From MI6 to the CIA, never has there been such rigid protection of confidential information than that surrounding Mark’s initial Fantasy squad. So, when super-secret agent himself joined me in the studio for our first podcast of the season, I was resigned to getting thrown the odd teasing titbit but little else.

However, it was to my very great surprise that he’d gone and left the proverbial back door open, there, “live” on air, he handed me a laptop giving me open access to his team on screen right in front of me. Since I was already in the house, he reluctantly decided to show me around.

An unexpected twist to our first podcast of the season and, dare I say it, a rare privilege for the listener.

    So there's been all this talk about Ramsey as of late with Cesc and Nasri pretty much out the door but who's to say that Rosicky won't be the greatest benefactor out of the situation?

      The good news is we have three or four weeks for things at Arsenal to settle before fixtures start improving. Hopefully we'll be in a better position to say then.

      I can only see one factor putting Rosicky ahead of Ramsey in the queue: Heroin.

      Given the three fixtures, two big CL qualifiers and potential new signings I'm going to steer clear of, and assess, Arsenal after the transfer window closes and the next International Break ensues.

          Could very well be, and I'm a big fan of Ramsey (I also have a "Welshie" banging on about him to me 'all the time') but I've got players ahead of him in the queue that I'm willing to wait and see on this one.

          ramsey is def. a good punt at 6.5, but their opening fixtures are horrid. watch-list and then i might downgrade someone like silva for him if he's doing that well and free up some major cash.

    Hi Guys, thoughts on my latest appreciated:

    1.5m left in bank

    Senderos is a risk I know, but he's widely tipped to line up with Haangeland in cenrtal defence and is a snip at 4.5. Rafael too is also a risk, but I'm gambling on hom being first choice. Also Dzeko a risk, but I reckon he is likely to figure in the first few game weeks.

        Thanks Hybrid. Tempted to swap Rafel out for Enrique now he's made hs switch. Why not Nani out of interest? At 10m he gives me options to swap out for the likes of VDV when he is back (or Kuyt etc). Am tempted too to swap Taarabt for Walters and Dzeko for Walters

      Mark has power, he should've used it to 'big up' Phil Neville and Dean Whitehead as ones to watch this year. It would be fantastic to see if many people just blindly buy into whatever is said.

              When Nasri signs I think he'll be pushed back along side De Jong. I may be wrong on that, but can't see how else all the attacking options will fit in.

      Prior to the release of the Scout article on FPL I had Ramsey/Moses/Carroll/Malouda et al and was feeling quite confident about it, all my friends ( who generally read the Scout on the FPL site ) will have in and the same midfield and strike force, oh well, level playing field this season then!

      Don't know much about this fella, but for 6m Jon Walters at Stoke gets my vote. Seems to be slipping underneath a lot of peoples radars, but he plays a forward role for his club alongside Kewnyne Jones and has scored a few in pre-season.

      I asked the same question earlier and I came to the conclusion that Taarabt seems to be the best way to go. Both have good fixtures but Taarabt hogs all the set pieces.

      they won't batter them or anything i don't think, i say they squeeze out a one goal victory. never easy to play at the hawthorns and their defence will be much more tightly organized under woy.

      I think/hope WBA will be a tougher team this year and we weren't a walkover last year. I'd predict a MU victory but can see it being 2-3

      Ba is a decent shout but have a look at Cabaye also. He's likely to take penalties and most set-pieces for Newcastle.

      i was looking at ba, but will be playing a 3-5-2 and he won't find a spot in the starting 11 w/what i've got. i opted for cheaper goodwillie since on the bench anyway.

    Does anyone see the value of putting Enrique in your squad at this stage. Won't play in GW1 and a tough fixture in GW2 if he does start by then. My feeling is he is much more likely to drop to 4.9 when people see he's not playing week 1 than rise to 5.1 so i reckon i should be able to pick him up weeks 3-4 for at least the same price and it gives me an opportunity to see how he will fit in as well.

      Yeah thats a good idea but I suppose it wastes a precious transfer early on. I dont think there's any rush on Enrique, Liverpool's first 8 fixtures aren't great.

    I'm not sure where this idea that the Hawthorns has all of a sudden become a fortress, this is Man Utd. were talking about, league champions and champions league runners up with several hot new signings.

    WBA were bottom of the Premier league clean sheets table by some margin last season with only 2 clean sheets the next team up having 5.

    If Utd. don't score 3 I will be amazed.

      I'm just getting reminded of United up against Burnley a couple of seasons ago in one of their first games. They played pretty badly and got beaten 1-0.

        If I remember rightly utd had scores of chances but some how the ball wouldn't go in, Carrick missed a penalty and Burnley scored their only real chance of the game.

    The Baines/ Cole dilemma.

    With the Spurs - Everton game being called off this weekend and a big investment of £8m on Baines, should I bring Cole in? Guaranteed starter, nice GW2 & GW3 plus 0.5m less. He's due a big year in the lead up to the Euro's I think.

    Baines was the first man on my team sheet and I'm loathed to take him out, as I reckon (as mentioned on today's podcast) that you're essentially buying a midfielder and if they can tighten up he'll score big.

    Any thoughts?

          I've got both and my plan at the moment is to bench him - I thought of a one week transfer for Vidic/terry/Kompany but I'm probably going to want the transfer for something else 🙂
