A favourable upcoming run of fixtures for Newcastle elevates Yohan Cabaye onto our updated Watchlist.

The summer signing from French champions Lille is starting to find his feet in the more frenetic Premier League and is becoming more integral to Newcastle’s style of play as the games go by. His burgeoning central midfield relationship with Cheik Tiote is beginning to click into place and while the Ivorian offers steel and solidity to the Newcastle centre, Cabaye’s passing ability and willingness to drive forward and take a shot is slowly but surely coming to fruition.

Last Saturday’s performance at Aston Villa is indicative of his growing influence – Cabaye hit the woodwork and had more attempts on goal than any player in Alan Pardew’s side in the 1-1 draw. In terms of creativity, he shone, too; only Juan Mata presented more goal scoring opportunities to his respective team mates in the Gameweek gone by.

Newcastle’s unbeaten start to the campaign and strong defensive displays mean Pardew’s side have conceded just two goals so far- the tightest defence in the top-flight- and Fantasy investment has resultantly been limited to their defence in the main. It’s understandable – with just four goals scored, they have yet to demonstrate a real cutting edge going forward but as Cabaye begins to pull the strings, an upturn in goal returns for the Toon Army faithful can surely be expected.

Joey Barton’s departure to QPR further stands the Frenchman in good stead- with set-piece duties in the bag, Cabaye will provide plenty threat with his impressive delivery.

With four home games in the next six (BLA, wol, TOT, WIG, stk, EVE) he should be afforded plenty opportunity to present himself as a strong mid-price option and coming in at just 6.0, he’s crept under the radar so far, with just 1.4% of Fantasy managers willing to take a punt.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

to go into next week with no Man Utd cover against an east anglian side would be foolish.

this is the kind of thing that can happen when those from the Angles visit the North West

Rooney is the best bet. Penalties, every bugger has him as well. If he scores well and you don't at least have him then its going to be a depressing old week for you.

Although if Rooney gets injured in the first minute and you have nani as your captain...well, its going to be a rum old week for you.

    All,

    Need some help.

Really want to do Arteta > Mata this week but to afford it I need to do either:

    a. Brunt > Dyer
    b. Taarabt > Ben Arfa (another mid up to £5.4m)

    Have £0.3m in too.

Which is better from a and b?

    Cheers!!

:). Nice line Fratboy. I was being sarcastic Stilicho, because twitter is, to me, a source of never ending mis-information.

Sadly, managers are not as accommodating this season as Anchovy last season, when he'd pretty much spell out his starting 11 by Fri pm.

Fair enough. But they get aggregated on here come Fri pm anyway.

The real question is, Jarvo away (LIV) or De Laet home (SUN)?

    1. Play Moses (TOT) or O’Hara (wol)

      1) Moses.
      2) Ruddy.
      3) Real tough choice, probably Aguero for form, but if City are winning comfortably, I see him being replaced fairly early to preserve him for Bayern.

Connor... 1) go home over away, that's the percentage play. 2) Again, home over away, that's the percentage play, and the fact you're asking suggest you are happy to rotate. 3) Must be Aguero or Rooney of those 4, and I'd go home over away.

Thanks both. was leaning towards Moses...but undecided for the other two. Weirdly both Given and Rooney (despite both being away from home) seem safer bets. Norwich could easily concede against a Sunderland team that just scored 4...and Aguero could be rested to save for Champs league...

Stili, only if the plan is to rotate. I got Vorm in purely as cheap back-up, and it's only because he's scored so well that many are thinking of rotating him in. I play Given come hell or high water (give or take) because I believe AV will remain tight at the back all season.

all a bit pointless as it's basically saying 'hehe, it's -1 instead of ... -1'
think i'll stick to the -1 squared to baffle

Yeah, but you posted (+1)^3 when you meant "-1".

Having Hernandez and Dzeko instead of Rooney and Aguero would free up so much cash it's ridiculous. Must stay strong.

I'm sticking with Dzeko over Aguero, partly for the cash reason, but I think Hernandez over Rooney is a step too far, with the threat from Welbeck. Rooney is just a machine at the moment.

hernandez, dzeko and adebayor is dirt cheap and potentially great. just the issue of no pens, the manchester duo not nailed on and in genreal just not quite as good as aguero and rooney.
also not too many mids screaming out to spend the money on instead

So, im new to this totalfpl/Fiso price rise thing. Which is more accurate ? Young is at 106 on fiso and 72-92 on Totalfpl
Also, Nani is at 37 in fiso, and was on -28 before his game against Chelsea. So, any chance he rises as alot of people will be transferring tomorrow? I'm thinking most people that transfer later on are more serious and wouldn't be bringing him in before Stoke away, right?

The stuff about nani is all true.

I personally trust Fiso a lot more, they changed the target NTI last night which might be why Young is showing up as higher on Fiso. Totalfpl dont seem to react as quickly

Either are good choices, could go either way. I guess Dzeko has proven potential for higher hauls, but there's probably higher risk of getting less than 90 minutes. I'm tempted by Mata just because i'm getting him in this week.

Im trying to make a bit of a long-term team and my main problem are the strikers.

    3 expensive ones > 10 - Rooney, Aguero, RvP

3 moderately expensive > 8 - Dzeko, Suarez, Adebayor (who is indicating he will be big hit if he keeps his form)

2 reasonably priced - Zamora and Agbonlahor (with 2 of the forwards injured he will surely get the spotlight)

I know it depends on the fixtures, form, home/away balance, but I'd really like to hear some of your thoughts about it. Is having 2 top strikers a smart thing since you cannot invest in middlefield that much? How big a gamble is relying on Man City forwards given frequent lineup changes and big depth?
