The second day of the 2011/12 Premier League season sees two of the main title contenders in action. The new Chelsea boss, Andre Villas-Boas, has a tough first competitive assignment at the Britannia Stadium, to take on Tony Pulis’ Stoke City. Following that, the reigning Champions Manchester United are also on the road, with The Baggies waiting for them at The Hawthorns.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business as usual, so come in, take a seat and hope we see an improvement on yesterday’s events (both before and during the games)…

News from the Britannia has filtered through, and there’s a debut for Stoke City centre-back Jonathan Woodgate. He plays in a 4-4-2 that sees Jon Walters partner Kenwyne Jones up front.

For the visitors, Fernando Torres is passed fit and plays at the expense of Didier Drogba. The Spaniard is flanked by Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

I'm going 0-2 Chelsea. Didn't they only concede once during the pre-season? I know they didnt face many quality squads, but I think Stoke will be cagey, and not willing to get forward.

Also, have a fiver on 0-2 at 7.5-to-1.

AVB is Intelligent. He's not responsible for buying Torres, so he might not feel he has to prove that he's worth playing;/starting every game.
However, I think Torres must've shown some class to get the nod anyway!

I don't understand why Drogba is finding himself out of favour. Before his illness last year he was THE best striker in the league, and one of the best in the world. Surely that long-passed illness hasn't sucked the footballing ability out of him?! Torres has been absolute crap for the last 2 years.

Its weird isnt it. Also, surely 2 of the best strikers in the world, who on paper seem to complement each others games should be given a go at playing together at some point. If chelsea could get torres and drogba on form and playing together they could win everything on offer.

All this crap about Malaria never leaving you quite the same is bullsh!t. Me and my dad have both had Malaria while living abroad and 2 months afterward we were strong as bulls again.

Torres is being played to justify his price tag.

As much as it's funny to see Chelsea do badly and £50m looking like a waste I sort of want Torres to do well today so maybe people can stop saying that Torres is "sh*t" when clearly he isn't he's just on a (very) bad run of form.

You know, I'm not convinced it is just form.

With all the hamstring trouble he's had I get the impression he's lost a touch of his pace. Obviously he's lost a lot of confidence, too, but I don't think he can blister past defenders now.

Even if Torres does well today, I just don't think you can afford to have either him or Drogba in your team. Who's to say, if Torres scores today, Drogs won't start the next. Absolutely certain that AVB is going to rotate them all season. It Malouda for me in GW2.

I' so happy I bought all the safe players... was tempted by Gervinho. Loads went with Drogba, Almost had Albrighton... I haven't done well this game week, but at least all my players played and should do well in the future...

tempted by Carrol -> Saurez though... liverpool went a little flat once Saurez got subbed...

Wanted Lamps in but alas the crash blah blah.. Hopefully him and Rooney don't run riot this week- they will go straight into my team: certain attacking starters in the two best teams in the league, set-pieces, proven fantasy-wise; the list goes on = a must for their easy fixtures and in Rooney's case as United are beastly there- home ones.
