Cech Out for Three to Four Weeks

Petr Cech has been ruled out of action for three to four weeks with a knee injury.

Andre Villas-Boas today confirmed his number one keeper will be unavailable for selection until the end of September:

“Petr Cech yesterday suffered a medial ligament injury and will be out for three to four weeks. It was the end of training, a normal training incident. He fell awkwardly with his weight on top of him. We expected much worse when we saw the incident.”

This should see him miss a run of fixtures that reads (WBA, NOR, sun, mun, SWA). Immediately this brings Hilario and Ross Turnbull into the equation. Hilario was on the bench for the game at Stoke last weekend and, of the two, looks likely to get the nod.

Both come in at 4.5 and with those next two home games in particular catching the eye, some Fantasy managers may be willing to turn their back on nailed-on, pricier options such as John Terry and Ashley Cole and take a punt- Chelsea are strong favourites to pick up clean sheets in both fixtures.

Cech will now be removed from the Watchlist in due course.

        Maybe see all out Chelsea attack in the next few games, rather than trying too hard to protect the keeper? It's what I'd do.

          Has to be Hilario. Portuguese connection and the fact he was on the bench for GW 1. They'll want someone with experience for this early period.

            Thanks for that both of you. From what I remember, Hilario was pretty decent considering he was absolutely budget.

            No - Ivanovic is a beast defensively and a danger at set pieces too.

            Defensively Bosingwa is a problem, but this is West Brom we are playing. I also thought Bosingwa was best chelsea player last weekend.

        Not only that, maybe Bosingwa is more risky now as Ivanovich would make the defence less attacking and offer more protection to the keeper.

        Ivanovich Terry Alex and Cole would still give Hilarios great protection, Bosingwa might be too attacking given the circumstances.

          See my above point, attacking is the best way to defend against,so called lesser teams. If I was AVB (and I might be), I'd go all out attack, win over some neutrals.

            attack will win the game at home to west brom yes, but doesn't neccessrily mean chelsea will keep a clean sheet, they could score 5 by all out attack but all it takes is WBA to score 1 and then there are no clean sheet points for any of the defence or keeper

    With Norwich having 2 pretty tough games coming up, would you downgrade Hoola-hoop to someone like Dyer?

    Swansea have Wigan, Sunderland, WBA in their next 3 home games (2 of which GW2+3) and also frees up 1.0.

    If any of the Scouts are about, will we be seeing another article on the PPI point system soon? Monday’s article said there’d be another to follow later that day, which would “break down the bonus in full”, but the FPL apology obviously took centre stage after that. Still, I’d be very interested in that kind of analysis if the article is done!!!

    So what's your thoughts regarding WC:

    A: I'm playing it in 2 GWs time, during the international break so therefore planning to get the most out of the next 2 GWs. Also, the transfer window will be closed and Everton + Spurs' DGW may be played early on in the season.

    B: I'm keeping options open - trying to plan for a few GWs but with with the international break in the back of my mind as a backup option.

    C: I'm leaving it as long as possible, with no plans to use it anytime soon, but, will use it in the INT break if things have gone a bit Pete Tong.

    D: I want to keep hold of it for the DGWs towards the end of the season, so have no intention of playing it until then.

    E: Something else (please state)
