The transfer of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal this week has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the new Gunners midfielder. Priced at just 8.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Arteta looks, potentially, a real value for money option this season, bringing a much-needed maturity to the Arsenal playmaker role in light of Cesc Fabregas’ departure to Barcelona.

In today’s Members Article, we delve into the statistics from last season, looking at a variety of factors to ascertain whether they offer a hint at just what Arteta could offer Arsenal –and, of course, Fantasy managers- in the campaign ahead:

What are people's thoughts about Sturridge starting now that his suspension has finished?

He was on fire pre-season, with Terry saying he would have been the first name on AVB's teamsheet were it no for the ban. Drog's knock may help matters as well.

And do you expect Mata to be first choice from now on?

    Thanks.

Thanks chaps. Torres has been so poor, and Drogba potentially injured, I think it makes sense for Sturridge to start. Very tempted to take a punt on him.

RVP and nzogbia or bent and Walcott?

Aston Villa are poor but have easy home fixtures until game week 12, and I want an arsenal top attacker.

At the moment i have both bent and nzogbia.

    Foster, Given

    RVP Suarez Dzeko

IMO Walcott + Rooney would be a better shout than RVP + Young.

After that you could afford to upgrade Kompany to Baines too.

I reckon Mata over Nasri could be a great shout too, slightly risky though admittedly.

upgrade ferguson to someone like derry. Other than that the rest of your team looks good. I would definitely fear not having rooney though, but hopefully rvp will make up for it

Ferguson is only there to save money for the rest of the team. Weakens squad depth, but probably worth it in a year when overall prices are ridiculous compared to the last couple of years.

I was thinking of Rooney, but kept him out for 2 reason. One, fixtures are hard. Two, even though he's been scoring, even against a weak arsenal side, he scored only from set pieces. Especially with hernandez back and rooney playing deeper, that's a worry for a 12 mill striker. Prefer RVP who plays further up front and takes the same amount of set pieces (plus easier fixtures) for that price. Maybe I'm making a huge mistake with rooney, but I don't think he's going to be better than RVP for the next 6-8 weeks.

you are making a huuuge mistake with rooney, captained him 3 weeks on the trot and he has always delivered...you should wait and see with rvp and see how arsenal do in the next game esp with a brand new team...rooney is playing far to fine in the new man u setup to dismiss and he scored internationals...the guy is on FIRE

    balanced for next gameweek?

gone for the sheep players upfront and midfield, currently top of my league so no need to take massive risks

    Krul (Vorm)

Bosingwa De Laet Enrique (Ward Taylor)

    Arteta Young Silva Cabaye (Dyer)

    Rooney Dzeko Suarez

Is dzeko that much of rotation risk? my thinking is if he doesn't play, ward/dyer will come in and the rest of my team is strong enough to support his lack of. I think his value is fantastic considering him form (bought for 8.5) Also thinking I can keep vorm as my main keepie and get ruddy in to free up more cash to upgrade where needed in future weeks

Dzeko is a rotation risk - but no more than anyone else in that team I don't think. He is lucky that there isn't anyone else in the team who is similar really. Unlike Tevez/Aguero and Nasri/Silva.

Rotation is something everyone will have to deal with for City players I guess, Dzeko still looks good value despite that if he can keep up this form.

I think a Vorm Ruddy combination is asking for trouble to be honest. You won't want to spend a precious transfer to swap a GK, there will always be far more pressing trades to be made.

Rest of the squad looks strong. I can't see Mancini resting Dzeko to be honest, the form that he's in.

depends if the rest of arsenal start gaining form, when arsenal is in form, van persie is in super form

look what happens when he plays for holland...he's the kind of player that when he starts to support a weak team, it has a negative impact on his goal threat...he looks for goals wherever he can find them and if he's not meant to do anything else he will deliver.

i hope that arteta and having mertesacker in the back will make the team solid enough for him to be on top form again.

There's no such thing as 'too much team X' unless you're taking a punt on a team. Can you have too much United? Chelsea? City?

In the case of Arsenal, potentially risky, but I would back RvP and only consider Arteta a 'risk'.

leaving dyer and young, got 19.8 for 3 mids,
who would be good choices for the upcoming weeks?

i would say switch de gea for given

then u can have brunt cabaye and silva...sorted

              play them with young

so your final playing team should look like

              given

              richards bosingwa enrique

              young silva brunt cabaye

              rooney dzeko suarez

                not sure about cabaye,
and man u will get more clean sheets than vila??
got city cover with Dzeko, and ive put arteta in to have some arsenal cover
so if i do this ive got
Young Brunt Arteta and 6.3 for a mid

Compared to mine its not that different.
I in the Mid I have Walcott instead of Jarvis and Dzeko instead of RVP.
                  Silva instead of Nasri...

                  Your defence also looks stronger.

I like it I just hate WC because I want to submit and not look at it again.

The main thing about this game I've realised is that you need not to worry about who you don't have and just focus on who you do have. Out of the players you listed only Suarez is a long term threat and you have three good strikers anyway, so just focus on how they're doing.

Aye, there's probably about 20+ players everyone has said are must-haves and most of them will be outfield players. Considering we can only have 13 outfield players on the pitch, we clearly can't have them all.

                Current thinking is:

                Krul (Vorm)

                Santos/Mertesacker - Bosingwa - Brown/Hutton

Silva - Bale - Jarvis - Hoolahan (Dyer)

                Rooney - RVP - Suarez

Not sure on the defensive combinations and there's an issue of 0.1 in the midfield which means I may have to start with Silva or get rid of Jarvis, but I'm working on it xD

May also go for Dempsey over Bale and have Mertersacker and Brown.

      midfield sucks imo.

i have anderson currently but purely hoping to squeeze .1 out of him; don't think he'll have big returns over the course of the season.

also way too much on defence, unless you plan on playing all 4 of your starters every week, and if you are then i don't think you're going to be rewarded with floods of cleansheets.

Looks OK if you are going to go 4-3-3. However, I would look to beef up your midfield a bit. Maybe downgrade Enrique and Ward to rotating 4.0 defenders (Taylor / De Laet / Simpsn). I think you could then stretch to Arteta for Arsenal coverage.

Thanks, but still leaves me 0.4 short of Arteta... maybe should i downgrade given?

Downgrading keeper is an idea. I would go with Krul though.

If you really beleive that Wolves will continue in this form. Otherwise Krul is a decent shout.

ugh can shoehorn van persie in (for suarez), but would leave me with 9 points to play with in midfield, 9.1 if i get a second rise out of ashley young.

    which means adam.

    so; walcott/suarez/enrique
    or adam/rvp/simpson

i feel like A gives me more tactical flexibility (i'd have like 1.5 cash in the bank), but b MAY return more points in the short-term, with the accompanying risk of it all going horribly wrong.

Oh i see you dont want rvp and walcott, fair point.

I would stick with A then, even though i dont really like Suarez

don't want 2 arsenal players, and if i do that, then to go walcott > mata/silva/young/nani i'd have to take a hit.

(other big money players = nasri/dzeko/rooney).

RVP/Adam could work very nicely. Not sure it's worth leaving 1.5 in the bank, just build as good a team possible now and it'll be flexible anyway.
