With the August transfer window now firmly closed, the thirty-two clubs participating in this season’s Champions League have subsequently entered their official squads to UEFA.

The tournament kicks off on Tuesday September 13 – that’s a week today – and Fantasy managers will be pleased to know they have the option of another game to test their managerial abilities – the UEFA Fantasy Champions League has opened for business, allowing you to consider the merits of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and, of course, Alberto Aquilani for your fifteen-man squads.

This season we will not only be re-opening the Scout League (code: 212-74) for another title tilt but will be setting aside the regular Scout cap and donning a beret, fedora or perhaps even a Ushanka in order to provide coverage of the tournament over the course of this season. Whether it’s the continental glamour tie of Barcelona vs Milan or the perhaps slightly less appealing APOEL vs Zenit, every game will get some level of mention with player picks thrown in as we go.

Keep your eyes peeled across these here pages in the days to come for more information, then, but for now, let us begin tinkering with our new squads and relish the joys of being able to line up Wayne Rooney and co alongside our favourite players from La Liga, the Bundesliga and beyond.

Phew. Finally. That took long enough. I've been waiting for FCL to go live for the past two weeks.

Really glad that FFS is covering FCL as well as FPL, the help from here was probably what I missed last season.

P.S. My decision to go without Young (on wildcard) is looking rather grim at the moment. 🙁

    Having a mental battle here

I have R Taylor Walcott and Suarez

do I swap for S Taylor Jarvis and RVP?????

On a wildcard so no points cost

Sounds a reasonable move, especially with doubts over Raylor (rotation) and Walcott (injury).

            No.

We are done. And a quick scanning down of comments would show it was not to do with the group more to do with a realization of how poor we are - which hasnt changed.

My exact comment to Garg when he asked what i meant

            "Gargamel says:

            How is that you gone?

            Reply
            Dbronaldo says:

More a confirmation of our limitations and time to face the side is well past it."

Slovakia messing things up doesnt take away from us being very poor and not being able to do anything ourselves.

I still think you meant gone from qualifying, until proven wrong and then used that as a cover-up. If you wanted to make that point you would have made it in the first comment.

              Paul McGrath.

High praise indeed. I think you're looking alright if a bit dull, solid at the back anyway. Look at Greece, they were shit in terms of individual talent but functioned very well as a defensive unit. Trapp is building the same dull yet effective side.

Yes but they still at an excellent midfield in Karagounis , Basinas . the dude who was young with a really long name and a decent striker who could put the ball in the net.

But i see what your getting at. Its terrible football though which isnt even bring results.

I always chuckle when I read the word 'exasperated' - I find it quite pretentious 😛

Probably because I used to work with a guy that littered his documents with the word to make himself sound smart.

Nice little write up. Cabaye and Ba should be good fantasy options, but probably not better than other options in their price ranges.

Think they've changed the rules again this year... You don't need to double your NTI to rise twice. Pretty annoying for all of us that haven't WC'd....,

I know I could have gained an extra 1.5 team value or so had I wildcarded earlier but is it still worth it? My team is in tatters and surely sorting it out is the most important thing?
    Team is:
    Given Ruddy
    KOMPANY Senderos Enrique Simpson Brown
    SILVA Sessegnon Sinclair N'Zogbia Moses
    ROONEY SUAREZ Torres
CAPITALS means I'd keep this player in a wildcard.
Wanting to change 11/15 players means it must be worth it right?

You'll probably also be able to keep
      Given
      Enrique/Simpson/Brown
      Sinclair

So that's Sess, N'Zogbia, Moses and Torres out.

Do you have transfers that you can use?

Torres to Dzeko and N'Zogbia to Arteta for a 4 point hit wouldn't be the worst idea.

Comment from the Guardian MBM that amused me:

"I like the fact (as an Aston Villa fan) that Young and Downing are now world class after less than two months at 'big 4 clubs'," cuts Bryan Jones. "Must be a crash course as according to the press they were rubbish before, and Theo Walcott and Aaron Lennon were the future."

    WC team of

    Given
    Baines, Komp, Bosingwa
    Hunt, Anderson, Young, Silva
    Long, Dzeko, Rooney
    Subs: Vorm, Simpson, tiote, delaet

Got .6 in bank, considering taking out baines to bring in RVP for dzeko or walkcott for hunt/ anderson

    Thoughts boys?

      RvP all day, every day.

If Arsenal do destroy anyone, he'll be a massive part of it. If they sneak a goal, its likely to be his. Walcott you're looking to get 1 out 3 goals Arsenal score.

Right I have had a crap start to the season, and I am normally pretty good at this.....so I have got a few diamonds in the rough who I think might exceed expectations over the next few weeks....

    BENAYOUN
    RVP
    TARRAABT
    TEVEZ

RvP would need to score and assist his own hattrick to exceed expectations...

Benayoun will barely play. Taarabt will be interesting to see, and Tevez, well let's see if he gets on the field first.

Considering that O Neil had an International side at his disposal at Villa and sold some who have proved him wrong - Cahill. Find it strang he is not mentioned at all with Young , Milner, Downing , Cahill playing and his record being questioned.

Find it odd not one Journo or broadcaster when mentioning how well all these former villa players are doing is not questioning why they didnt play this way under O Neil. And also why he sold Cahill or his record in generally and how he was always harping on about not being able to compete.
Doesnt look good on Houlleir either mind.
