The second day of the 2011/12 Premier League season sees two of the main title contenders in action. The new Chelsea boss, Andre Villas-Boas, has a tough first competitive assignment at the Britannia Stadium, to take on Tony Pulis’ Stoke City. Following that, the reigning Champions Manchester United are also on the road, with The Baggies waiting for them at The Hawthorns.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business as usual, so come in, take a seat and hope we see an improvement on yesterday’s events (both before and during the games)…

News from the Britannia has filtered through, and there’s a debut for Stoke City centre-back Jonathan Woodgate. He plays in a 4-4-2 that sees Jon Walters partner Kenwyne Jones up front.

For the visitors, Fernando Torres is passed fit and plays at the expense of Didier Drogba. The Spaniard is flanked by Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

    right, so thats settled it for me, Drogba can't be relied on if he's a rotation risk. Whats the prognosis on Saha as a pick? As a player i recall he scores when he's fit... which isnt often

      Unfortunately, Saha falls into the category of King and Woodgate. Supreme class when fit. Never fit, or always a risk.

          That's true. It's a gamble. If you get him in, at least you took the risk, he may do well, may get injured. You've just got to accept you may have to use a transfer to get him out. It's maybe worth it though.

    This scoring system doesn't seem to add up.

    My gameweek says that Gervinho scored -2 and the breakdown says:
    YC = -1
    Minutes play = 2
    RC = -3

    But if the FPL scoring page says that "Red card deductions include any points deducted for yellow cards" then surely he should only have scored -1.....??

    Can anyone shed some light on this?

        I presume that is only when the red card is a 2 yellow card situation. In Gervinho's case he got a yellow and a straight red, not 2 yellows --> a red. Therefore -1 for the yellow and -3 for the red.

          If you get two yellows you're still shown a red. Anyway the phrasing of the scoring rules implies it's a max -3 for a sending off, much like it is in other ff games I've played.
