Richard Dunne is full of praise for the new Aston Villa regime. Shaun Wright-Phillips promises QPR fans there’s plenty more to come, while Sir Alex Ferguson reassures Dimitar Berbatov over future game time. Owen Coyle looks to ring the changes ahead of the game with Norwich and Martin Jol admits starting Bryan Ruiz against Blackburn was a big mistake. Here’s some Scribbles for this morning, folks:

Sir Alex Ferguson has promised Dimitar Berbatov he will get his fair share of playing time this season. Fergie rang the changes last night for Man United’s trip to Benfica but chose to play Wayne Rooney as a lone forward, before introducing Javier Hernandez to the proceedings. The Bulgarian was left on the bench throughout but the United boss promised he will feature:

It is hard because of the number of strikers we have. Michael Owen is there, Federico Macheda, Mame Biram Diouf. Danny Welbeck won’t be back next week but probably the week after. It is not easy. Dimitar has been training terrific. His attitude is spot on. He will get his game time as the season wears on. There is no question about that.

Bolton’s Stuart Holden moved another step closer to his return to first-team football last night. The midfielder played 90 minutes for Bolton’s reserves as he recovers from a serious knee injury sustained in March.

Owen Coyle has hinted he’s ready to make a few changes to the Bolton side this weekend. With the Trotters 5-0 home hammering by Man United still fresh in the memory, Coyle is desperate to bounce back in the upcoming home game with Norwich and admitted he may freshen things up, particularly at the back:

We made a few changes against United but time will tell whether we need more. We do have players now we know can step into the breach, so that’s what we’ll look to do.

In an attacking sense we were fine. It was against the ball, and it was rare for us because we are usually good against the ball. We didn’t do that well enough. We have to look at that game and know we can defend better than that.

Steve Kean has been talking up Blackburn new boy Scott Dann. The former Birmingham player made his Rovers debut last weekend at Fulham and his new boss is delighted with the qualities he has brought to the back-line:

Scotty does what it says on the tin. He heads it, he kicks it, he talks, he’s a leader and I think he has got a willingness to win. I thought for his first game for us he was excellent, he showed all the qualities he’s got.

Richard Dunne claims Aston Villa have rediscovered their spirit since the departure of Gerard Houllier. The Irishman was one of a number of Villa players who clashed with Houllier last season and reckons the place is a far better place this term under Alex McLeish.

Last season wasn’t a good one. I didn’t enjoy the season and I didn’t enjoy coming into the place. I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere around the whole club and I think it showed on the weekends.

Coming back and working with a new manager and a different atmosphere has given some people a new lease of life. There is an enthusiasm around the place. I think you can see from the team already that we are not the soft touch who roll over in games that maybe we were last year.

Villa will have to make do without Emile Heskey for the next three weeks or so- the striker suffered a hamstring injury at Everton last weekend. Heskey has started every league game so far for Villa and although Alex McLeish sees his loss as a significant blow, he’s challenged others to step up and grab the opportunity:

Emile’s got a nick in his hamstring and that’s not an overnight job, so it will be a few weeks – two to three, maybe even longer. Whether he’s a quick healer, I don’t know his history. We could ill afford to lose vital members from the squad but it’s a challenge for somebody else.

Shaun Wright-Phillips has promised there’s plenty more to come from him as he edges near match-fitness. The winger has a strong QPR debut on Monday and, speaking to the club’s official website, is filled with confidence for the season ahead:

I feel I am a bit off (the pace) at the moment. I need a few more games under my belt to get my match-fitness and sharpness back. With the team playing the way they did and helping me settle in very quickly, that made it pretty easy.

It’s the first game that we’ve all played together. As long as we keep playing like that and the better we get to know each other, then the better we’re going to do.

Martin Jol has admitted he erred in starting Bryan Ruiz last weekend. The Costa Rican made his first start for Fulham following his big-money move from FC Twente but looked completely ill at ease with the pace of the game and had to be replaced at half time.

In hindsight, I would have started Moussa and then brought him on because he’s good when there’s a lot of pressure on the goal, space in the box, and Bryan Ruiz probably would have given us a lot second half.

It’s always difficult – if you come to the Premier League – your first game. I wouldn’t say it’s a gamble but you have to start somewhere and that was a decision we had to make and I made the decision to play him.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Obertan is better then Guthrie. As for Ben Arfa, word is he'll play behind either Best/Ba/Ameobi in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

    Guys,

    Question for you all 🙂

I'm trying to work on a good team, be it a good defence, or a good attack? Opinions? I've gone with the attack option at present?

    Team as follows:

    Given (Vorm)

Enrique - Upson - Simpson - Brown (Shotton)

Young - Silva - Mata (Dyer) (Ferguson)

    Rooney - Aguero - Adebayor

Got an assist in the UCL on Tuesday... There are shoots of improvement from Arsenal but I'm sure there are a lot of us RVP/Walcott/Arteta owners who need simply Arsenal to put Blackburn to the sword on Saturday.

On the subject of your username though... I can't seem to keep a clean sheet at all on that Fifa 12 demo. You try to contain the opposing players meaning you always stand off them like there is some kind of forcefield around their personal space and then attempt you attempt a tackle and they just waltz past you as you fall over. It is going to take some getting used to...

I will have just 4.5 for defender, think about Berra. I have linked my squad.

Will it be better to keep Arteta and risk to be without fast Mata for 2-3 GW more. Arteta has good fixtures, could score, assist and obviously he will be the new playmaker behind RvP and Gervinho!

I was considering using my wildcard but now my teams looking a lot better for the foreseeable future. Don't need to use a transfer this week, i want to get Adebayor in but Bent fixtures are still decent. What do you think of my team and what would be the best way to use 2 transfers next GW?

    Given, Ruddy
    Brown, Kompany, A.Cole (Wilkinson, Simpson)
    Mata, Arteta, Osman, Dyer (Moses)
    Rooney, Dzeko, Bent

Downgrading A.Cole to someone will leave me able to swap Osman to a bigger hitter now Evertons fixtures get more difficult after this weeks home match against Wigan.

Yeah well i've done that mostly anyway. I don't there's an excuse for building a temporary or crap team and then relying on a wildcard. Even when i have wildcarded it's ended up only being 3-4 transfers for the sake of it because i'm already happy with my team.

if i were you after newcaastle game get bent out for adebayor

I have been picking benty for last few seasons but gabby looks to be most settled in their new system and a best benty will be sharing gols instead of getting them all and villa wont be big scorers so benty is no value anymore especially at his big price.

I need a bit of advice here - tthe season - terrible start to the season so far - WC played already (GW3-4) to follow the price rises, but alas my team is far from sorted.

    Vorm
    Jose Enrique Ward Bosingwa
    Walcott Arteta Silva Young
    Rooney Dzeko Ruiz

    SUBS
    Rudd
    Dyer

Far out I like your team. Your midfield looks strong, forwards are strong, with the exception of Ruiz at this point. Your defence is good but could use a minor upgrade I reckon. I also think you may need a better gaolkeeper, can't rely on Vorm all the time

            Yep.

But will do next Week as I still have a home GK this week, and with 0.3 in the bank I may downgrade someone to find funds to upgrade GK. Maybe Ruiz, or Walcott (if he doesn't produce this week).

Slightly interesting: RVP has scored 3 goals in the last 5 x Rovers vs Arsenal fixtures. Plus Rovers under Kean are awful.

I really am torn between the Silva vs RVP captaincy. Maybe RVP is the better option after all, with Silva (V)

So i have carter as kicker, he is now injured. I can not change my kicker until the 18th, so not only will i have a player not playing, i can not transfer him out and i can not change him as my kicker so i will not get any kick points this round. What a terrible rule.

i hope so - have just brought gabby in, having earlier dropped n'zogbia.

i think west brom will concede this w/e - swansea (sinclair and graham specifically) have to come off at some point.

Any comments on this team guys?

    Vorm (Mignolet)
Fabio Ward Brown N Taylor (Simpson)
    Arteta Silva Nani (Marveaux) (Moses)
    Dzeko Rooney RvP

Any obvious changes here? Playing the WC this week and no money in the bank atm. Vorm or Mignolet this week? Rooney as captain?

Since Rooney is starting a goal drought, failure to score against Benifca.
I have been looking at other options to transfer in on gameweek five.
I am wondering who is the best West Brom defender to get from gameweek five onwards?

I heard once that when a player doesnt score a goal in a tough away champions league game that they never score again.......

Latest draft of my wild card team. I should be called the tinkerman. Any thoughts on this? Planning to swap klasnic for Sturridge after this gameweek. I won't be playing the 2 Chelsea defenders this week but after that they've got great fixtures. I think City midfielders are less likely to be rotated than the forwards.

    Given Begovic

    Kompany Luiz Brown Warnock Bosingwa

    Nasri Wright-Phillips O'hara Dyer Silva

    Odemwingie Klasnic Rooney

I agree on City midfielders rotation but your defence is far too expensive, why have you got 2 chelsea and 2 villa defenders? Fail imo

waste having those particular two chelsea defenders in the team as it will be either one or the other playing imo.

mediocre strikeforce. yes you will score points with odem, sturridge or Klasnic but I think the strike force this year should consist of 2 high range strikers and a medium to cheap striker.

      Just my opinion

Don't like the look of it to be honest. You only really have 3 top notch captain options in Rooney, Silva and Nasri. A lot of money in defence, with only a handful of teams represented: Chelsea, Villa, City, Sunderland, Stoke. Also doesn't look like you'd have much flexibility to shift the team around if required. I feel you might regret not having a mid-high price forward; If Dzeko/Suarez go bezerk you'll be in trouble, but I guess you could look at that positively by the fact you have A LOT of differentials.

Seems you get critisized whenever you post anything other than a FFS standard RMT and look how much that did us in preseason. Don't think I've heard of anyone here gloating over their good start to the season, we've all had shockers!

Thx for opinions guys. Not captsining Rooney last 2 weeks has me playing catch up already 🙁

Luiz and Bosingwa both played last night and I read an article on here on how AVB is encouraging his centre backs to be more attacking. I know Terry will be back at the weekend, hopefully in the place of Ivanovic. Which of the two Chelsea defeneders would u rather keep? I got Bosingwa for 5.5 beginning of the season so a bit wary to drop him.

    Thinking about wildcarding.

    Team 1:

    given,ruddy
    Kompany,Taylor(swa),Simpson,Brown,Bosingwa
    Silva,Dyer(swa),Young,Obertan,Moses
    Rooney,Aguero,Adebayor

What are your thoughts on this team? Thinking about downgrading Aguero to Dzeko and upgrading my midfield or Adebayor to Suarez.
