The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

This early team news from the Emirates has been collated in our Team News section – keep popping back there for all the updates as today unfolds.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If Brunt is on pens he could be great value this year. Odem is just terrible at them and apparently Brunt's had them pre-season so maybe. Sticking with Taarabt to begin with but if that goes tits up Brunt is definitely an option, him and O'Hara offer some nice midfield rotation as well.

I've got O'Hara and Brunt. Brunt seems like one of the best options at 6 mil.

    Slowly achieving stability.

Lescott - Alex - S. Taylor (Brown, Tate)

    Nani - Taarabt - O'Hara - Moses (Hoolahan)

    RVP (c) - Drogba - Dzeko

1.5 in the bank to get in Baines for Lescott in week two. Long term thinking Enrique instead of Alex to free up another million. Heavy up top to start with, when Torres returns I'll likely downgrade Drog to a cheapie or maybe even Sturridge and upgrade in midfield. Only real remaining issue is which Sunderland defender, but I'm thinking Brown should be starting else there'd be no point him going there.

im keeping back 2.0m just to see who is worth buying, gives you so much more flexibility! looking pretty nice, might be worth upgrading hoolahan unless you believe in him a lot! haha. Walters from stoke will be playing as a striker got 100+ points last year, and O'hara should do well. Two good bench warmers for 0.5m more.

    2 questions chaps:

best 4,5 def?(already have Orr and Brown)

seein hundreds of RMTs and I dont see DJ CAMPBELL in front almost nowhere - HOLT is preffered (for the same price)
isnt he (DJ) worth considering a bit more?

Steven Taylor, rotates perfectly with Brown. Or Woodgate/Upson/Senderos if you fancy a big gamble.

DJ was in every team a few days ago when he first signed. I think the general belief now is he may be played on the wing with Bothroyd up top. Holt meanwhile is the main man on penalties. Still, DJ is proven and definitely not a bad shout.

Brown and Givet also rotate well, or Senderos and Taylor. Lots of choices.

and I will keep DJ to make some differential to the average of the mainstream 🙂

        Cheers gyus!

I honestly believe that Suarez will have to play if Liverpool have any serious aspirations to the title and to have a good season.

Gervinho anyone? I reckon he is well worth a punt. He looked great in preseason and had a couple assists for Ivory Coast. 3.0 less than RVP and I believe he will start.

Nah i think Arsenal will win games, and score goals as they always do. With no Cesc or Nasri some one has to fill the gap and ramsey/wilshere/RVP cant do it all! Thinkwalcott, once hes backk, will have a blinder.

    Yaya Toure - a question

Do people think he's going to have the same impact this season? Will he play in the majority of matches?

I've got him in but I've been swaying back and forth between him and Silva (subsequently downgrading a striker, probably Carroll to Zamora).

Last minute nerves on my part.

i think toure is a good bet....good value, a consistent player and he does score goals. I know there is the rotation risk but he is more likely to be in most city starting XI's

was only planning on Rodallega for the first few games as they have an easier start to the season. Also, waiting for Odemwingie to be fit. If I went for a Rooney etc up front, who should i sacrifice in midfield and who can i put in their place, cheers

If anyone could RMT/give me general thoughts it'd be much appreciated:

    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany, R. Johnson, Hughes/Enrique, (Simpson)
    Ramsey, Nani, N'Zogbia, Moses, Silva,
    Drogba, Carroll, (Holt)

I think I've built in flexibility - 1.5mil left in the bank. So can easily switch out drogba/nani/carroll - malouda/suarez/aguero/rvp/rooney.

    Thanks...
