The Gameweek Captain Poll is now open and sitting proudly in the middle column of your homepage.

While last week’s effort saw Chelsea’s Fernando Torres run away with the majority vote, only to fall flat yet again, this week’s poll already looks a far more intriguing affair.

We’ve just over 300 votes in already and the top rankings look keenly contested. Torres, despite failing once again to find the net against the Baggies, is once more a front runner with the Norwich defence due at the Bridge this weekend. The Spaniard is just one of four strikers currently leading the pack.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez will surely get more than 19 minutes to inflict damage on an obliging Bolton defence at Anfield, while Wayne Rooney is another two-in-two striker with a home fixture this weekend. The ravaged Arsenal line-up looks likely to be patched once again – Rooney could be well placed to capitalise.

It’s Darren Bent who leads the way right now, though – but only just. He’ll be setting his sights on a Wolves defence at Villa Park on Saturday, although Mick McCarthy’s side will arrive with consecutive wins and just one goal against. Bent won’t find it easy then, but is currently the armband favourite off the back of a goal and an assist, in addition to Fantasy Premier League bonus, in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Blackburn.

Below this quartet we find Frank Lampard hovering, an option again boosted by the fact that Chelsea will be widely expected to notch at least a couple against Paul Lambert’s back-four. Likewise, Florent Malouda is an option currently garnering votes. David Silva is already being backed to prolong his sparkling start to the season, despite a testing trip to White Hart Lane, while a few are backing Victor Moses to recover from a knock to take the fight to QPR at the DW Stadium.

An interesting array of poll options, without a clear leader. Cast your vote at some point over the week and throw in your early opinions right here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Right, what to do???

    I have a midfield of
    Silva, Moses, Sessignon, Sinclair

Obviously Moses is a worry, but has a good fixture, but worried by sess, he is OOP but have a feeling Bruce is losing faith with him after no goals.

    Upfront Im ok(ish) with Torres/Rooney/Bent
    so any ideas??

Sessegnon is by far and away Sunderland's best player and that's acknowledged by Bruce and all of the fans. He has looked their only attacking threat this season.
He may drop back into midfield IF, IF, they sign another striker, but that seems very unlikely. Just keep hold of him, he will come good.

Predictions for Udinese - Arsenal then? Could go either way, as an Englishman I would like Arsenal to get through(All about the coefficients!) but would be nice to see Udinese in the Champions League, they apparently played some of the best football in Serie A last season and would like to see more games of theirs on English TV.... Going for a score draw here

Yeah, but if it just said 1.75 instead of 7/4, it would be easy to figure that out. But I guess you could see it as forced education in fractions for gamblers.

A little unlucky (I should add I had him GW1, but took him out GW2). Hit the crossbar in the Swansea game, and alongside Dyer Moses was the best player on the pitch. Didn't he hit the woodwork against Norwich too? And apparently he was the best player that day too.

That bandwagon is a bit unlucky not to have some decent points I think.

Well yeh, the Rodallega one isn't much better tbh. With Norwich, Swansea & QPR fixtures, you just couldn't refuse but I should have known better - Wigan are crap and will be lucky if they don't get relegated, not because they're good enough but because there's 3 poorer teams than them.

Small pond syndrome I call that.

Usually the main man at a small club and takes a step up and all of a sudden the team isn't based on his play but a bunch of players. There ability is watered down as they have to share with the other children.

Avoid. The fact that Villa play 3 forwards - Bent, Agbon & Heskey, means that he'll be playing deeper and not as attacking.

Actually to be honest, your team looks a shambles...You could try and play:

          Hilario
          Baines woodgate Simpson Gabbidon
          Lampard(c) N'Zog Walcott Arteta
          Torres Saha

But you might be better off WCing to be honest, although I really hate to encourage it so early

No, i would never recommend taking a hit, especially an 8 point one, why take out 2 players that have a good chance of starting against the worst team in the prem.

If its a low scoring week again, 8 points could be around 15-20% of your score.

Wilshere, Song, Frimpong, Gervinho all unavailable, and the rest of the team will be tired from tonight's game. I see a comfortable United win myself. I don't think packing the midfield is even necessary against them anymore. I have no doubt they will return as a force (see Liverpool) but at the moment things are looking down.

I believe that Hunt is a better bet. He and Jarvis are the attacking wingers, O hara is CM ATM and not going that in attack,. more working in the mid. When playing 4 4 2 I think he has reduced potential but if/ when one of the forwards gets injured we could see 4 5 1 and he in that attacking mid role which will give him the fantasy exploding potential. He was good for Por and Wol last year when playing in that position.

Nevertheless Wol looks like fantasy potential this year: R.J. Jarvis, Hunt, O Hara, Fletch, Doyle maybe other defender too. I might double on them. I was doing good last year with Barton and Carrol and one New defender cause all of them were good value.

    Right all,
This is my last chance to really sort my team out before deadline.

I'm happy with who i've got but stuck on my captain. I'm torn between :
    A)lampard and B)suarez
    Who would you pick?

I hate the poll these days. Any passer by can click on who ever they feel like and choose the crappest option.
I normally choose myself but this is a hard decision!

Doh, got a bit confused there, kind of mixing him up with Aguero who didn't start the first game! I'd still (c) Lamps, anyway.

Have West Brom been playing a 4-2-3-1 with Long central? Just trying to decide between odemwingie and Long, guessing there's 1 or 2 more weeks till odemwingies starts again?

Jagielka to Enrique a good move this week?

Taking into account fixtures, form, price rise and the use of a free transfer?
