The Premier League earlier today confirmed the cancellation of Tottenham’s scheduled home game with Everton this Saturday. The club’s ticket office was damaged during days of civil unrest earlier in the week and with control of Tottenham High Road not due to be handed back to the local council from police until tomorrow, there is insufficient time to issue a safety certificate for the match.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said earlier today:

The very latest situation is that Tottenham and Everton has gone. The police have done a fantastic job, but it’s been a crime scene all week and the council have not had enough time to do what they need. The other nine fixtures are looking positive, subject to any more trouble. At 6pm tonight we will have a very clear picture.

Tottenham elaborated further on the club website afterwards:

Following ongoing discussions with the necessary authorities regarding this weekend’s Premier League home match against Everton, it has now been confirmed that this fixture will be postponed due to safety concerns relating to infrastructure of the High Road and access to the stadium caused by last Saturday’s riots.

The scenario leaves Fantasy Managers with some re-thinking to do ahead of Saturday‘s deadline, then. At the moment, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka have a combined ownership of 470K Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for the visitors while a look at the home side shows Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart have been selected by 350K, 198K and 141K Fantasy managers respectively.

Spurs’ opening game of the season is now a visit to Old Trafford and with a difficult home game with Man City in Gameweek 3, short-term investment in their players could drop as a consequence. Everton, on the other hand, open their campaign at Goodison Park against QPR before taking a trip to Blackburn.

The 6pm Premier League update will provide more clues. At present, the nine games look likely to go ahead, meaning there’s a Double Gameweek on the horizon for at least two teams before the season has even kicked-off.

With Torres picking a knock it makes Drogba a better pick for the first few weeks.

Cheers, I made the switch and I might bring shawcross back after stoke play Man utd so I now have 2.5 in the bank.

I dont really want to upgrade Jarvis now because of his opening fixtures but I may upgrade him gameweek 2/3.

To be honest I really only have ephraim in the team because I think his value could rise, and he has favourable fixtures. so I will probably upgrade him around gameweek 8.

I also plan on swapping out williams for jose enrique gameweek 2/3.

Is the general consensus Benayoun won’t play?

    A) Benayoun, Silva, Zamora

    B) Malouda, Yaya, DJ

Which looks better, with B i’d probably do Taarabt to Sessegnon too.

RNK (who were their latest opponents) were very poor and they are the best team they've played, so wouldn't read too much into that.

And Jol isn't exactly defensively minded, doubling up on Villa myself.

    RMT:

    Given Kenny

    Cashley Kompany Alcaraz (Gabbidon) (Simpson)

    Malouda Silva N'Zogbia Taarabt Moses

    RVP Zamora Holt

Changed Baines to Cashley, VDV to Silva and Taylor to Alcaraz. This leaves me 1.0 in the bank for flexibility. Would probably want Baines and VDV back (though VDVD not until GW 6, or DGW).

Any comments? Pretty genereic, which I think is good, though maybe a little light up front?

Completely reshaped my team with all the transfer news today. Quite like the way it looks although tempted to get carroll instead of bent for gw1 at least, but i would have no attacking villa coverage.

    Give Al Habsi

    Cole, Lescotte, Enrique, Bramble, Gabbidon

    Nani, Silva, Ramsey, Moses, Dyer

    Drogba, Bent/Carroll, Zamora

What do you think overall. Bent or Carroll to start the season?

I also want Bent, but Nzogbia at 7.5 is too good a deal to pass up imo, especially at this stage when money is so tight.

And I dont trust Villa enough to have Bent AND Nzogbia, so Bent is a luxury I cant afford! At the moment I have Drogba (and Malouda and Cashley), can easily sell him for Bent/Carroll/Suarez if need be...

for 4mil (touch-wood) i would only want to play my sub keeper at home and norwich conceded 3 times as many home goals as swansea last season. despite a new league and naughton and de laet added to norwich i don't fancy them getting close to swansea this year either

And Nasri can sod off too. Good for half a season and he thinks he is God! If he goes to City and has a bad second half of the season, he will be relegated to the bench pronto

I asked this yesterday but nobody replied, not sure whether people just don't know (or care) or whether it's been discussed before but I haven't seen anybody mention Conor Wickham. Everyone seems sure that Sessegnon will be played up front but Wickham surely represents competition for that spot - my question is why people think Sessegnon is such a good pick? Admittedly I don't know anything about Sunderland's setup but if he's going to be playing in midfield then I don't see the attraction. Is Wickham not considered a starter?

I haven't had Sess in any drafts of my team. There just seems to be much better value around that price and his stock definitely falls if he is just going to be played in midfield.

at best he will be OOP behind striker. he's been every present pre season scoring goals/assists and being the star. bruce himself has said he will play an important role this season.

I made a prank phone call to someone selling a car in Trade It once (well, more than once):

Me - I'm phoning about the car; how big is it?
    Him - oh it's a 4 door hatchback
Me - No, in terms of capacity
Him - oh.. erm.. 1.8 litre.
    Me - No cubic capacity.
    Him - I don't understand
Me - If you were to fill it with water, how much could it hold?
Him - Uhm... I couldn't tell you to be honest...
Me - Huh. Never mind, I'll pass.

    And then the Ferrari:
Me - Hi! I'm phoning about the Ferrari for sale in Trade It
    Him - Oh yes!
Me - What couour is it?
    Him - Red.
Me - Oh. I wanted a brown one. Never mind.

Please RMT would be very appreciated!! Thanks in advance. Also ignore name it was a drunken joke that went wrong with a few mates.

    Given, (Moreira)
    Rafael, Alex, Enrique, (ORR), (Simpson)
Nani (C), Ramsey, Silva, Malouda, (Ferguson)
    Suarez, Campbell, Drogba

    0.5 Million in bank.

Thinking about upgrading Alex to Luiz if needed depended on Chelsea starting lineup. Also I am considering taking out a defender for Scott Dann if the deal goes through. Simpson now guaranteed 1st team should I stick with him or move to R Taylor?

Ramsey looks a definite starter and will nail down his spot with Fabregas leaving and all the midfield injuries at Arsenal. Ferguson just a cheapie not being used at all. Other midfielders not much to say names explain themselves.

Torres injured so Drogba due to start at least GW1 then I can take him out for Hernandez when he returns(Goal Machine). Suarez we all know is going to rack up goals and assists for fun. DJ Campbell is a goal poacher end off.
