While the title alludes to a debate on the merits of Kevin Campbell and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, it is instead a new podcast spilling with words on the Fantasy Football craze that’s taken the nation by storm – buy cheap at the back, buy big up front.

It’s working, in fact it’s working rather too well. Can it continue? Mark and I lay the subject down, cut it open and sift through the giblets to offer our post mortem. Messy stuff.

Elsewhere, the minutes are filled with more discussion on the fixtures vs form argument, with the usual regulars scattered liberally.

    Team at the moment is:

    Given
    Bosingwa Gabbidon Kompany
    Moses Sinclair Sessegnon Silva
    Suarez RVP Rooney

    subs: Vorm, Simpson, De Laet, Formica

    I've 2 freebies and £1.2m in the bank. As i see it my best options are:

    A Kompany/Sessegnon - Mata/£4.1m DEF (Taylor, Lopez)
    B Kompany/Sessegnon/Formica - Brown/Mata/Faulin or Obertan
    C De Laet/Sessegnon/Suarez - Brown/Mata/£7.1m FOR (Agbonlahor, Zamora or Bendtner)

    I don't really want to sell any of my strikers this week as Suarez and RVP have decent fixtures and Rooney seems undropable at present. However, as you can see i fancy getting Mata this week and the only other way i can see of doing it is to sell Kompany and Sessegnon and replace them with 2 cheapies.

    Option A means no points hit which is good but my defence would then look fairly rubbish with Taylor or Lopez. Option B includes a 4 point hit but i would be able to get a slightly better defender (Brown or Bramble) by replacing Formica with Faulin/Obertan.

    What ya reckon? A, B or C or summat completely different? I'm all ears!

      i was trying to get mata in too but it was crippling the rest of my team so i have given up. he hasn't actually done that much so far. i even considered merelies as an alternative (albeit, only briefly)

            Yeah i'm really not keen on that either. It's just really hard to raise significant cash without selling 1 of my 3 strikers or Silva.

            Not idea on merelies tbh, best off asking one of the chelsea lads. I fancy us not to lose on Saturday. We've got a good record at SJP so i reckon a score draw.

      this week A is your best option if you reallly want mata. i would suggest do a, possible get taylor (good for swa home games) and then play simpson for this gw

      you really don't want to take a 4 point hitter when there's no guarantee it'll pay off...to be completely honest with you i don't think there's too much a need for mata as of yet...i would rather find a way to upgrade moses and dg formica to dyer two clear weak links. Kompany will deliver so u might regret getting rid of him and potentially sess might if u give him 1 more week, if he doesn't u have options like swp, cabaye etc. etc.

      Cheers boys. I think you may be right. Mata's probably not that urgent although i do worry about having zero chelsea attacking cover. Perhaps just work on improving my midfield this week and save the freebie

      Alot of people seem to be getting rid of Suarez too, and i'm not too sure why. They should win comfortably this week, if i had Suarez he would be my captain!

            I will not suggest you to get suarez for a pt hit though. Both Bent and Suarez are not in great form as of now, but sure they will come good this week. ALso Bent has got really good fixtures ahead. If u really want to sell Bent, then get aguero/ rooney if you dont have them already.

        Hmmmmm.

        Add in the 56k who are ditching Dzeko thus far and you esentially have 150,000 bringing in Adebayor.

            Dzeko makes a bit more sense though considering he was dropped after his 4 goals and Aguero has really took the gloss off his start to the season. I can see why people are ditching him.

            The Suarez thing is a bit more of a mystery.

              It's simply due to rooney and aguero's form. Then you are choosing from 1 or 2 strikers from a pool of 5 great picks.

                Indeed. Not having Rooney and Aguero right now is not optimal and there are great picks for that 3rd slot but it doesn't explain why someone would ditch Suarez this week (one of the 5 great picks)?

          Consider me one of the crazy ones, I did Suarez to Adebayor. I had to do it this week with next weeks transfer & pricing in mind. Fact is, things haven't been going his way and Liverpool are by no means in top form and have only impressed against depleted Arsenal and Bolton who're usually crap away from home.
          It may and probably will hurt if Suarez outscores him significantly this week, but I wouldn't fancy having him for everton away and Man U home so i'm looking at the bigger picture.
          I'd say the points potential of Suarez and Ade are pretty even this weekend. And if it turns out to be a massive mistake I get him back by GW9 for some juicy fixtures.

    I am planning to get rid of Brunt/ Anderson this week. To me Anderson is just a 2 pointer and its really wise to have Nani/Young if you need someone from Midfield in Man utd.

    and Brunt, I got him blindly just cos he takes penalty and the main man for WBA and but it doesnt look like now.

    I will eventually get rid of both, but its very important who i chop this week? any suggestions here

      I don't really get Brunt. I have him. First off he seemed a certain starter and a decent FPL prospect. Then he gets dropped. Then Dorrans gets pens. Then he takes and scores a pen having played 90 mins.

      If you have nani/young, then get rid of Anderson. Brunt has a good run of games coming up so expect him to provide a goal or 2 and some assists.
      Maybe change Anderson to either Barton or SWP depending on ur available money.

          Hmm tricky one, I think he will def be playing but mayb only provide the standard 2 points, whereas if you change him to SWP if you got the cash, you may get more. I would keep brunt for now, more possibility of goals/assists with his fixtures.

    sooooo happy right now!!

    Just got back from my game a while ago.
    We were 1-0 in the first 20 seconds. But we came back to win 2-1 from an amazing 25 yard goal.

    They're 2 divisions above us as well.
    Good times.

            the worry is mata is silva 12 months ago, whereas silva is silva... well now.
            i hope not, like the torres purchase earlier in the season this is effectively buying/trusting chelsea as much as it is buying mata, as it's trusting chelsea to start scoring well

                a lot of it is i'm not sure about a defence with gabbidon, de laet and a 4.1 defender. kompany has 3 big clean sheet opportunities in the next 5 (seeing as man city get lots at home, 2 out of 2 this season).

                  Yep, getting Mata would leave me woefully short at the back. Plus dumping Suarez is a more attractive proposition next week so hopefully i can make better use of 2 freebies.

    thoughts on these trades?

    A) Suarez to Aguero but to afford him I need to do either:

    Or of course stick firm, hope Suraez bags a double on the weekend and Ageurro gets rested and then do the Suarez to Aguero trade at no points loss due to the likely 200,000 swing in transfers?

        Yep, he's the only stand out choice in that midfield at the moment. But it may also be a decent long term move looking at Chelsea's fixtures. Each of the next 6 are very winnable.

          They should but they aren't playing great anyway so could be tougher than people think. I fancy Suarez to do well this week so go with him, rotation is a possibility but i don't see it.

    First time I didn't captain Rooney last week, captained RVP instead. Didn't work out too great, going to captain Suarez this weekend. I think there's probably a chance I'll do better, but maybe Suarez is starting to tire at this point?
