The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

        that's what i was thinking.

        i wouldnt be dumping him i just wouldnt be buying him. the thing is I wanted him for next week vs a depleted arsenal while aguero plays totteham. the thing though is i'd probably want to switch back as the two weeks after that aguero has wigan and fulham while rooney would have to play bolton and chelsea. am i right in this though process?

      From my vast wealth of knowledge and in my humble opinion I would go Lescott, cause he used to be and has the ability to be again pure class and score and get assists and did that very thing at the end of last season.

    After a disappointing week I took my first points hit of the year and swapped Torres & Moses for Bent & Jarvis (expect a 0-0 derby). After my first season playing last year was undone by taking silly amounts of point hits I'd vowed to be more restrained this year...

    Still I think they're decent mid-term moves.

      If I had 2 frees I would be making exactly those transfers - not sure it's worth a hit though, Moses can sit happily on my bench and Torres has a better fixture than Bent who faces an in form Wolves. There's also a chance FPL have screwed up the price changes and nothing will change this week.

        I'll be kicking myself if Torres does get a hat-trick, but Jarvis & Bents fixtures over the next few weeks are pretty good. I'm hoping with a couple of tweaks now I can get a team good enough to avoid the temptation of an early wildcard.

          That's the thing isn't it? Norwich next, you'd have to keep him but then you have to captain him otherwise what's the justification for having him in the first place. Right up until the last half hour before the deadline I toyed with having him in the team but the trust is gone. Even if he scores a goal next week I still won't have any regrets.

      They should have gone up. I spent all of yesterday restraining myself from playing my wc as plauers I want and intend to get are rising only to find I have to do it all again today. Not good... when I should be studying 😉

      Discussing this with Champ earlier, apparently the consensus is he was benched because Lambert thought he'd get outmuscled by Stoke- which is a fair shout, he's only 5 foot 6. In his next 6 games he has 3 home games against West Brom, Sunderland and Swansea- I'd imagine he'd get the start in all of those. You'd be benching him this week anyway so I reckon he's worth holding onto for now.

      Don't base a WC off a bad score. Maybe you have a sh*t team but maybe you just got unlucky. Look at what transfers you absolutely need to make - if it's more than 4 you should probably go ahead and wildcard. Anything less needs a bit more thought.

        i needed to reshape my team in an efficient way, downgrading the likes of terry to bos, bringing enrique, suarez to caroll, upgrading osman to cahill, and geting rid of mancity's kompany who everyone have while city are playing more positive and leaking more goals.
        also jones as the only fit stoke striker is a sexy choice while aguero this early is a bit of a bet but sure to be given enough playtime.
        also sess although he ddnt score yet, but playng behind a lone striker looks very tempting with some very good displays.

          Doesn't sound like you have any particularly urgent transfers, you should be able to get away with just a 4 point hit this week and then take it from there next week.

          Think logically, for e.g. in the short term is Bosingwa likely to blow Terry out of the water points-wise? No. Remember the reasons why you bought the players you did last week - little has changed since then.

            As I said previously, I always use my wild card very early. I have a good team but there is much I want to tinker with. It would cost me 16. Have no idea why I took Silva and Enrique out, I can't even remember now was trying to save to buy Lampard for the great Chelsea fixtures as he is the only one I trust. Stupid. And a few other things.

            Anyway, I won my mini league two years running. I simply cannot settle into the game until I play it, also like jumping on good price rise bandwagons. I truthfully can't wait until it's done and played I can't stop tinkering with my team. I'm much better going one or two transfers ahead/at a time.

            Was considering waiting for after the international break but I really like my new team 10x better then the previous ones.

                Worth noting that TotalFPL has players way past the 100% point, but FISO Crack the Code only has Taylor, Suarez, Silva in the 40%'s

                I made Torres > Suarez & Yaya > Silva last night expecting a rise .............. but that's cos I trusted / feared TotalFPL more than FISO

          Malouda for me I think: in Chelsea's home games against the promoted sides last year Malouda scored 2 goals in 2 matches...the third match was against Newcastle, late in the season, and he only saw 26mins of action.

                  The old system was at least predictable: it worked in the favour of us hardcore followers as we knew who the bonus point favourites were. The new system seems odd.

                  I captained Malouda this week so I'm biased, but since he scored the winning goal, you'd think that would have been worth at least A bonus point.

        To all those worried about 20-something point weeks and contemplating Wild Cards - Don't!

        What will you achieve? It's early in the game, nothing is settled and two games don't constitute a run for any team/player. What you will achieve is getting in the players those teams ahead of you already have and therefore never be able to catch them. Stick to your guns and hold out for now.
