The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game has now been updated with Bonus Points from the weekend’s nine games. While they may, of course be subject to change as they review any contentious decisions, the initial allocation as of this morning reads as follows:

Arsenal vs Swansea
Gibbs 3, Sagna 2, Arshavin 1

Arsenal’s full-backs pick up the bonus plaudits – evidence again that the new FPL bonus system is looking kindly on full-backs who are heavily involved in the play this season. Andrei Arshavin picks up the additional point with debutant Per Mertesacker ranking next in the PPI for Arsenal. Ashley Williams was the visitors top scoring PPI performer, ranking seventh overall in this match.

Fulham vs Blackburn
Rochina 3, Murphy 2, Zamora 1

Rovers earned a hard-fought point and had their man atop the PPI rankings – Ruben Rochina was the recipient of the three bonus points courtesy of his opening goal in the Craven Cottage clash. Danny Murphy’s assist and overall influence in the middle of park saw him fetch the two, while Fulham’s goalscorer, Bobby Zamora, picked up the remaining single point. Blackburn’s Michel Salgado, Scott Dann and Mauro Formica all ranked next in the PPI scores.

Norwich vs West Brom
Odemwingie 3, Shorey 2, Foster 1

Peter Odemwingie returns in style with the winning goal and a maximum bonus-fetching performance at Carrow Road. Nicky Shorey’s willingness down the left-flank and his assist for the goal earns him recognition, with keeper Ben Foster also getting in on the act. Centre-backs Jonas Olsson and Gabriel Tamas just missed out on bonus themselves with impressive PPI returns, while Marc Tierney was Norwich’s top performer.

Bolton vs Man United
Rooney 3, Hernandez 2, Nani 1

No real surprises here, although Phil Jones is perhaps unlucky to miss out on bonus recognition given his fine performance and assist contribution. Wayne Rooney continues to harvest up bonus points, Javier Hernandez also gained the first of what could many supplementary points this season. Ivan Klasnic was, once again, Bolton’s highest ranked PPI scorer.

Everton vs Aston Villa
Petrov 3, Osman 2, Baines 1

Stiliyan Petrov’s fine curling effort helps earn him maximum bonus points for visitors Villa with Everton’s scorers, Leon Osman and Leighton Baines also picking up rewards. Gabriel Agbonlahor and Stephen Warnock was also ranked highly in this one, with Tim Cahill the home side’s next big PPI scorer.

Man City vs Wigan
Aguero 3, Kompany 2, Silva 1

Not surprisingly, City dominated the PPI scoring in this one with Aguero again recording an impressive PPI tally to fetch the maximum bonus. Vincent Kompany continues to represent the most likely source of bonus in the City back four – in contrast to last season – he earned the two bonus ahead of David Silva who picked up the scraps. Gary Caldwell was the highest rank PPI performer for the Latics behind almost the entire City lineup.

Stoke vs Liverpool
Begovic 3, Walters 2, Upson 1

Stoke’s stopper Asmir Begovic collects his second 3 point bonus haul of the season as Tony Pulis’ side kept another clean sheet at home to Liverpool. Jon Walters’ spot-kick winner helped him to the two, whille Matt Upson put up a resolute barrier alongside Ryan Shawcross and earned the remaining point. Stoke dominated the PPI rankings here with Jose Enrique Liverpool’s top PPI performer – ranking behind the entire starting eleven for the home side.

Sunderland vs Chelsea
Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Ramires 1

John Terry’s opener and his significant defensive presence throughout helped him earn the maximum from Chelsea’s away win. Daniel Sturridge needed just 63 minutes on the pitch to fetch his first two bonus points of the season, while Ramires got in on the act for the single point. The visitors dominated the rankings overall with Jack Colback rated as Sunderland’s best performer.

Wolves vs Tottenham
Defoe 3, Adebayor 2, Parker 1

Jermain Defoe’s return to the scoresheet also helped him gather the maximum bonus ahead of debutant and fellow goalscorer Emmanuel Adebayor. Scott Paker’s assist and performance in midfield steered him to pick up the remainder. Jamie O’Hara was the top PPI performer for the beaten hosts.

Also is anyone else holding off Silva? He's brilliant but he can't keep his form forever and when all the cups kick in, he's gonna be a rotation risk imo. Not to mention he'll be at 10 value soon enough and with so many good attacking players at Man City, points will be shared amongst them and they arn't gonna be winning with 4+ goals every week.

Seems to be about right. It just seems he's getting to be getting a bit a expensive to offer any real balance and with Mancini being so unpredictable with who he drops. I think only Kompany and Yaya will play 95% of the games this season.

He may well be a rotation, as with all city attackers, but he is utter quality and will keep up this brilliant for the majority of the season I'm sure.

I think he's one of the best players in the league and he oozes plenty of class. I just see that once they've proved the backbone of the team and the majority of their players casn play at a consistant level, Silva and Nasri will be dropped for the squad players against the lower teams whilst they prepare for a CL match.

Wow I didn't think anyone had lower than ne, not on here anyway. I'm on 162. I sort of feel that I'm way too far behind already. I know it's early, but it seems like there's no way to catch up.

Plus you need to get the same inform players as the people who are doing well, which makes it even harder to catch up as you get the same points. Budget differentials are going to be very important.

I'm on 162. Basically not having Rooney and ballsing up my captain each week has done me.

Think my captains have scored 7 points in total (doubled to 14, wow), while my VCs have scored 34.

Ok im needing a defender who's playing at home GW5 GW7 & GW10 which narrows its down to

Everton (WIG LIV MUN) - Distin
Spurs (LIV ARS QPR) - Walker/Assou-Ekoto
Sunderland (STK WBA VIL) - Brown
Swansea (WBA STK BOL) - Taylor? I dont know much about swanseas defence but he's scored the most out the 4.

I'm swaying towards Brown, but i already have bardsely so doubling on SUN could be dodgy especially after their rocky start.

    Well what a crap week.
    RVP capt never ever again.
Rooney is getting the armband back and keeping it until the end of the season no matter what the opposition.
RVP will get one more week.
Got Silva but would really like to bring in a city forward but who is guaranteed a game with all other commitments.
I'm already 50pts off the pace in my mini league but was more than that at Christmas last year and ended up winning by over 100 so long way to go....
Brunt just isn't doing it so straight swap for Walters this week looks like the move for me....

Think I'll keep Brunt for another week and see how it pans out
Might actually have to get Kompany
Would have been a solid week if I'd captained Silva or Chicha

Dropping Rooney hasn't really bit me on the arse, or at least it shouldn't have had I made the right captain choice.

My one grip with the captaincy thing is that a captain can completely change a GW (yes I don't have Rooney).

So I have Baines, Kompany, Silva, Sturridge in my team all scoring well and getting me points (capt: RvP - that's another story) total 46 points (47 when Ward comes off the bench). A rival get 57 points because he captained Rooney, and other than Silva he had no-one scoring more than 2 points except Young and his 3.

So I split 24 points over 3 players, and he gets 17 from 1 (his captain) and he out performs me significantly. I know its how the game works, and when my captain works out I get to laugh etc. But its amazing that picking a team isn't as important as picking the captain.

Just my half-rant for the day.

Anyone else think Dzeko rotation risk is being overstated on here? It was a combination of the intl break (the fact he played many more minutes than tevez and aguero) and the fact napoli is on weds. The first factor is an unusual one. I think Dzeko will play the majority of games.

The fact is with the CL Dzeko Aguero Tevez Silva & Nasri will not play every game, fact! You just have to deal with it, the best u can hope for is them not playing any part and getting a sub in, unless they come in and score of course! This is why I think u need 15 players who will most likely start, thats why I don't see the point in Ferguson.

68 points and 38 points off the top 2 in my mini-league already. Trouble is, i look at their teams and think they are poor. Both of their first seasons playing and whilst they both follow football a decent amount, they are Man United fans who've got miles ahead by captaining Rooney every week whilst i've tried to strategically sort my team. Surely they won't continue like this and as soon as Man Uniteds and Citys form slows down (surely they both arn't gonna score as many as the have been every week), the tripling up on their players will hurt them. I hope so anyway.

100 points is nothing this early on, just keep plugging away and I guarentee you will catch up. I was 100 points behind my leader in January and still managed to beat him. People who are currently top of my leagues have not got a clue and are just lucky with their captain choices. They'll struggle when the likes of Rooney dips in form and double gameweeks start.

I've been about 150 behind in mid-December before and won the league by over 100. Things can change very quickly, but it's just annoying seeing them pull away by 20-30 points week on week so far.

I am in EXACTLY the same position. Getting battered by 2 united fans who both have 3 United and 3 City players, and know little about football.

Either th emore balanced teams will catch up as the season goes on....

... or the Prem goes the same way as la liga and SPL.

Is everyone captaining Rooney again this week? I didn't this week but I'm still not sure I want to this week, I think the Chelsea game will be a tough one for them, I could see he him sneaking one but I fancy maybe going for Dzeko. Fulham I thought were a bit crap yesterday against a crap side, the way City are playing I think they could rip them apart like they did at the Cottage last year.

I went with that logic last season and he didn't score one goal. Blackburn are pretty tight at home and no doubt Dann will have a blinder after we turned down the chance to sign him. Im just at a bit of a loss this season, i have a good team but am getting screwed over by captain choices. Just going to stick with RVP for the 2nd week and hope for a goal.

RVP does always score has a good record against Blackburn 🙂

I'm the same, looking at about 70 point deficit already. Rooney last week was my only decent captain choice. I'm trying to look at it from the other point of view that can I can throw in some differentials soon to try and keep up, I've generally always led so just needed to pick the big guns.

"I'm not sure how anyone can't captain Rooney at the moment..."

Or words to that effect! I can't take it off him, not until I get at least 2 weeks of no returns, it's foolish to captain anyone else now.

Obviously there are Champs League games to view first, but it is hard to not think of giving the armband to Rooney this week. Away at Stoke the week after though? That may be another story. Having said that, Liverpool should have put a few past them looking at the highlights. A bit of a misleading score that one.

Really would love to give the armband to RVP at Blakburn, but may wait one more week to brace mtyself for that disappointment again!

I think I'm just going to leave the band on Rooney and not bother making changes-doesn't seem to do anyone else in some of my leagues any harm.

For everyone that still thinks it's all about fixtures over form only need look at the Bolton game for that myth to be put to bed.

I'm still fuming with myself over buying into the Arsenal hype. I don't even like any of their players. RVP looks a shadow of himself compared to last season already.

35 with 4 coming off of my bench. Horrible GW and slipped over 300k in the rankings before tonight's game.

Lads I played a really rash wildcard last night, literally felt the 'rush of blood to the head' cliche after pressing it. Is there any way on this new site I can check I played the wildcard and will not be paying in points hits? It says the wildcard is still 'available' on the My Team page.

Personally, I think that those who have been averaging 45-50 thus far shouldn't be too worried, even if you're 100 points off the leader in your mini-leagues. Those who are at the top are mainly those who have vague knowledge about EPL, and captain the likes of Rooney and Aguero week in week out.

So far, playing the fixtures has resulted in limited points, but I personally believe that over the length of the season, those who play the fixtures will eventually be rewarded, especially when the Manchesters start rotating their players and just play for the 3 points, rather than to smash teams week-in week-out.

Just my reassurance to those who have had a bad start (like me - 194 points in total so far!)

    Any advice much appreciated...

    Given/Ruddy
    Baines/Kompany/Enrique/Brown/S Taylor
    Young/Sessegnon/O'Hara/Brunt/Sinclair
    RVP/Bent/Holt

    £0.9m in the bank.

Don't think I will make a transfer this week as I can make a team with decent home fixtures and out of the big teams, United play Chelsea, City are away at Fulham and Spurs play Liverpool, so doesn't make too much sense to get any more of their players this week and have 2 frees for the week after.

The week after I will probably look to make 3 changes for a 4pt hit...Baines out to free up cash (+ tough fixtures) and then probably 2 of my midfield out as they are underperforming.

My question is I guess, who should I look to get in in midfield and which 2 should I get rid of? (Keeping Young)

Assuming prices stay similar and I replace Baines with a £5m defender, I'll have about £16m to spend on 2 players in midfield.

    What combinations look good?

All of your midfield could still do decent and it's hard to say who to get rid of. Sessegnon is the obvious choice but his next fixtures are great. O'Hara looked good against Tottenham, Brunt despite not getting many minutes in the most recent game has been made captain and will be on pens. Sinclair i think will get decent returns throughout the season but never be a big point getter.
