The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

This early team news from the Emirates has been collated in our Team News section – keep popping back there for all the updates as today unfolds.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Forgot about Da Laet... thanks. Think my team is now just about complete. [Drumrolls]:

          Given (Ruddy)
R.Johnson, Lescott, Gabbidon (Jose Enrique, De Laet)
          Nani, Silva, N'Zogbia, Moses (Sinclair)
          RVP, Carroll, Holt

$1M in the bank to bring in Malouda next week. Heavy with Norwich, but Ruddy seems to be the safest $4.0M bet, and I think De Laet has the greatest price appreciation potential in the $4.0 range. Lost sleep over dropping Baines and Taarabt.

          So... what do you think?

You could sacrifice Cashley (there's a thought!) untill the Chels back four is clarified, then get Bos/Luiz in later for Chels def coverage. Complicated maybe, but none of 'em are obvious candidates to drop

    Rate My Stat:

When Wimbledon beat Watford 5-0 in the 99/00 season each goal was scored by the next number along in the squad.

    1:0 Carl Cort (No. 7) 15 mins.
    2:0 Robbie Earle (No. 8) 32 mins.
    3:0 John Hartson (No. 9) 61 mins.
    4:0 Jason Euell (No. 10) 67 mins.

With Enrique at Liverpool it means that you can access two top teams' defenders for 11.0. This has led me to reconsider whether I need A Cole as well. A defence of Kompany, Enrique, 5.0, 4.0, 4.0 (with 9.0 spent on keepers) allows a front 8 of:

    Malouda/Silva, Nani, NZog, OHara, Moses
    RVP, Carroll, DJ.

Actually, that leaves 0.5 over so could even upgrade Kompany to Lescott.

    Any obvious flaws?

Just that Enrique wont start GW1 and so in the short term it leaves you with a poor DF for GW1.

    Lamps, Wright-Phillips, Young, Bale, N'Zogbia
    K Davies, Sturride, Holt

Wright-Phillips is only in since I am 99% sure he will move to Bolton and the moment he does I'm sure his price will go up since I am sure he will walk straight into the first team.

Absoloutely no point having sturridge at the moment - all that will happen is lose value.

SWP - it's your funeral. If you want him, I'd wait until he signs - what if he doesn't sign until 31st August? 3 weeks = 0 points.

Bale - awful opening fixtures and not even playing this weekend

Young - Personally I think Nani > Young but that's probably quite close

      K Davies - I'm starting to think you're a bolton fan

Good points all round. Sticking with Young but you 100% correct on SWP, Danny and Bale. Davies has been a consistent scorer in the EPL for a while and he's an old FPL favoruite of mine 😉

        Thanks for the help mate

SWP price won't change immediately, the prices only change by people transferring him in in their thousands.

Also Sturridge is a MUST change, you need to sort out your forwards completely as they're farrr too cheap, you'll need to make a lot of transfers to get a decently priced person in.

Cheers mate, I thought the FPL prices fluctuated on different terms but if its only trading that affects the price then I'm dropping him. Thanks!

I checked yesterday ... 33% of people had Nzogbia and that was just over 500,000 ... so that means it's over 1,500,000 and will be about 2,000,000 by the time the games kick off tomorrow

Depends on the rest of your team and what formation you are going. Perhaps do Barton to a 4.5 like Dyer and you have 1.5 left to upgrade Sess or Murphy if you like.

Thanks for the feedback. Makes a lot of sense to have 5 decent midfielders.

What do you think of Dzeko and Ferguson out for Rodallega and Craig Gardner?

Another problem I might have is three 4.0 defenders, could also go with Dzeko,Ferguson and De Laet out for Rodallega, Noel Whelan and Aaron Hughes?
