The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

This early team news from the Emirates has been collated in our Team News section – keep popping back there for all the updates as today unfolds.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Chelsea has wonderful fixtures till GW4. Why is no love for Lampard ? His ownership is much lesser than Malouda or Drogba. Malouda is not on FK/PK and Drogba may not play 90 min after GW1

yeah, but Malouda is 10.5 (not cheap). Worthless checking pts scored/million for each of them last season.

I dont want to write my team off by squeezing RVP or Rooney in...It would completely ruin my defence which looks healthy without them and I cant exactly envisage hat-tricks in the opening fixtures for either of them anyway....Hmmmm.

From Wigan's press conference, news on Rodallega & Alcaraz's inclusion in the 11 tomorrow:

    http://www.wiganlatics.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10429~2417811,00.html

Doesn't sound too promising. I think Rodallega will start, might have to get rid of Alcaraz though.

Sorry for repost - lost on last page

Chaps! Right so was hoping Ivanovic would be fit but its not looking likely Have shifted my team aroudn because of this and decided to do away with Chelsea defence for now. Please glance your eye over this lot

    Given – Ruddy

    Lescott – Hangeland – Enrique – Givet – SImpson

    Malouda – Silva – Ramsey – O’Hara – Moses

    Rooney – Carroll – Graham

Lescott and Hang were origionally Kompany and Ivan.

Do you think its worth keeping Kompany and the .5m so I can do Hangeland to Ivanovic when he’s fit, hopefully GW2???

I do like the goal threat with Lescott and Hang though…
    Thoughts would be appreciated?

You're asking about an unkonw quantity for £5.5m when you've already got another unknown quantity in the team with Moses.

All i'm saying is you may want to look at downgrading elsewhere, as I don't see much value at that price range at all.
