From MI6 to the CIA, never has there been such rigid protection of confidential information than that surrounding Mark’s initial Fantasy squad. So, when super-secret agent himself joined me in the studio for our first podcast of the season, I was resigned to getting thrown the odd teasing titbit but little else.

However, it was to my very great surprise that he’d gone and left the proverbial back door open, there, “live” on air, he handed me a laptop giving me open access to his team on screen right in front of me. Since I was already in the house, he reluctantly decided to show me around.

An unexpected twist to our first podcast of the season and, dare I say it, a rare privilege for the listener.

Listen in and feel free to disagree.

Which 2 out of these 3? Malouda, Nani and Silva.

Thinking of starting with Nani and Silva and then ship Silva out for Malouda after GW 1. Thoughts?

Now that Torres is out, who is the better Chelsea coverage?

    Malouda or Drogba

Stats wise, it looks like Drogba as he has scored pretty well on the last few GW1s but Malouda had a great start last year as well, just cant decide.

Ya, thats an option I never considered.

I currently have Carroll/Rooney/Holt with .5 in the bank (already have Malouda in my mid), so I could either upgrade Carroll to Drogs or downgrade Rooney.

I cant imagine them rushing Torres back, not for what they invested in. Concusions are nothing to laugh about, if its as bad as it seems, IMO I dont see him coming back any earlier than September.

---I have to finish my team today since I'll be travelling & won't have internet from tomorrow.. just need to make a decision on the final places of my team which is:

Schwarzer, Ruddy / Or Vorm if he's 4m
    Cole, Lescott, Dunne, Caulker, Simpson
    N'Zogbia, Taarabt, O'Hara
    Drogba

Now have to to pick one of the below.
    1. Malouda, Ramsey, Carroll, Holt
    2. Malouda, Moses, RVP, Holt
    3. Moses, Ramsey, RVP, Suarez

I'm really stuck, suggestions much appreciated

RVP is a MUST have at this stage, until he breaks again, so that eliminates #1 imo

I don't envy your next two choices because of Moses and O'hara.

Surely Ramsey > Moses and then you can upgrade someone to Carrol or Suarez

Sorry to break the consensus, but if Arsenal push Ramsey into the attacking mid position as is quite possible, at 6.5 he is great value, I have him at the min, and at that value if you REALLY dont like his game you could bench him! RVP has a very bad record with injuries, so whilst he is streets ahead when fit, I am very wary until he is confirmed fit

Due to Pens? 1.5 million more, not certain to start.

Good point on last year on Downing but Kuyt earlier doors I can see even pushed on up top to feed up Carrol meaning Henderson gets some starts to the right.

I see Kuyt Nailed on and on pens. And the extra 2 points if gets CS and goal over the forwards makes him very tempting. Plus he has the pens.

Dont see many goals for Downing and its all new to him too in a new team.

Ok have settled on this team now. Was unsure to gamble on Saurez but now the Spuds game is off I've swapped Bale for N'Zog and Carroll in for Saurez....

    Al Habsi / Ruddy

    Kompany/Lescott/Huth Simpson/Gabbidon

    N'Zogbia/YaYa/Taarabt/Moses Ferguson

    RVP/Rooney(C)/Carroll

My original plan of RVP/Pea/Saurez up top is up the swanny. Taking a punt on RVP's injury being a Wenger blind to get him out of the friendly. Happy with that choice, all certain starters in good form, with the option of Drogba for GW2 if RVP is indeed injured...or bringing the Pea in later on when fit to free up funds.

Oh and unbelievably Al Habsi was last years top scoring £5m player so I'm taking the cheap option in goal, especially as my Citeh defenders are cheaper than Hart and look good value to me...

I can't imagine any midfield position at the Pool being a guaranteed thing. No matter what, I'd say that your most reliable attacking option at the moment is Carroll, atleast until a few GWs pass and you can get a better view of whats happening in the middle.

Quick question, lads. Assuming Torres is ruled out of GW1, which looks better:

    1) Carroll GW1, then swap for Drogba or Torres for their lovely GW2 and 3 fixtures
    2) Drogba GW1

Rest of team is fairly generic, no other ‘Pool, Malouda in MF and one Chelsea def.

Carroll against Sunderland is too good to resist for me. I'll wait and see with the Chelsea forwards.

That was the original plan, the Torres injury just makes Drogs a lot more appealing. Started last season with no Drogs or Maoluda, pretty much killed me, don't want to make the same mistake again!

People can only have 2 from Carroll, Rooney, Drogba and Rvp without crippling their team.

Pick 2 and don't worry about the others i'd say. Any/all of them could do well gw1.

Rooney and Carroll / Drogs for me. Think I'll stick with Carroll. Feels weird starting off with 1.5m in the bank, though (more if I decide to go with Bosingwa for my Chelsea def.)

yes, but its hard to make drogba or torres captin , they too much of rotation risk , might only play 60 minutes

    Option A
    Al Habsi
    Cole, Gabbidon, Kompany (Huth, Simpson)
    N’Zogbia, Nani, Taarabt, Dempsey
    Rodallega, Drogba, Carol

    Option B
    Clichy, Gabbidon, Kompany (Huth, Simpson)
    Rodallega, Rooney, Carol

Scrap completely and start again or just a cpl of tweaks needed?

    Cheers

Everton players should now be more popular not less.

Can bench them for gameweek one , so they effectively then have a game in hand . So not only will you get extra game from them , will also be on the right side of price rises before their double gameweek

id love to keep baines in, but an 8mil defender on the bench to start the season?

if theres anyone i may bring in now who wont play its Enrique. actually, he might drop in price if he doesnt play, that would be sweet, a nailed on pool defender for UNDER 5 mil? Bargain

Or, I'll get a player who's going to play (only wanted Baines anyway), and get them in during the double gameweek

I think it depends who you got in midfield , best combos are
nani and drogba OR rooney and malouda , and that one i gone for as less rotation risk

damn you hooligans, ruining my fantasy team. Baines was a certainty. Now it will be several weeks before I can get him in.
Chelsea defence was ignored to accomidate baines, now im going Cole. But no point in getting baines till GW5 now. Damn it. Well better leighton never.

    Al-Habsi (Vorm or Ruddy)

    Cole, Lescott, Gabbidon (Simpson, Tate)

Malouda, Nani, Silva, Moses (N Dyer)

Don't really understand that - the only game you're losing for Baines is Spurs away, you can't have expected too much from that.

      Lescott, Silva, Tate, Dyer.
That Monday night game could still get called off if there's any trouble over the weekend. More likely as it's an evening kickoff.

      Just something to think about.

Silva or Gervinho as (C) for GW 1 ?
