Jose Enrique is set for a move to Liverpool this morning. The Cesc Fabregas saga is almost over and Samir Nasri is also on the verge of an Emirates exit. Frank Lampard recovers from a throat infection ahead of the season opener at Stoke while Fernando Torres’ concussion places question marks against his availability. Steve Bruce eyes up the Spurs squad and Alex McLeish hints at a role for Emile Heskey. Here’s the Scribbles for today, folks:

It seems Cesc Fabregas’s move to Barcelona is near completion. The La Liga champions’ two-year chase for the playmaker’s services could be tied up as early as this weekend, with Fabregas’ willingness to redirect a portion of his earnings Arsenal’s way reportedly proving key to the £40m transfer. Aaron Ramsey has looked more than capable as a replacement over the close season and – at 6.5 in FPL (Fantasy Premier League) – Fantasy managers will have their fingers crossed that Arsene Wenger allows the young Welshman the chance to nail down the role as his own.

With Samir Nasri’s move to Man City also on the cards, the Gunners boss will have plenty money to spend before the end of August and reports this morning suggest Wenger has made a move for Birmingham’s Scott Dann as he looks to address a weakness as centre-half.

Jose Enrique looks set for a move to Liverpool. With the left-back having just a year left on his contract, reports indicate the clubs have this morning agreed a fee for his services and a deal could be completed as early as today.

Frank Lampard looks likely to play this weekend, having recovered from a throat infection. The illness had caused him to withdraw from the England squad against Holland earlier in the week but a return to training yesterday suggests he’s well on the road to recovery ahead of Sunday’s trip to the Britannia.

Chelsea will be fretting over the availability of Fernando Torres after the striker was taken to hospital with concussion last night. The forward was withdrawn after just 15 minutes in Spain’s 2-1 defeat to Italy and the club should find out today whether he’ll be available for the weekend. If Torres is sidelined, it promotes Didier Drogba into our Fantasy thinking, with the big Ivorian leading the line for Andre Villas-Boas’ team at Stoke.

Despite an impressive pre-season, it appears Yossi Benayoun is still surplus to requirement at Stamford Bridge. Reports today suggest the Israeli could be used as a makeweight in Chelsea’s bid for Luka Modric, though Newcastle are also believed to be waiting in the wings as Alan Pardew continues to restructure his first-team squad.

Steve Bruce seems to have been bitten by the transfer bug. Ten players have already made their way to Sunderland this close season but the Black Cats boss has confirmed he’s eyeing up a loan swoop for Tottenham’s Niko Krancjar.

Lucas has declared himself fit and ready to start for Liverpool this weekend. Despite his participation in last month’s Copa America, the Brazilian is desperate to play against Sunderland, saying:

I’m fit. I didn’t have a full holiday and was training with the national team, so it won’t be a problem for me to be available for Saturday. I am really excited to be back and really looking forward to the new season. We’re in a good mood at the moment and hopefully we’ll start well on Saturday.

Alex McLeish has confirmed Emile Heskey has a role to play for Aston Villa this season. The forward is in the final year of his contract but Big Eck reckons his experience could be valuable over the upcoming months for the Midlands club.

“Discarding his kind of knowledge and his skills would be crazy. I have to tap into a guy like that. I have to use him to the full. There is no guarantee that Emile will play every week – but he has certainly impressed me.”

Word of advice, its not easy playing different formats of the game at the same time. You will end up with completely different teams due to the player costs etc. Just a headache. Your better off concentrating on the one game.

Spurs game has caused me all sorts of problems…

So need some help on this one. As it stands:

    Given (Ruddy)

    Kompany, Gibbs, Enrique (Assou-Ek, Givet)

    Moses, Taraabt, Nani, Silva (Bale)

    Suarez, Bent, Holt

And I've got 1m in the bank.... Should I bring in Drogba for Suarez or is there someone else who needs upgrading more?

    HELP!!!

Gibbs, Assou - rubbish fixtures and both teams don't really keep clean sheets (Villa is a better option)

I see a lack of chelsea coverage - after GW1 at least 1 Chlesea player is a must!

Suarez > Carroll as Suarez is a doubt!

Here's something interesting, Olympiakos may be expelled from the Europa League, with several British sides possibilities to be asked to compete in the Europa League. In some ways I hope, if this comes true, Liverpool are asked. But in other ways, I'm glad we can concentrate on domestic games.

Frontline doesn't look too bad but imo the defense looks a bit weak, I tend to look to home teams with more favour when making my selection so I think you might be a bit short on that department. Just my thoughts. Ohara sounds fantastic over Ramsey, And I'd stick with Carroll no matter what

Rotating 1 place in defence between 3 cheap options does not make a defence weak. Altho if i do downgrade ramsey to ohara (personal Favourite) berra cud be upgraded to enrique..

What if Suarez doesn't play, and Fulham (as expected) become hard to crack at home? Too much Villa cover for a difficult away game I think, I'd deploy them from GW2. Midfield looks good enough, defence 50/50...I'm trying to like it but there's something that's bugging....lol. Wolves will NOT beat Blackburn unless a miracle happens, and United will score. I can only see you getting one clean sheet. You might need to change that. Cheers

silva in my opinion is City's Best player, he pulls the strings, depending on how he plays on Gw1 I will decide on keeping him or changing him for Malouda.
will tevez play? aguero will be the starting ST after baggin a few goals!!

i mean he got all the points last season, think it will be aguero this season but ill put him in my team after he gels, then i can make room in my midfield for the chelsea mid that stands out.

looking pretty good! Iv gone for the Stoke Blackburn sub defence rotation with givet and wilkinson myself as they have matching fixtures. Also risking Ramsey where you have O'hara mainly as with Cesc and Nasri off he will be rolling up to first team duties. Iv gone for nani drog to your rooney malouda, so quite similar, all in all im thinking a kick ass team

    Given - (Kenny)

    Givet - Kompany(V) - Bosingwa - (wilkinson) - (Jose Enrique)

    Nani - Yaya - Nzog - Moses(C) - (Ramsey)

    Carroll - Drogba - Zamora

RMT, 1.0m in the bank for Luiz in GW2, out goes Bosingwa.

Terrible captain choices IMO, I'd have Carroll captain and Drogba or Yaya Vice.

Bosingwa probably wont play, Wilkinson is a doubt and has poor fixtures, Enrique may not start straght away at LPool, and I would hold off on Ramsey until you find out what's going on with Fab/Nasri.

        Disagree totally TomRovers.

Moses could be a shrewd captain choice this weekend and for the 2weeks following aswell. Better than going for the clear favorites all the time, and by captaining Moses you could pull away at the start from your peers.

Kompany is nailed onto get 6pts where as Yaya in DM postion will only get you 3.

Thats what my thinking was with the captains, i will stick with them worth the risk.

GW1 chelsea will play bosingwa - alex - terry - cole, after that luiz is pretty sure to start. Other option could be alex for GW1 but ill debate that, either is equally good. Wilkinson is only a doubt for GW1 after that he rotates well with Givet. Cesc is not going to play at newcastle no matter what, neither will nasri. Ramsey is nailed on. Enrique is a place holder before his price rockets.

    De Gea - (Ruddy)

    Moses - Silva - Nani - Ramsey - Taarbt

    Rooney - Suarez - (Morrison)

      Nicely balanced.

Ramsey may not play, I'd wait to see if Fab/Nasri go, and Bosingwa will be a bargain if he get's starts but rather expensive bench fodder if he doesn't.

Personally I'm only going for definite starters in GWK1, but they could be worth the risk I guess.

De Gea bit of a gamble but think united's defence will be strongest this season so plenty of protection. May think about changing him for schwarzer and then will free up 1.5m

De gea is madness, begovic and given are the best roating gks going on last seasons form. Or given and robinson, or robinson and Begovic. Projections on one webite suggest 7 CS's in the first 10 GW's, sounds a bit ambitous but im going to gamble on the stats.

Upson has come in at 4.5 for Stoke.

Wonder if he will start? Could be a useful cheap defender if he manages to nail down a spot and regain pre-World Cup 2010 form.

Bent has great fixtures for the first few weeks and to be fair its hard to know who will start for Chelsea up front. Torres is a doubt while Drogba is near certain to start but Stoke away will not be easy.

Perhaps 1 too many Aston Villa players, Fulham will be all out under Jol, and if Zamora is on it they will score. 5/6th fewest conceded goals last season as well. Chelsea always fly out of the blocks and stoke take some time to gather momentum. Also wanting to impress the new attacking manager, 4-1 chelsea im thinking. Drogba or anelka excellent choices. Also i think having rooney and nani is a risk, one chelsea and one manu player is more balanced, even if you are manu for life 😛

True enough, I am abit sceptical of N'Zogbia. I had Drogba in my previous team but I opted for Rooney. Which I have now changed back. Personally I think Benayoun will be starting this game but not worth the gamble either. Haha well picked on there. 🙂
? for you whats the latest on Coleman do you know.

        How about this team:

        Given

        Enrique (likely 2start) Brown Kompany

        Silva Walcott Nani Moses Downing

        Drogba Bent

        Same bench as before.

Good Team but could be tweaked in places. Enrique will probably not play this weekend. So maybe think of gettin in a city defender some where.

I'd maybe Downgrade Ba and get in Silva for Yaya.
