's recent comments. If he falls out of favour, Bent is my go to move. I always seem to go for Rodallega, i think because he's a massive goal hog (2nd most shots in premier league last year). Opening fixtures are the appeal this time though, with a swap to Wingie from GW4 onwards. Alternative could be Holt as my cheapie i guess, but he is totally unproven in the top flight.

Would like N'Zog in from GW2 onwards, perhaps for Taarabt. Better to start with N'Zog and downgrade either

            a) Enrique to say S Taylor and Cashley to Ivanovic, or
            b) Enrique to N Taylor
            c) Start with Taarabt and downgrade Silva in GW2 (also frees up funds for the return of RVP)

            ...and breathe...

              That's a lot of planning.

Before you start thinking of possible permutations, consider simply - Taarabt VS N'Zogbia. Weigh the pros and cons.

It's all too easy to get caught up in multiple combinations.

I think it's fairly close, but I'd rather N'Zog. Proven premiership quality with as good if not better opening fixtures. Imagine N'Zog will be on set pieces also (minus pens). Might try and look how I can squeeze him in from the start...

What are your thoughts on Ivanovic? A guaranteed starter? I think he's the biggest goal threat in the Chelsea back line so I am tempted to start with him over Cole...

I don't like Ivanovic because of Bosingwa.

The threat isn't Ivanovic's likelihood of starting, but because Bosingwa could be subbed on in his place.

I can see Chelsea taking off Ivanovic to get more attacking width from Bosingwa, and to me, that risk is more than I'm willing to take. I'll probably be downgrading to Luiz or Alex once I know more about Chelsea's starting defense. Could be a while before we find out though, so in the mean time, why not cough up the 0.5 and play it safe?

Yeah, that's a fair point. He has the potential to be the new 59 min Kolarov...

Perhaps sticking with Cashley is the safe play. Are you tempted to pay the extra 0.5m for Baines? He saved my bacon on numerous occasions last year!

No. I think a Chelsea defender will be better than Baines.

Hey jinswick. I don't want to get all worked up about the new BP system, but I'm sure I read that, like yellows/reds, shots OFF target have a detrimental impact on earning them. I know that is risk/reward analysis, but for that reason alone I'm not convinced Rods is that viable, and I'm steering clear as a result. Preparing for it to backfire on me, but forewarned is forearmed!

Or were his shots on target? If so, I'll pipe down... (gets coat ready).

Rodalegga is very accurate. Providing row Z is the target

he was joint 2nd highest in shots on target (with Tevez), so not all that inaccurate...
