Yesterday’s two games featured four teams yet to record a single victory between them in the three August Gameweeks. By the end of the day, West Brom were the only ones to break their duck, with returning talisman Peter Odemwingie making the difference at Norwich. Fulham were held to a draw by Blackburn, as under-fire boss Steve Kean finally picked up a point in the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage. Here’s some notes on yesterday’s games:

Odemwingie Returns

Peter Odemwingie wasted no time in serving Fantasy managers a reminder of his potential yesterday afternoon. The Nigerian, making his first start of the season due to an ankle injury, scored the only goal of the game at Carrow Road yesterday, slotting home after a defensive mix-up involving Ritchie Da Laet and stand-in keeper Declan Rudd. Odemwingie may have missed a penalty but he was a threat throughout and has walked away with all 3 Bonus Points this morning. With (swa, FUL, sun, WOL) in his next four, Odemwingie looks set to carry on from his brilliant form of last season as the Baggies finally begin to flourish.

Canaries Crumble

Norwich were the masters of their own downfall at Carrow Road. A mix-up between Ritchie De Laet and stand-in keeper Declan Rudd provided West Brom with the chance to clinch the match and means Norwich have yet to chalk up a clean sheet this season. At the other end of the pitch, Paul Lambert will be more than unhappy his side were unable to find the net- the Baggies had picked up two clean sheets last term and had conceded in every game so far in this season- to draw a blank at home is a worrying sign.

Zamora Overshadows Ruiz

Martin Jol paired his big-money buy Bryan Ruiz with Bobby Zamora for the home clash with Blackburn, as the latter returned from injury. The move saw Clint Dempsey shifted into left midfield and end his stint as an attacker but while Zamora grabbed Fulham’s goals in the 1-1 draw, Ruiz seemed overwhelmed by the game’s frantic nature and was withdrawn at half-time as a result. The introduction of Moussa Dembele gave the Cottagers a more solid look and they were more than a little unlucky not to bag three points against a poor Blackburn side.

Dann Adds Solidity

Scott Dann made his debut for Blackburn at Craven Cottage, partnering Chris Samba at the heart of the back-four. Samba’s half-time withdrawal due to a back problem saw Gael Givet slot in alongside Dann at centre half and the new boy was impressive in both halves, helping Rovers address a poor away record that had seen them average two goals against per away game last term. Having already conceded three in their one away match this season, Dann’s presence helped steady the ship and restrict Fulham to just one goal, as Steve Kean’s side picked up their first point of the season.

Do folks think there'll be a mass exodus of Dzeko ownership this week given the uncertainty over his place in the side?? Still got good fixtures if he plays though...

Patience guys. WCing now is probably a bad idea unless you don't have Rooney.

Look at your team, look at your team for this week, consider replacing someone who has a run of bad fixtures and/or is dropping in price and replacing him with someone gaining form, going up in price and starting a run of easy fixtures.

It's simple really. Just watch players' prices carefully, try to have a good team to play every week, and stay on top of the form players.

Like the idea of a Stoke defender, they're solid this year. But bonus boy Begovic is the one catching my eye at the moment though.

Anderson seems a solid bet until the cheaper fantasy talent starts revealing itself. We still don't really know where the value lies yet, with Sinclair/Taarabt/Hoolahan/Moses & co. all yet to deliver...

Greetings folks. Which one of these three do you reckon I should plump for??...

    1) Odemwingie £7.4m : swa FUL sun WOL avl LIV ars
    2) Agbonlahor £6.5m : NEW qpr WIG mct WBA sun NOR
    3) Sturridge £6.5m : mut SWA bol EVE qpr ARS bbr

My preference is probably for Odemwingie, although Agbonlahor seems to have the best fixtures (but isn't helped by McLeish's defensive outlook). Keen too on Sturridge but the threat of rotation weighs heavily on my mind.

Just wondered what you all thought and who you might recommend??? Thanks...

I think it has to be Odemwingie. Although I'm not entirely sure whether he's better value than Long. I'd genuinely expect Long to score more goals than Odemwingie because he'll be the one who stays central, with Odemwingie drifting around to the flanks more. Plus Odemwingie surely won't have penalties any more.

I would say Gabby. He is proven fantasy player: 144, 158, 146, 146 points in 4 from last 5 seasons. He'll surely get u the points and he is dirty cheap for those kind of points.

Apparently so, but it was definitely the better move for his career to go to Stoke. He'd just be rotting into another Turnbull if he was at Chelsea.

Anyway, we've got Courtois now. He looks a serious keeper.

Can anyone see anything majorly wrong with my starting line up from the weekend? I have stated my reasons for their selection. Obviously I have went big in attack which gives a cheap defence.

Vorm v ARS (save points, especially if arsenal go mental)

Bosingwa v SUN (attacking+ c/s potential, bonus, against a toothless out of sorts sunderland)

S.Taylor v QPR (tonight) (attacking+ c/s potential, bonus, newc have tightened up at the back, QPR are raw, only 1 goal so far)

R.DeLaet v WBA (attacking potential, bonus, chance of c/s)

S.Ward v TOT (attacking potential, bonus, chance of c/s, wolves playing well and tightened up at the back)

M.Arteta v SWA (centrally located feeding RVP, bonus, assist potential, plus goal threat)

A.Young v BOL (on fire, vs dodgy bolton defence, bonus, assist and goal threat)

D.Silva v (Man C full of goals, at the heart of all things good, bonus, assists, chance of goal)

Dzeko v WIG (Thought he'd play as furthest up forward with tevez, another 4 goal blitz too hard to ignore against wigan, possible steamrolling)

RVP (c)v SWA (If arsenal have goal blitz, bonus hogg, he's sure to get a few, scored 4 thru the week, bonus, pens etc)

Rooney vc) v BOL (Form, goal threat, bonus, pens, against poor bolton defence, toss up between rooney and rvp captain, thought bolton would have put up more of a fight, worried hernandez might take some of the chances away from him, so went with rvp captain)

I just hope it's not a right anti-climax and the MULTI million pound player was some PL journeyman who moved for a couple of bob past seven figures. Luke Young or Alan Hutton or similar would be disappointing, quietly hope it's a totally unexpected big fish like Nasri or someone.

FPL should hurry up and clarify the assist rules. They got a get out of jail card this time as the Walcott shot took a massive deflection outside the area even before it reached the keeper. They need to put words on the obvious things such as that an attack ends when the keeper collects the ball.

I think it worked good too, but they probably got BOMBARDED with e-mails saying they were fk**** cu*** who **** ****ing of them******selves, and then thought they should get more technical rule.

Unfortunately they messed it up to a never before seen extent.

guess it's the same with the bonus, all the fk**** cu*** who **** ****ing of them******selves 😉 so tried to find a more objective solution.
i really miss rbj's templates. he would basically say 'here it is guys, copy and paste this and email it to them.'

There's so many more stupid ways for assists to be claimed too.

the rule is clear, according to the rules no assist. the assist ended when his shot was deflected outside the area, changing its intended destination.

They happen generally overnight UK time, something like 1-3am, usually but not always.

There may have been a few early season blips this time round given the tech problems the new site has caused, so I would imagine now that these have largely been sorted out some consistent timeframe will endure.

It's usually been 7am or 8am GMT this year according to FISO. At least it is when they don't forget to do the price rises/falls at all as has happened several times already...

*It was 5am just to add to the randomness of it all

Ok so as suspected Dzeko didnt play this weekend. Is this going to be a regular thing for Man City prem games? Does this mean Aguerro wont be playing in the Champs league??

    Confused!

Mancini does that to FPL players, confuses the hell out of them because he has such an array of riches across his squad. I don't believe any player, even Silva, is free from rotation risk.

I have the same problem. I guess we'll find out this week.

For some reason I have the nagging feeling - or is that desperate hope? - that Citeh will play Balotelli and Tevez together this week in Champions League pairing Dzeko and Aguero back together at the weekend

I dont think there will be set players for CL and set players for Prem, i think they will all be rotated at some stage

Cheers. Ill hold onto him for now then - made a cheeky .2m out of him warming my bench so far!

Meireles looked quite good at the weekend. Could be a cheap shout for after the Man U game as Chelsea coverage??

Balotelli is banned for CL. And they would not rest Dzeko and then not play him in the most important game in their recent history.
