The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

            im not one of the ones doing it because i had a bad week, as my first year and lack of EPL knowledge (blame Australian TV) my team was full of duds, only found this site around Saturday so it was too late to get help with the free transfer week. Dont abuse me 😀

          Well...Liverpool look lively right? Downing seems to be involved a lot, and could be one of those players that gets in the mix when Liverpool play way.

          If he is still not firing after 5 GWs then I would reconsider but IMO he is a good pick. Take my opinion as what you will. 😀

              Well Gerrard returning is a new issue, as i'm not sure how they midfield will shift. I think Downing will still be playing, and perhaps have MORE involvement with Gerrard likely to pick hom out on runs.

              8.5 is a funny price point for a mid right now, I feel better options exist above (Silva 9.5, Young 10.0) and below (Jarvis 6.0, Guttierez 6.0, Brunt 6.0).

    Is Ameobi really the first pk man at Newcastle? Barton should have scored last week if not for a handball and is on set piece. If Barton starts taking them I think he is great value even at 6.0

      At 6.5 i would look elsewhere, i had him and gave him the boot but the team does revolve around him, similarly to sinclair at swansea, I don't know enough about him, but Jarvis,brunt, O'hara,ethrington are proven, I take it he's the 4th midfielder option on your teamsheet?

      I wouldn't but I've had a poor start this season

              From the rules section of the FPL site:

              Player prices change during the season dependent on the popularity of the player in the transfer market. Player prices do not change until the season starts.

              The price shown on your transfers page is a player's selling price. This selling price may be less than the player's current purchase price as a sell-on fee of 50% (rounded up to the nearest £0.1m) will be applied on any profits made on that player.

              For example, if you buy a player for £8.3m and when you transfer him his price is £9.0m, his selling price will be £8.6m.

              Not much detail there. I emailed them for clarification on when/how often the prices would change, I'll post any response I get on here.

                  Yeah, I was on a long weekend with my girlfriend in Sydney and snuck a look on the phone and saw we'd gone a goal down early on... saw 2-2 the next day and was well chuffed with it! Season appears to be picking up a little after a shocking start.

      Fiso's price rise %'s updated today 07:00. Nobody is anywhere near 100%.

          Yep, on Fiso all the 'risers' currently have a target NTI (net transfers in) of 79714 which is not how it typically worked last season (last season the target NTI varied depending on total ownership). The 'fallers' still seems to be working that way at the moment.

    thank goodness for no price rises! Could really do with this continuing!
    Anyway...anyone going for Aguerro over Silva from GW4 onwards. I sold Silva after GW1 (that was clever) as i thought Aguerro would get more points over the long term. The Tevez issue slightly clouds things but surely Mancini is going to play his new star man over want-away Tevez?

      Dzeko and Suarez will be the main men IMO. Suarez and Tevez to rotate a little, Balotelli for Dzeko on occasion and Johnson to provide cover for all.

    I have worst start than my first year playing this game. Total only 69 pts in 2 weeks. Need some advice on my team:

    Given, (Vorm)
    Enrique, S Taylor, Bosingwa, (Kompany, De Laet)
    NZog, Nani, VDV, Yaya, (Moses)
    Suarez, Torres, Graham

    1) Do I have my bench correct? Not sure about Graham but want to give him another shot at home??
    2) Do I need to change any player or stick with this team for now? Thinking about taking Nani + Yaya out for Silva + ???
    3) Captain Suarez or Torres?

        Jafalad, I miss having Silva in my team. I could have got him in my second week but decided to stick with Yaya , seems like he's playing more defensively than last year. I took a punt on Graham and that's really swing the balance of my team . Now I need 3 transfer to do Silva in + Bent in. Should I do it for 8 pts hit 🙁

          Yaya seems to become a DM when playing in away fix or harder opponents.

          My first impression of the promoted teams is that they are going to struggle to score goals this year. Would monitor for now.

          8 pt hit is a lot. Keep it to one hit if you can. Decide who is the least essential. You might want to tough it out for another week with Graham.

      The whole new site thing has been one big cluster-f*** really. The 2nd week Wildcard was also a little ridiculous as it was a huge let-off for people and meant many now have similar teams. I had no problems managing my team from hols in Portugal on mobile phone so I don't know what the issue was.

    Back to the bonus points thing.
    I watched the Swans Wigan game on Sat.
    Al Habsi made 4 routine saves and got a bonus point for it.
    Vorm only made 2 saves but this included an outstanding penalty save, which undoubtedly changed the course of the game.
    Ridiculous that A-H gets a bonus point just cos his number of saves was greater, irrespective of the quality.

    Heyo, have been in Thailand and the West Indies the last 3 weeks and completely forgot to register an EPL team, but its never too late 😀

    Bosingwa Enrique Kompany (S Taylor De Laet)
    Silva Young Cahill Jarvis Brunt
    Bent Suarez Long
    Thoughts? Maybe swap Cahill with Adam, Downing, Bale, Yaya ?
    I like Bale and want to get him in but don't trust him after that Man U perfomance, or stick with Timmy C? Thoughts? THANKS GUYS!

        The new system is worse than the old. The bonus will almost certainly be:

        Welbeck 3, Rooney 2, Anderson 1 because they scored. Its a stupid new system. Ashley Young was sensational and deserves 3 imo, but will likely get 0.

          That's what I'm trying to sort. The only thing I can think of is downgrading either Baines of Lescott and replacing Larsson or Sinclair. Any ideas?

            Its a toughy, are you willing to take a points hit? Do you really want Lamps? He's a big drain. You could lose him to say Silva and upgrade Larsson or Sinclair to Downing perhaps. Mata may even come in at 9mil, so you could get him. More pointage overall probably. Baines will come good. Be a shame to dump him already. You could sit on your team another week, and go for three transfers next week and wiat for Mata. But then you could get hammered! Only transfer Ive made is Torres to Bent. I reckon i'm due a good week next week, good fantasy players in my team I reckon. Or hope ha!!!

              I'm going to hold onto Torres this week. If they can't get anything against Norwich I'll never touch him again. Lampard could be an option to ditch alright, but again, it would be weird to get rid of him before such an 'easy' game. I can get rid of Lescott and Larsson and by getting a 4.0 or 4.5 defender I can get a midfielder for 9 or 8.5

                Decisions mate isn't it. I am happy with my team, and I do believe there is an element of luck for the first 2GW, then your skills are tested. Can't fall behind too quickly!

                  It's a right pain in the arse. I could use my wild card but I think there's way more of a benefit to hang onto it. Two transfers will be the maximum I'll do this week. Just gota make sure they're the right ones!
