Van Persie Back In The Frame

The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.â€

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

      Id be tempted to downgrade Bent (as you have N Zogbia) and maybe put a bit of money into your defense, but that is just me. Otherwise strong.

      A little bit light on City and Chelsea players for my money, although downgrading Rooney to Drogba/Torres/Suarez after GW1 could help you there.

      Your midfield is also very light with Taaraby and Sinclair and Ferguson.

      you may need to find some funds from somewhere to take another look at that, possibly Lescott to Kompany for a start just so you can get rid of Fergsuon.

      You're a midfielder short, and my [homogenous predictable RMT advice alert] criticisms would be Brunt and Huth who are fairly pricey and don't have the kindest starts.

    Guys i'm 0.5m off affording this team, any idea how I could save it?

    Only thing I can see is to swap Bent for Suarez, but Villa have great fixtures compared to Liverpool.

    A polite inquiry: why are so few investing in Senderos, the cheapest way into the team with the best fixtures over the first 10 weeks?

        Yeah, I like this team.

        Really nice balance. Only concern would be if Torres comes back in for week two or three you'll be withough any Chelsea players for their sweet fixtures.

      Holt is captain and on pens (sometimes free-kicks). He should start every game and does assist quite a lot.

    Don't normally like to do this but can't decide on my last piece of the puzzle... Looking for a 6m midfielder (already have Sess, Moses, Silva, Malouda). Trying to pick between Jarvis, O'Hara, Walters and Pennant I think.

    Any opinions on the above or an alternative?

        Got Malouda at present. Got monies ready for Drog in GW2 but may get him in now. I do have big concerns over his playing time though. Torres (assuming fit) is not going to sit on the bench for 90 mins so Drog may end up sharing game time with him.

        I have a strange feeling that Anelka will start with Malouda and Kalou playing off him. Although, Stoke's physical presence should dictate Drog starts.

    I'm tempted with Downing as a punt instead of Suarez/Carroll as Liverpool cover at the start. My thinking being he'll probably supply whoever it is that scores and will the fact that Suarez/Carroll are both so strong strangely mean points may be shared between them in a way?

    Actually this sounds like madness, I think I'm over-thinking it 🙂

    Just found this site after 3 years of FPL, i'm already addicted to checking it!
    Could I ask for a last minute RMT
    Reina, Mignolet
    Hughes, Warnock, Kompany, Brown, Jose Enrique
    Etherington, N'Zogbia, Silva, Moses, Sinclair
    Bent, Drogba, Rodallega

    Leaves me with 2m in bank to make changes when starters are clear.

      I think it is a strong team. Not sure about doubling up on Liverpool defenders tho. Etherington has got difficult fixtures, although he should still get points as he takes all their set pieces.

        Thanks. May change Reina to Hart/Cech when Enrique starts playing.
        Was also thinking about using the 2m to change etherington for downing, but wanted to see his first few games. Also etherington has Nor/WBA in wks 2 and 3 and if (big if) they get crouch by then etherington will have him and jones to supply!

              I want Bent but I am really concerned about the idea of him playing with Heskey and Gabby. N'Zog is quite selfish too so Bent may really suffer without Young/Downing loading the bullets.

    My team is getting close.

    Three players I'm not confident with (£0m in the bank):

    Simpson £4.0m (bench player)
    Hangeland (£6.5m)
    O'Hara (£6.0m)

    Can anyone think of other options? One thing I'm thinking is perhaps downgrade Hangeland (I'll be looking to get in Enrique), get in Ramsey, although that could wait until a couple of weeks.

    Any other prospects in these price brackets? (I have Kompany, Rafael, Bramble, Moses, Sinclair).

        Yeah I was perhaps nervous because of having to bench O'Hara first off. I'd like to squeeze Ramsey in eventually but he could come in for Sinclair or Silva. My Welsh heart ruling my head on a few transfers!

    Hi Guys, any chance you can RATE MY TEAM, because I am unable to sit at my computer and read the general team out line most people have got! I can't be bothered to use my own brain or speed longer then 30seconds on my team so if every else help it just makes it easy for me.         Suarez is unlikely to start. DDG has tricky fixtures the first month. I'd upgrade one of sinclair taraabt or moses to a more proven prem player
