We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

Not sure about Dzeko - he'll probably start the first game but once Aguero is fully fit (and if Tevez stays) will he keep his place?

He's 8.5, which is an awkward figure, you'd need to trade down to someone like Zamora or Gyan, or shuffle your team around and take a points hit.

Suarez probably wont start the season, so have Carroll if you can afford the extra 0.5, then swap for Suarez at a later date.

After the first game I doubt Kelly will play that often, surely it'll be Enrique and Johnson (actually, is he injured?) at fullback.

Dyer may not play that often either (I'm assuming it's Nathan Dyer of Swansea). It could be Sinclair and Routledge on the wings (Dyer on the bench), or Routledge will play inside with Sinclair and Dyer on the wings. Bit unknown at this stage.

Dzeko could be a very good gamble for a week, but with Aguero and Tevez lurking in the background I'm not sure how long Dzeko will hold down a starting role. I'm not keen on Holt, but others will disagree and say he's a good option.

Cheers Bubbles, I'm not sure Enrique will get in GW1 but it is a swap I'm planning on doing very soon, prob for Bolton home.

Agree Dyer is a risk but was struggling with alternatives- best I could muster was Surman and I have Holt already.

Dzeko really is a big gamble I know.

        See reply below re Holt.

It's good and it's a bit different from the identikit teams here. I like the fact you have cover for all the 'big' clubs without all the obvious or more poplular choices. Might pay off, might not.
Only thing I don't like is the Dyer and Holt rotation you'll be forced into.

That said, I should add that I agree with te comments above about Dzeko and Kelly only for the short term. Kelly to Enrique is the obvious transfer but Dzeko might cause you problems.

Yeah i wanted something a bit different but not extravagantly so since most are the same on here for a reason I guess.

Excellent point on the rotation, DJ would work much better!

        Id pick the wide man
        More likely to score
        Less likely for cards

I'd say Gabbidon 80% likely to start. Orr 50/50 to start as he's in competition with Keiron Dyer for the RB slot.

    Need a quick opinion:

    A) silva + nani + Ramsey + DJ + drogba
Malouda In for silva after gw1

    B) silva + zogbia + Sinclair + Zamora + Rooney
Malouda in for silva after gw1

Decided to have a go at my own predictions:

    League:

Top five: Chelsea, Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Fulham ()
Bottom four: Swansea, Blackburn, Wolves, Norwich
    This year’s Overachievers: Fulham
    This Year’s Underachievers: Liverpool
    Top Goalscorer: Carlos Tevez
    Most Assists: Florent Malouda
Team with Most Clean Sheets: Chelsea
    Most Yellow Cards: Titus Bramble
First Boss to Bite the Bullet: Mick McCarthy
    Worst Signing: Gael Clichy

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Top Points Scorers

Overall Top Points Scorer: Florent Malouda
Top Bonus Point Darling: David Silva
Top Scoring Budget Goalkeeper (5.0 and under): Mark Schwarzer
Top Scoring Budget Defender (5.0 and under): Aaron Hughes
Top Scoring Budget Midfielder (6.5 and under): Mauro Formica
Top Scoring Budget Forward (6.5 and under): Grant Holt

Seems strange to be picking all these Fulham players being a Chelsea fan. 😛

If you don't understand, then you don't deserve to have Moses in your team.

He's the central attacking force at Wigan now without N'zogbia and has the best first 3 fixtures out of anyone. He's also one of the best 5m squad fillers in the game.

Nah, they'd still be 15th or 16th. I'm tipping West Brom to finish in the top half, which is a big step considering how they were doing last year.

    Hey guys,

As Suarez is most likely not playing GW1, Im taking a punt on Gervinho just for GW1 and then swapping to Suarez for GW2.

Anyone think he is worth a punt for captain at home to Newcastle? I currently have Silva capt but thought I might take a risk for the first game.

    Any thoughts?
