The EA SPORTS PPI scores for Gameweek five are now available and the Fantasy Premier League bonus points have been awarded. Here’s a full breakdown of how they map out match by match. Look out for our round-up of the key factors that contributed to the awards over at the Scout column on the FPL site later today.

Aston Villa 1 Newcastle 1
Best 3, Agbonlahor 2, Tiote 2

Leon Best’s strike for the visitors was enough to see him fetch the 3 bonus points, with team-mate Cheik Tiote and Villa’s Agbonlahor returning identical PPI scores, the honours for the 2 bonus were shared. That denied Danny Simpson – he came in next in the PPI rankings.

Bolton 1 Norwich 2
Pilkington 3, Barnett 2, Morison 1

Anthony Pilkington and Leon Barnett grabbed the plaudits for Norwich at the Reebok and duly claimed the bonus points here – Pilkington’s goal and Barnett’s resolute defensive display earning them recognition. Steve Morison’s performance helped him earn a single bonus, with Martin Petrov Bolton’s leading performer trailing David Fox, Bradley Johnson and Russell Martin in the PPI stakes.

Blackburn 4 Arsenal 3
Yakubu 3, N’Zonzi 2, Arteta 1

Yakubu’s brace earns him the top overall EA Sports PPI score of the Gameweek with 47 – making him a clear front-runner for the maximum FPL bonus in this match. Steve N’Zonzi grabs the 2, with Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta earning a single bonus point for his goal and overall performance. The Spaniard edged out Junior Hoilett, Scott Dann and Gervinho who all notched up strong PPI scores.

Everton 3 Wigan 1
Jagielka 3, Hibbert 2, Vellios 2

As expected, Phil Jagielka earns the maximum here courtesy of his equalising goal and all-round defensive display. Tony Hibbert’s fine cross for the Vellios header has him collect the 2 and, with an identical PPI to the Greek, he shares the award. That meant that Royston Drenthe missed out on earning a single bonus point – he ranked next in the PPI scores for David Moyes’ men.

Fulham 2 Man City 2
Aguero 3, Murphy 2, Zamora 1

Sergio Aguero gathers another batch of bonus with his brace of goals for visiting City. Fulham’s fightback sees both goalscorers – Danny Murphy and Bobby Zamora earn recognition, with Clint Dempsey just outside the reckoning.

Man United 3 Chelsea 1
Nani 3, Young 2, Smalling 1

Few surprises here – Nani’s goal and assist were enough to see him as a clear PPI leader, leaving team-mates Ashley Young and Chris Smalling in his wake. Jonnny Evans and Wayne Rooney ranked next for the home side, with Jose Boswinga Chelsea’s top PPI performer on the day.

Sunderland 4 Stoke City 0
Gardner 3, Bramble 2, Larsson 1

As expected, three of Sunderland’s scorers dominate the PPI and FPL bonus. Craig Gardner narrowly edged out team-mates Titus Bramble and Seb Larsson, with Wes Brown ranking next for the victorious home side. Peter Crouch was beaten Stoke’s top PPI performer.

Swansea 3 West Brom 0
Lita 3, Dyer 2, Sinclair 1

A goal and an assist were enough to see Leroy Lita earn the maximum from this match – Scott Sinclair, whilst matching Lita’s output, presumably suffering a PPI penalty for several efforts off target. Nathan Dyer sandwiched these two for bonus points, as Swansea ran riot at the Liberty. Joe Allen and Ashley Williams were just outside the top three PPI rankings with Nicky Shorey the highest rated performer for the Baggies.

Tottenham 4 Liverpool 0
Adebayor 3, Modric 2, Defoe 1

A superb display, capped by two well-taken goals, saw Adeabyor amass an impressive PPI score in the win over Liverpool. No surprises to see him claim the maximum here then, with fellow goalscorers – Luka Modric and Jermain Defoe – picking up the remainder. Benoit Assou-Ekotto can count himself unlucky to miss out on bonus having put in a strong shift, while Jamie Carragher was the top PPI scorer for the forlorn visitors.

Wolves 0 QPR 3
Faurlin 3, Barton 2, Wright-Phillips 1

Faurlin’s fine strike for QPR’s second goal has him collect the three bonus, although, with Barton earning 2 – we might even see a change here. Barton appeared to assist Faurlin’s goal with both Wolves clearances occurring inside the penalty area before the Argentine converted his shot. Wright-Phillips picked up a single bonus as reward for another encouraging display in the free-role.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

When is the international break? Is it after GW 6 or GW 7?

If its after GW 6, you could have a one week gamble for this GW.
Was mainly thinking on for a forward slot, from the likes of Best, DJ or Torres even.

Though finding one week punts isn't that easy.. Any suggestion?

After gameweek 7. I have no intention of making transfers next week (unless injuries) so as to have 2 free for the break. Means I have to go for Nani this week even with Stoke away.

May hold onto WC a little longer.

    Aguero - EVE(H)
    Rooney - stk(A)
    Adebayor - wig(A)

The above seems to be the preferred frontline ATM.

I have none of this trio but with 2 freebies and 2m in the bank, theoretically I can get 1 or 2 of them. Is there any real need to change this frontline though?

    Dzeko - EVE(H)
    RVP - BOL(H)
    Suarez - WOL (H)

    Appreciate your thoughts fellow managers...

I like your front line and rate it every bit as good and could easily outscore everyiones prefered front line.

The only problemm if the prefered front line fir and you dont have any of them it would hurt as the majority of managers have them.

I have went with fixtures since day and it has not payed off thus far but RVP & suarez' fixtures are great in the next 6 i'd keep a hold IT.

I sold Suarez for Ade last night. Things just aren't clicking for Pool at the moment and Spurs have some cracking fixtures coming up. The 1.5 m difference is kinda handy too. Taking an 8pter (why the hell not!) to get a front line of:

          Nasri, Mata, Walcott, Hunt/Sinclair
          Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor

Sticking with Walcott as I'm hoping he'll come back in for Arshavin and Bolton are awful at the moment.

          Thanks both KOL and MMW.

Targeting a lucrative run of fixtures has really paid off for me in the past, in fact upon discovering this site in 2009/2010 it's a strategy I have rarely strayed from. I seem to remember it worked very well for you last season as well KOL.

I figured this gave me an edge over mini-league rivals as they would usually just try and fill their teams with top4 players regardless of difficult runs. However this season the "Form > Fixtures" philosophy has really paid off much to my dismay.

Think you've got to stick with those 3 this week IT. I assume you have a ManU midfielder as cover? Having Aguero is actually quite frustrating as you can never (c) him due to worries about him being benched!
Im not convinced about Adebeyor just yet. That said i could really do with Suarex to stop screaming at refs and actually put the ball in the net.

Nope. I've had no Man United cover since Nani in GW1.

        Terrible decision I know.

The way I see it, RVP and Suarez are nailed on starters at their clubs and they have a great fixture coming up. I really can't be tempted into getting rid of them. Dzeko however is another story.

Thanks for the advice and diddo on the Suarez comment.

    Given Ruddy
    Bosingwa Kompany Warnock Simpson Gabbidon
    Walcott Cahill Sinclair Brunt Hoolahan
    Rooney Dzeko Suarez

Im fairly happy at the back and up front but my midfield is dirt. Im gonna give Walcott another week and probably Brunt too as hes got a decent fixture and i reckon he will start next week.

    What do people think to:

    Cahill & Hoolahan -> Mata & Dyer

I know ill be doubling up on Swansea in midfield but one will pretty much always be benched.

Then the week after im thinking if Walcott & Brunt arent cutting it:

    Walcott & Brunt -> VDV & Petrov

I fancy going for VDV as a bit of a differential.

Yeah their not bad, i should say below about 5.5 then really.

Im just lost what to do in midfield at the moment. Whether to go for 2 big hitters and 3 around the 6m mark or 3 big hitters and 2 cheapies. Their seems so many options in big hitters category tho (Nani Young Silva Nasri Mata VDV Walcott etc.)

Suarez is priced correctly me-thinks. 4 goals and 5 assists in half a season last year are not exactly setting the world on fire, and Liverpool seem to mess up too many games.

Yeah, he's doing quite well, but it's still not an 11.0M+ level of output, so he is correctly priced back in the 9.5M region in my opinion, which is solid but not awesome and you should expect a decent amount of 1's and 2's for that price.

Good news from the physio's room at Newcastle.

Pardew confirmed French forward Hatem Ben Arfa will return to first team action in tomorrow night's Carling Cup test at Nottingham Forest after spending the weekend at the training ground working towards his comeback.

But he also revealed his big August signing from Inter Milan, Davide Santon, could be fit to be involved in Saturday's visit of Blackburn to St James' Park.

I assume Rooney would have featured on bonus were it not for that penalty horror show. One bit of dodgy turf, hitting the post and Berba not scoring an open goal meant Roon scored just 4 instead of a probable 20points. #frustrating

I'm a huge Liverpool fan, and I really don't get all this talk in the press about what a great job Kenny Dalgleish has done.

I mean Rafa Benitez was sacked when he was only taking us as far as the usual 4th/5th place battle for Champions League money, which is boring. Our squad wasn't that great either, but hey, that was RB's fault.

So Roy Hodgson takes over, makes a couple of horrific signings, (J Cole, Konchesky) and one ok signing, (Mereiles), and he then goes and acheives WELL BELOW the level at which his squad was capable of, by having us lose at home to Blackpool and Wolves, and be languishing in the bottom half.

He correctly then gets booted and Dalgleish comes in and 'improves' us back to the 4th/5th type side in terms of results over the second half of the season, and we improve back up to 6th by the end of the season after accounting for Hodgson's bad start. However, I was concerned at the time that all he was doing was reverting us back to the level that we were already at when Benitez left; a level that was not really good enough and earnt Rafa the sack for merely treading water too long.

Except KD has spent millions now, and made the side his own, and yet we are STILL just a 4th/5th place battler with no overall improvement from the 09/10 season where we were also a 4th/5th place battler under Rafa Benitez.

Roy Hodgson's dire 5 months should not have been allowed to lower expectations at Anfield in such a way, that KD's similar performance to Rafa Benitez gets lauded as a success.

    Anyone else agree?

True, but I've had this feeling since March really, as KD hasn't only just taken over.

Losing to Stoke and Spurs away from home is something that Rafa would have done. I've seen no real improvement in our away form since KD arrived, and this will continually keep us away from challenging for the title if we're only able to win 5 or 6 away games a season.

In my opinion, the Roy Hodgson debacle should be completely disregarded as an uncharacteristically poor period, where he acheived well below par, and really KD should be compared to where we were at at the end of RB's reign, and really, I don't see an awful lot of improvement there, as much as it pains me to say it.

I'm not a massive Liverpool follower so can't really comment to this on the same level as you can. But I am assuming that KDs success at the back end of last season will carry him through for a while before he gets put infront of the firing squad if this weeks performance persists. Which is unlikely. Start of the season I could see Lp ending up 3rd... I was wrong 😉

That's the thing though, he wasn't THAT awesome at the back end of last season. Results like 5-0 v Bolton, 5-1 v Fulham, and 3-0 v Man Utd can easily be countered by a poor end to the season where we lost a fair few games including defeats to Villa and Spurs, and we rounded out the season on a sour note, dropping below Spurs in the end.

I don't agree that expectations have been lowered necessarily, but clearly people are giving an allowance for the fact that there's been a fairly large turnover of personnel.. the new players are still finding their feet.

It's far too early to judge whether KD has simply restored the position under RB - we won't be able to do that until towards the end of the season. Certainly anything below 4th will be a massive disappointment but it takes time to turn things around, particularly when the other top teams are strengthening aswell.

Have a bit of patience! KD has brought a l=great deal of optimism back to Anfield, particularly with the rebuilt squad. But that squad needs a little more time before it can be properly judged.

Hmmm... what about our away form? It still really sucks and we will never be 1st/2nd/3rd with the away form like it is.

Last season we lost 11 away games, and this season it's 2 away defeats from 3 games already.

Our results at Anfield are decent.

It's nice to read a post from a Liverpool fan with a bit of perspective. So many fans I know think you have a chance of winning the league this year just because you have 'King Kenny'. I think 4th/5th is more realistic as you have said. There's too much manager worshipping going at Pool for my liking. He's really not that good.

I agree that currently it's not an overall improvement, just better relative to Roy... but that's only so far! Judging him 5 games in is harsh, as JSL says - give him a couple of months. There are a lot of new signings to knit and gel etc. Then we can judge.

However, this w/e LFC looked every inch a mish-mash of modestly-talented Blackpool, Sunderland, Villa etc players (no disrespect to those clubs), and not a Liverpool side with geniune top4 aspirations. Spurs are currently way ahead in my book...

      Early doors yet.

I don't think they play as well with Carroll in the side though.

Morning all - 2 free transfers and not sure what to do. Trying to avoid knee-jerking for the sake of it, but also wary of further price rises. Any suggestions?

    Given - Vorm
    Kompany - Bosingwa - Brown - Simpson - NTaylor
    Young - Silva - Brunt - Cabaye - Dyer
    Rooney - Suarez - Dzeko

Thats a pretty good team. I guess only Aguero hurt you. I would avoid it as Suerez will come good. Those 2 transfers could be useful next week.

I know that it's an armature Esq move that reeks of wagon jumping but I have done the dirty on Dzeko, even though I totally agree with some of the comments on here. The reasons being:

    1. Adebayor is a completely risk free from rotation IMO. With Aguero banging in the goals and Tevez on the fringes I seriously think that his minutes will drop off, nothing drastic but enough for me to consider his position. I just know that at some point I am going to get burnt with like I did last weekend.

    2. With the rotation risks that come with Dzeko ownership, making him your captain is a very risky punt. Therefore seen as he is to much of a gamble why not consider a safer option who you actually feel comfortable in captaining.

    3. Carrying out the transfer allows me to get rid of Walcott and bring in Mata, given this weekends performances that's no brainer.

Sorry for the ramble but I think I had to justify it to myself if I am honest lol!

Thinking of ditching the useless Jarvis for a QPR mid next week.

    Barton, SWP or Taarabt...

    Begovic (Ruddy)
Baines, Kompany, Bosingwa (R.Taylor , Simpson)
    Jarvis, Moses, Brunt, Walcott (Sinclair)
    Rooney, RVP, Sturridge

    0.7 in bank

    A) RVP -> Aguero
    B) Sturridge and Baines -> Aguero and 4.1 defender (4 point hit)
    C) Walcott -> Nasri
    D) Baines and [Jarvis/Brunt/Sinclair] -> Silva/Nasri and 4.9/5.2 defender (4 point hit)
    E) Other

    Opinions on these options. Thanks

Why on earth would you get Torres?
        Because he scored one goal?
