The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, so come in and take a seat whilst we mull over the all-important team news…

Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

Man United XI: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Anderson, Cleverley, Nani, Young, Rooney, Welbeck

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

Spurs XI: Friedel; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Kranjcar, Livermore, Bale; Van der Vaart; Defoe

Take a pew in the Dugout Discussion chatroom, where you can follow all the action from tonight’s game.

Can't believe I went with Sinclair + Surman over Jarvis + Dyer. Cost me serious points. Guess I'm a sucker for penalties.

Anyways, Sinclair to Jarvis tonight? I'd probably end up doing it GW 4 but don't want to transfer out a home fixture for Villa away.

It's funny. 2 weeks ago everyone was on about how sharp Torres looked, back to his best. He plays a game where he gets no service and which is an fpl nightmare and all of a sudden he's a zero again. Discuss.

He looked sharp against Stoke but he didn't have any real chances. Chelsea don't look like making any for him. That may change if they get Mata + Modric but at the moment he doesn't look as dangerous as Suarez/Bent/Aguero/Dzeko/Rooney

It's not really a knock on him at 11M (click my link for article I wrote this morning about him) it's more the ALTERNATIVES for much cheaper 9.5m and 10m - suarez and bent - or even 6.5m - agbnolahor who are all in form and with confidence... that's all.

i still think torres is a good selection (i own him and was burned by giving him (C) this week but 40+% of managers own suarez so one more week of suarez 10 pts and torres 2 pts and i really fall behind...)

are you conservative (suarez) or risky? (torres)

i think im a good enough manager to get those suarez points ill miss against bolton back later in the season in case he explodes and torres fails. but i will really be confident if torres scores and im the only one who owns him... 50-50 really.

They have two old strikers in Anelka and Drogba. AVB wants Torres to get going, he is the future. Along side Lukaku. I think he will keep starting Torres and sub him out if they are not winning as last time.

Is Yaya & Torres -> Silva & Suarez far too knee jerky .. I think it could pay off as both players been brought in will surely be two of the highest scorers this season? Better now than when both players are more difficult to get in?

So thats a thumbs up? 🙂 I reckon im better off doing it now rather than trying to squeeze them in at a more expensive price..

        Any other opinions?

I would agree with Yaya & Torres -> Silva & Suarez and intend to do the very same thing but one at a time, I'm not going to take point hits after a bad start to season.

    I'm thinking of doing

    Baines>Enrique
    Zogs>Silva

for a 4pt hit, looks good to me but I wouldnt mind another opinion.

I would. unless you really believe in Baines then stick with him. I'm not sold on the cleanies myself.

Ya, I was thinking of giving him a chance against Blackburn next GW but I'm worried about Silva's price rise. However, there havnt been any rises or drops in the last few days so I dunno whats going on.

Thinking of swapping Nani for Silva but would like to wait until after GW3. Will Silva go up in price before then though?

Have you looked at a Wolves player? Jarvis, O'Hara or Hunt? Sinclair could prove to be a decent option, remains to be seen..

does it make sense to take a 4 point hit to bring in suarez and silva for yaya and torres? (worried about the price rises)..

and yaya will be more defensive if they continue to only play one of barry/de jong (i know de jong was injured, but I feel there is a possibility of only playing one of them)

I think Mancini will bring De Jong back in as soon as he can. Probably didn't enjoy what could have been a comfortable win ending up so close. He'll want to tighten up and that means Yaya will be pushed forward again 🙂

what's the story with Cleverly here. started both matches for United now. is he fairly firm in the team?? would be a great differential option at 5.5 as United look full of goals...
