Recovered from Sunday? Knee perfectly rigid? Wildcard intact? Good. The morning has broken and, unlike the first morning, the FPL Bonus has been dropped into the game, revising our Gameweek three totals.

Here’s a quick glance at how the Bonus appears to pan out with our Gameweek review over on the FPL site to follow later today.

Aston Villa vs Wolves
Berra (3) Ward (3), Agbonlahor, Hennessey, Hunt (1)

One of only two matches where the bonus points were spread. Christophe Berra and Stephen Ward share the maximum with identical EA SPORTS PPI scores on the day. Gabby Agbonlahor was Villa’s top Index earner, sharing a single bonus point with Hennessey and Hunt of Wolves. Shay Given and Stephen Warnock just missed out on joining the party.

Blackburn vs Everton
Baines, Howard (2), Arteta (2)

Food for thought for those who are looking to free up some cash by shipping out Leighton Baines. Clearly, when Everton keep a cleanie, Baines is firmly in the hat for bonus points. He pips team-mates Howard and Arteta here in what was a very fortunate win for David Moyes’ side. Neville and Distin were just outside the bonus awards – Mauro Formica was Blackburn’s leading EA SPORTS PPI candidate.

Chelsea vs Norwich
Lampard, Bosingwa, Holt

No surprises here. Frank Lampard was back amongst the big scorers and, in any other Gameweek, would have attracted more Fantasy headlines. Jose Bosingwa’s renaissance continues with further bonus recognition, while Norwich are represented by skipper Grant Holt who just edges out Ramires to claim a single bonus point. Significantly, Juan Mata put in a strong EA INDEX PPI score (21) in just 34 minutes on the pitch.

Liverpool vs Bolton
Henderson, Skrtel, Adam

The three goalscorers share the bonus – again, perhaps not a major surprise. The absence of Luis Suarez will disappoint plenty however – with no goal or assist to show for his efforts, the Uruguayan’s display was not recognised by a strong EA SPORTS PPI leaving him well short of bonus recognition. A contentious issue and certainly this week’s major talking point when it comes to the bonus awards – would the old system had awarded Suarez bonus? We can only speculate but clearly, without a positive goal/assist contribution in the game, players like Suarez will struggle to overcome team-mates who do contribute goals/assists, on pure performance statistics alone.

Man United vs Arsenal
Young, Rooney, Van Persie

No real surprises here given the avalanche of points hoovered up by Young and Rooney. Robin Van Persie’s bonus over other United candidates will raise a few eyebrows given that he missed a first-half penalty. Clearly his goal and overall contribution was enough to see off Anderson who figured next in the EA SPORTS PPI from this match.

Newcastle vs Fulham
Best, Cabaye, Gutierrez

There can be no such quibbles here. Leon Best’s brace earns him maximum bonus recognition while Cabaye and Gutierrez – two of Newcastle’s most consistent performers so far this season, fetch the remaining supplementary points. Danny Murphy was Fulham’s top scoring EA SPORTS PPI performer on the day, behind a host of Newcastle players who dominated matters statistically.

Swansea vs Sunderland
Taylor, Brown, Rangel

Swansea’s attacking full-backs, so involved in the Brendan Rodgers masterplan, suck up two lots of bonus awards from the 0-0 draw with Sunderland. Interestingly, Taylor is now looks assured of starts following Alan Tate’s bizarre golfing accident. Wes Brown was again the standout performer for the visitors. Michel Vorm again registered a double figure EA SPORTS PPI score as his impressive season continues.

Tottenham vs Man City
Dzeko, Nasri, Kompany

City’s reborn centre-forward dominates, returning a huge EA SPORTS PPI score to claim the maximum bonus award. Samir Nasri’s hat-trick of assists has him placed in second on a fine City debut, while Vincent Kompany is again the top City defender on the index, claiming a single bonus, despite conceding. Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure were next for City in the rankings, with Tottenham’s Younnes Kaboul their only representative in the top ten from this match.

Wigan vs QPR
Di Santo, Rodallega, Boyce

Franco Di Santo’s brace has him well out in front when it comes to bonus awards from Wigan’s 2-0 win over QPR. Hugo Rodallega and Emmerson Boyce join the party in a Latics clean sweep. Shaun Derry was the visitors shining light as Wigan dominated the EA SPORTS PPI rankings here. Adel Taarabt again paying the price for off target efforts in a defeat – despite presenting QPR’s biggest threat on the day.

West Brom vs Stoke
Shawcross, Jones (2), Shotton (2)

A miserable display by the Baggies sees Stoke monopolising the bonus awards and the EA SPORTS PPI rankings. Tony Pulis’ side grabbed the three points with a late goal with Ryan Shawcross taking the defensive plaudits. Kenwyne Jones and goalscorer Ryan Shotton shared 2 bonus points, just edging out Asmir Begovic in the index.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

To those shipping out Bent: I swapped him for Suarez just before a particular fixture at Goodison last season...

Bent, if you have him, is not a one night stand but a long term commitment (particularly with the new BP system). I then proceeded to watch Pool batter teams and Suarez pick up diddly squat. Sounds familiar?

      Too late, he's gone!!

I do understand whay you are saying, but mcCleish is so defensive I cant see more than 15 goals tops. Also due to lack of assists (yes he got a lucky one already) and lack of involvement in all around play there are just so many better options.
1.5 less for Dzeko does it for me as he is in a much better team, with incredible supply

TCahill, Senderos, Hoolahan, Moses, Brunt, Da Laet can now all be up graded if needs be... even Bent.

Walcott is a good shout - of all the Gooners he seemed to have the most team spirit, sure to be at the spear head of a come back. Remember when Henry left he said it wouldn't affect them - it was time for new players to step up to the fore.

I see there are a lot of posts suggesting that van der Weil has signed for Chelsea. Thought I would point out a couple of things though:

He was in London this weekend to meet some friends, already planned since Ajax played on Friday night - plenty of other players had Saturday off too.

The comment at the bottom of the articles 'according to reports in Holland' is complete nonsense since there hasn't been a peep about this except from them reporting the English rags reports.

and i've also heard its good to save for a double game week? or is this a better opportunity? and just dont want to risk getting several players hurt or suspended or off form and be pretty much screwed!

Well, I think you can get a better idea of starting 11s and perhaps key players - other than having to deal with the speculation (particularly on these boards!)

Double game weeks are of course beneficial. Though it depends which teams - it tends to be the teams that get to the latter stages in Europe that have them and quite often players you'd want playing 180 mins end up getting rested for one of the matches.

There's always a risk of suspensions (particularly if you pick Gooners) or injuries.

Yeah, fair enough. I know one bad GW for them and a good one for me can quickly change things. It's just a little frustrating having people who barely follow football picking names they've heard of and a bunch of fillers beating me by so much so soon.

Is it worth wildcarding to get price-rises in? Like i said, i think my teams pretty decent but getting some extra money would be awesome. Even though i have 2 transfers.

Normally it would but with a lot of players, the lack of price changes will undermine their chance of rising twice before gw4. This season you can't assume you'll make money by WCing. Use it for a major squad change bit don't expect to profit.

This season (so far) is perfect for the casual player.
people who forget their teams have unlikely defenders in who get Cs's, then all the obvious players have got big scores.

im resisting the urge to w/c just now, there always comes a point in the season when you hit a brick wall, ie: your normal team have a week where most of your players have really tough games., it happens. its at that point you can ring all the changes you need and get a really good score where others get mediocre scores. thats just how i'm looking at it. theres only gonna be about 3-4 really big risers in this 2 weeks, young rooney nasri & dzeko, not worth losing a w/c for imo.

Hold steady. If this was March/April and someone a few hundred points below you randomly got 30/40 more points than you, you'd barely notice. Just because that's happening early doesn't mean the casuals won't slip back over time.

really questioning my FPL ability with the decision to choose torres. did i seriously pay 11m for a player who has only scored 1 goal for the club? did i also actually base my decision on the fact he looked dangerous despite not scoring or having a decent chance? the answer is yes i did. what was i thinking.

Damn...bought Aguero quickly after Torres was due to drop to 10.9 and thus preventing me from buying him.
Then Dzeko goes and scores 4....and going to rise in price....damn!
Would make another trade but i already have Rooney and Suarez and they've both increased also.

I think the FFS site has been a bit of a hindrance this year - so much advice and so many sheep with the same teams. This is highlighted to me by the fact that the highest scorer in the FFS league has 174 points while my mates girlfriend tops my 15 man mini-league with 208. I've got 164 so am doing ok in FFS terms but crap in my mini-league of half Man-U fans who always captain Rooney. I'm just glad I didn't climb aboard the Torres train and got Dzeko in last week!

Yep, I've wildcarded. Why? 36 points GW3 playing the fixturesa real kick in the doughnuts.

Yes, it's knee-jerky, but I it's the element of control over my team over the next 2 weeks which is appealing. Try and make some cash, build a team for the next 3/4 GW that has fixtures and form in theier - feels a hellva lot better than staring at my 36 point squad until GW4.

Anyway, rant over. How's this for a knee-jerk team:

    Vorm/Ruddy

    Briggs/Brown/Simpson/Bosingwa/Ward

    Jarvis/Young/Mata/Silva/Ferguson

    Rooney/Dzeko/Suarez

0.4 in the bank. Hooping to make some cash to upgrade Ruddy/Ferguson. Sound like a plan?

I dont mean to sound harsh but i think sometimes people need to leave their squad a day or so and not just react instantly to a single match. Torres was talked about in ridiculous terms on here just from looking 'sharp' in the first game, people instantly jumped on. The Aguero bandwagon was huge and now all of a sudden people are moaning because they should have got Dzeko in instead. Now i am seeing questions of transferring out Silva for Young, based on the back of a result that will not happen again in the next 50 years.

Sometimes its best just to switch off, grab a cup of tea, and watch Countryfile.....
