The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

This early team news from the Emirates has been collated in our Team News section – keep popping back there for all the updates as today unfolds.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Please RMT if you could be so kind.

    Given
    Alcaraz, Kompany, Cole
    Nani, Silva, N’Zogbia, Moses
    Van Persie, Drogba, Holt

    Ruddy, Gabbidon, Simpson, N Dyer.

    0.5m in the bank.

    Any suggestions for improvements?

I’m already planning to switch Alcaraz to Enrique by GW3. I may switch Nani to Malouda for GW2 or switch Drogba to Suarez.

All basically solid. If you want to nitpick, Given and Ruddy don't rotate, so I think it's worth the extra 0.5 for Kenny. I've gone Orr instead of Gabbidon, but I'm sure either is fine. Not sure about Dyer.

      Your team is magic.

There are always flaws in every team of course. Fulham have some of the most lucrative fixtures but you don't have any of their attackers. I think you could probably live with that though.

bet everyone is as eager as i am for the season to kick-off!
    RMT

    Given (Ruddy)
    Hughes Lescott Elokobi (Orr, Simpson)
    Yaya Nani, Taraabt, Moses (Dyer)
    Rooney, Drogba, Carrol

    0.5 left in the bank
I quite like the look of this at the moment, only suspect cases perhaps Elokobi (has a knack of scoring random goals) and potentially slightly overpriced Yaya. Wanted Silva but could not afford. Or maybe Drogs to Bent?
Would love to know your thoughts!

also with the new bonus system, if Silva keeps making those second last passes, would he be a front runner on bonus as he was last year or credit more give to those taking shots (which he doesnt)?

I do get the feeling may actually worth going for yaya although i still think slight overpriced - he does tend to go forward and have a go at goal - also lurks around goal mouth on corners - with nasri heading to City, is Silva nailed on? i would say Yaya more than Silva, true or false?

Taking a big gamble that all the points are with the forwards. You'll then spend points having to realign your team to shore up the defence.

Holt seems to be a guaranteed starter and take penalties, however unproven in the Prem.
Fixtures: Wigan (A), Stoke (H), Chelsea (A), West Brom (H), Bolton (A), Sunderland (H)... so pretty good opening fixtures. I'd be tempted to play him in all apart from maybe the Chelsea game.

DJ has competition for a starting place and also seems more likely to be subbed off. Proven value in the Prem though, although with a different team.
Fixtures: Bolton (H), Everton (A), Wigan (A), Newcastle (H), Wolves (A), Aston Villa (H)... so he also has decent opening fixtures and I'd pick him for any of those games if I felt sure he'd start.

So for me, it's Holt... at least until DJ has proven himself to be a certain starter, but even then he's not on penalties as far as I know.

Overspend in midfield leaving both defence and attack quite weak

Reply fail before. I would put Nani was captain. More attacking potential than Silva.

Interesting how Taraabt seems to have disappeared from most teams. 😕

Chaps! Right so was hoping Ivanovic would be fit but its not looking likely 🙁 Have shifted my team aroudn because of this and decided to do away with Chelsea defence for now. Please glance your eye over this lot

      Given - Ruddy

      Lescott - Hangeland - Enrique - Givet - SImpson

      Malouda - Silva - Ramsey - O'Hara - Moses

      Rooney - Carroll - Graham

Lescott and Hang were origionally Kompany and Ivan.

Do you think its worth keeping Kompany and the .5m so I can do Hangeland to Ivanovic when he's fit, hopefully GW2???

I do like the goal threat with Lescott and Hang though...
      Thoughts would be appreciated?
