Yesterdayโ€™s two games featured four teams yet to record a single victory between them in the three August Gameweeks. By the end of the day, West Brom were the only ones to break their duck, with returning talisman Peter Odemwingie making the difference at Norwich. Fulham were held to a draw by Blackburn, as under-fire boss Steve Kean finally picked up a point in the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage. Hereโ€™s some notes on yesterdayโ€™s games:

Odemwingie Returns

Peter Odemwingie wasted no time in serving Fantasy managers a reminder of his potential yesterday afternoon. The Nigerian, making his first start of the season due to an ankle injury, scored the only goal of the game at Carrow Road yesterday, slotting home after a defensive mix-up involving Ritchie Da Laet and stand-in keeper Declan Rudd. Odemwingie may have missed a penalty but he was a threat throughout and has walked away with all 3 Bonus Points this morning. With (swa, FUL, sun, WOL) in his next four, Odemwingie looks set to carry on from his brilliant form of last season as the Baggies finally begin to flourish.

Canaries Crumble

Norwich were the masters of their own downfall at Carrow Road. A mix-up between Ritchie De Laet and stand-in keeper Declan Rudd provided West Brom with the chance to clinch the match and means Norwich have yet to chalk up a clean sheet this season. At the other end of the pitch, Paul Lambert will be more than unhappy his side were unable to find the net- the Baggies had picked up two clean sheets last term and had conceded in every game so far in this season- to draw a blank at home is a worrying sign.

Zamora Overshadows Ruiz

Martin Jol paired his big-money buy Bryan Ruiz with Bobby Zamora for the home clash with Blackburn, as the latter returned from injury. The move saw Clint Dempsey shifted into left midfield and end his stint as an attacker but while Zamora grabbed Fulhamโ€™s goals in the 1-1 draw, Ruiz seemed overwhelmed by the gameโ€™s frantic nature and was withdrawn at half-time as a result. The introduction of Moussa Dembele gave the Cottagers a more solid look and they were more than a little unlucky not to bag three points against a poor Blackburn side.

Dann Adds Solidity

Scott Dann made his debut for Blackburn at Craven Cottage, partnering Chris Samba at the heart of the back-four. Sambaโ€™s half-time withdrawal due to a back problem saw Gael Givet slot in alongside Dann at centre half and the new boy was impressive in both halves, helping Rovers address a poor away record that had seen them average two goals against per away game last term. Having already conceded three in their one away match this season, Dannโ€™s presence helped steady the ship and restrict Fulham to just one goal, as Steve Keanโ€™s side picked up their first point of the season.

Mad to gamble on Phil Jones?
Nice price and seems to be starting potential across the backline.

Isnt Evans injured now and besides his form and fergie backing youth and form players should mean he stays?

Have a feeling Fergie will back him like rafeal last year given his form. Maybe he aint such a rotation risk.

I'd say Bendtner is just ridiculously over-selfconfident rather than arrogant. Arrogance is rubbing other people's faces in it (Ronaldo does this) whereas Bendtner just reckons he's better than he is. Maybe if he was more Latino than Scandinavian then he'd be more arrogant.

Oh come on, 25% of the posters here are Manchester United fans, surely you can help us out better than this?

Do you see Phil Jones as a stopgap only or as someone who even if he doesn't play EVERY game might be decent at 5.5m? Big bonus to me that he's done well as RB a game now too, and history suggests that the third choice centre backs at United gets plenty of gametime. Rio is a crock and Vidic has similar tendencies.

What makes him so arrogant btw? ๐Ÿ™‚

With people like Jonny Evans in the past, you'd get him in when Rio or Vidic were out, then get rid once they're back. And he was only 4.5m.

Jones will probably play 60-70% of games, personally I'd want a bit more security for 5.5m.

Ya but given his form and ability to play both right back and full back it would give more security than say Evans last year.

Add in Rio getting injured every now and then and you could say he is close to a first teamer now.

          Especially with his form

If you accept that he'll be benched now and then, and that it won't be predictable when he's benched, then he's a decent choice.

For me, defenders (especially 5.5 defenders) being randomly benched is one of the most annoying things in FPL - I like to set up my defence and leave it as much as possible, and tinker with the mids and forwards.

Point is, you can't be raging on someone for perceived arrogance when you celebrate the most arrogant player on the planet in your name! That's called hypocrisy in my book. It's because he's english, and a defender (like JT), and DB considers the english to be arrogant. #FreudAP

        Thinking of wildcarding to this:

Vorm Ruddy - boring and solidish
Jones ( risk worth it) Bos,Warnock,Kompany,Simpson
Young ( as nani maybe rotated),Nasri,Walcott,Petrov,Dyer
Rooney,Dzeko, Sturridge - big risk ,not much to lose if it fails

    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany, Enrique, Brown (Simpson, Hughes)
    Nani, Walcott, Brunt, Barton (Moses)
    RVP, Dzeko, Suarez

0.4 in the bank. Current plan is to stick with this for GW5 to build up 2 free transfers for the first time this season. Way behind in my leagues but my luck will surely improve. Anyone see any transfers worth making this week?

Some good advice I got from RBJ was that if you plan on setting up more than 1 betting account, don't set them up from your main bank account - if you want to get a mortgage or loan from that bank, it doesn't look great to have lots of payments to betting sites...

I really hate the way Rooney has single handedly wrecked fanrtasy football this season so far, there are two types of player this year, those with the folically challenged one and those without. The thing I can't decide is whether to stick with RVP againsta shocking Blackburn team or go bite the bullet and bring in Shrek for the Chelsea game, anyone else in the same prediciment?

RVP's fixtures are great but if they can't comfortably put Swansea away you have to question whether the days of RVP pulling in enormous fantasy hauls are gone for good.

Rooney on the other hand is at the centre of a United team who look like they could put several past anybody. I'm in the exact same boat as you. Feel it's daft not to stick with RVP for his kind run, but I'm running the risk of Rooney being 13 million by the time I finally get him in. It's tough.

Guys, I think it lunacy to be paying 8m for Baines (who will get goals/assist/baps/ but very few clean sheets when Sturrige (providing he remains 1st choice) and Agbonlahor cost 6.5m

p.s. I am half decent at this game.

Also, you say provided Sturridge remains first choice...well obviously a 6.5 striker at Chelsea is then good value, but whether he is first choice or not is kind of the point here!

That's an opinion as good as any. I don't agree though.

It should be noted though that if we exclude last season Agbonlahor has consistently scored really well for an FPL player we make so much fun about here.

Thing is I've been stung by that philosophy. I didn't put Silva in because he doesn't really score and that bit me in the ass. Mata is getting in the right places and even takes some set pieces. I don't really want sturridge and mata. And although he's under performing, AVB HAS to give torres a few starts because of his price tag. Then Drogs will be back in 5 or 6 games if not sooner, add anelka into that and Stuuridge doesn't get enough starts to warrant his selection when I alread have Mata.

A lot of hand ringing from the community today re poor scores. But remember those with poor scores this week you are supergods comapred to the newbies who captain rooney and leave it.

Just you wait until ROoney gets injured and the double game weeks happen. You will rise mighty like a fantasy pheonix.

I got 47, which is only just below average and a total of 245, but would have got 17 more if I'd captained Rooney. Ah, what ifs and buts. At least I have that puddin faced rogue. I see the glass half full at the moment and will go into next week with no changes barring injury, ready to take my pick the week after of those boys in light blue.

Clutching at straws but is there any chance Theo could get an assist for Arshavins goal ?!

Possibly, given that Rooney was belatedly awarded an assist for Young's first goal v ARS the other week. But unlikely as it would make a mockery of the notion of 'assists'. He played practically NO role in that goal...

Its probably more ridiculous alrite as Vorm actually caught the ball too! Anyways, wont be captaining Walcott in a hurry again ๐Ÿ™‚

Don't think that answers it, Granville. If they make a ridiculous rule, they have to stick with it to the bitter end.

For me, it's a new phase once Vorm picks it up, and even though it's not mentioned in the rule (as it wasn't last year or any other year), we can take it as given that no assist can span across 2 phases of play.

But every other season, all that was needed to negate an assist was a significant deflection (can't remember the exact wording).

Hi guys, last week couldn't have gone any worse for me, i'm now trailing by 110 points and need a good tip for this GW:

    Vorm (Hilario)
    Enrique Kompany Bosingwa (Briggs, Simpson)
    Taarabt Arteta Silva Brunt (N.Dyer)
    Dezeko Rooney RVP (C)

Have 1 free trade....keep it or any suggestions.
Really need to step it up before i fall even further behind!!

If anything RVP to adders, then use the 4 to upgrade midfield.
