Monday Dugout Discussion

The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, so come in and take a seat whilst we mull over the all-important team news…

Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

Man United XI: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Anderson, Cleverley, Nani, Young, Rooney, Welbeck

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

Spurs XI: Friedel; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Kranjcar, Livermore, Bale; Van der Vaart; Defoe

Take a pew in the Dugout Discussion chatroom, where you can follow all the action from tonight’s game.

Somehow by forgetting to change my teams after trying to make some $$$ on Friday Night, I've ended up with a team that did quite well

about the only positive from the game.

Team totally switched off after a rather okay looking first half.

Hudd looks really off the pace, subbing Krancy didn't help us keep the ball. VDV was selfish. Livermore one of our best tonight.

Hurry up Adebayor, end of transfer window (and keeping Modric) and Sandro getting back from injury / Diarra.

          Kaboul wasn't half bad either.

Hopefully we'll get some games out of Ledley this year.
And yes we need Adebayor badly and Modric to stay

You clearly did not watch the game. United had 21 shots on target, if it wasn't for Friedel it could easily have ended 5+ goals.

Rubbish. Spurs have a terrible record against United at Old Trafford, Rooney is in fine form and is also owned by a large number of players = safe captain choice.

          I didn't pick him personally but if I wasn't a bellend I would have.

ahahaha don't be too bitter mate - ignore the bandwagon and forget banking on players with the easiest home games (like Chelsea and Villa) Use the Force, back quality, consider form and motivation, rest and fitness - in short - PICK ROONEY and you might get some points. You're welcome.

      Exactly.

He IS a problem for defenses though. His lane is the little things that defenders forget.

but, i quite like the idea of 2 free transfers next week. also, kenny said suarez isn't fully fit, so while suarez is clearly a good long term pick, I can see him not starting again this weekend. what to do what to do.

Ignoring the EA PPI (as I don't know how it works), Welbeck should get 3 despite his first half performance (simply because he scored and assisted). Rooney/Anderson/Jones/Evra will be pushing for them too. No-one had a bad game really, the bps are up for grabs.

+1 Rooney's workrate must count for something even under the obsurities of this bonus points system - he got the goal, laid onto one or two chances.

He could be the having the captain's armband too for the weekend against the under-pressure Gunners? Once bitten, twice shy for the Torres (c)?!

Left footed team (Cleverly Anderson start things off with guess which foot.) SAF really needs to give them the versatility to switch sides. he got way more touches than last match for sure though, I wouldn't worry. He was dangerous in spots.

Tssss. Rooney could easily have scored one of the crosses from Nani.

      Nani will always bring points.

Hoping for at least 2 Roon BPs to carry me over the 50 barrier, could've been a lot better if I'd captained him or Bent but ah well.
