Swansea made history last week, as Scott Sinclair blasted from the spot a goal that marked the first scored in the Premier League outside of England. It’s also befitting that his conversion brought our first win in the Fantasy Flutter.

Each week we take a crisp ten sheet to our friends at Paddy Power as they whip up special markets, with prices aligned to Fantasy managers’ thinking. We may not be ready to retire to Tahiti quite yet off the back of Sinclair’s winnings, but, at the same time, we have our tails up going into this weekend’s offerings from our bookie buddies.

And tasty offerings they are, with Ryan Taylor and Yohan Cabaye priced up to continue Newcastle’s impressive start to the season against Blackburn, joined by Chelsea new boy Juan Mata at home to Swansea and the reborn Shaun Wright-Phillips at home to Villa. Read on to find out how the markets shape up this week…

Last gameweek saw perhaps one of the most ridiculous games of football the Premier League has seen to in quite some time. Arsenal scored five goals to Blackburn’s two, yet lost the game four-three. Credit is certainly due to Junior Hoilett and Yakubu, who turned in exceptional performances for Rovers, but the limelight was stolen by Arsenal’s shoddy defending. Are Blackburn then a side on the up? Or were they just in the right place at the right time?

Our first two bets rest squarely on the answer to this question, with Rovers at St James’ Park on Saturday. Newcastle’s Ryan Taylor has only netted once this year, with a curling right footed curler from outside the box in Tyne and Wear derby. Paddy are offering 12/1 to replicate that strike and score from a free-kick, and with Blackburn conceding three even when they win, it’s an easy Β£1 stake for us.

Next up is Yohan Cabeye – an unknown prospect for a good deal of Fantasy managers, the Frenchman has been unfortunate not to have registered more strongly on our Fantasy radars so far. Growing performances, highlighted in Sir Paulos’ recent Watchlist article, and a strong scoring record in France, suggest that Cabaye could be close to opening his account. Paddy have handed us some tempting odds for midfielder to score from outside the box and to score and have an assist, but Cabeye to notch anytime at 4/1 is a must for us with a Β£2 stake.

Shaun Wright-Phillips has spent the majority of the last two seasons gathering cobwebs on the Man City bench. In only two games he has not only blown those cobwebs away, but rekindled some of the quality he displayed in his first City, many moons ago. His pace and goal threat have been in evidence and clearly guaranteed starts at QPR have given his confidence a massive boost. Aston Villa’s ageing defence could struggle to keep up with his tireless energy and Paddy are offering 14/1 to score a goal and assist, which deserves Β£2. In fact, we’re so confident in Wright-Phillips this week, we’re going to place a further Β£3 on him to score anytime at 100/30.

We have come now full circle to our aforementioned history makers Swansea City, or at least Juan Mata’s potential in opposition. Although the Swans have only netted three this season, they have looked pretty tight at the back, battling to two nil-nil draws during their opening four game goal drought. However they have looked consistently weak when they’ve had to cross the misty Severn bridge and play on English soil. Juan Mata is set to take advantage of that, and with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Fernando Torres hovering with intent, an assist for the Spaniard also seems a worth prospect. Paddy’s market ‘Juan Mata to score and assist’ at 11/2 seems worth a punt for our final couple of quid.

Superstars Money Back Special!

Paddy’s relentless quest to refund our money continues this week with a “Superstars Special”. If Rooney, Aguero, Ronaldo or Messi scores two or more goals in their games, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on that match.

Bet Β£10 Get Β£20

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free Β£20 when you register and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

I finally got Aguero and immediately handed him the armband.

    Is it the right decision..??

The armband had actually been with Rooney for the whole week.

I don't think it's worth the hit, Mata is unproven in fantasy terms and Swansea look good defensively, Dzeko in great form at home to an Everton team that played 120 mins midweek.

Could be good progressively over the long term, but not worth the 4 pt hit.

In Bangkok, it's about time to lunch.. So, I'd like to ask question about Brunt..

He played 120 minutes on mid-week and scored PK for WBA. Do you think if he'd get start in first team or in the bench today..?

Should I start Brunt or others from my bench ? Dyer's potential at Chelsea should be less than Brunt.

    Krul (Vorm)
    Bosingwa - Kompany - Simpson
    A.Young - Silva - Moses - Brunt
    Rooney - Adebayor - Aguero

      Nice team.
Brunt not first choice penalty taker but depends on who is on pitch at the time.
Close call between Dyer and Brunt to start.
Personally I would play dyer ahead of him. Reason is that Chelsea have only kept 1 clean sheet (first game of season) and I reckon that game has goals in it.

But its really a toss up...

I heard someone said Roy Hodgeson means "Dorrans was first choice in that specific game". He didn't mean first choice of the club.

Btw, we don't know until the next PK. I will keep hoping to see Brunt repeats it again.. πŸ˜€

The good news for Brunt's owners is .. Odemwingie and Dorrans were there on the pitch when Brunt took PK. I think I can hope to see him for this responsibility more.. πŸ˜€

Your point about Dyer is interesting too as I think he and his Swansea is in good form.
But away game to Chelsea should have been more tough than Fulham at home.

        I have a nice solution:
Get in SWP for Brunt. Scouts have backed him big time and his stats look good from the free role and set pieces he is getting.
Plus it gives you an interest in the only match tomorrow while you slug a Singha! And villa defence isnt what it was!

Keep in mind I also have Warnock in def for Villa, but also that he's doubtful (75% chance of playing though).

Can't see QPR not scoring at home with all the firepower at their disposal, but WBA aren't great defensively.

I wouldn´t worry, he won´t play much. Even if he does it won´t be that kind of game, Everton will play deep, and Dzeko will get the scoring service and Aguero will have to come back for balls at his feet. End result should be Dzeko with about a goal and assist. Also watch for Yaya blasting forward if DeJong is inserted again.

Play Brown (nor) or Baines (mcy)? Playing Larsson and Ruddy. NOR have only scored 1 in 2 home games while MCY have yet to concede at home in 2. I'm thinking Brown's defensive points prospects over Baines attacking prospects but would appreciate thoughts.

I'm not sure I agree with this line of thinking. I rate the prospects for each week and if another player has better prospects, I play him, irrespective of price.

MCY are defensively strong so possibly lack of EVE attacking points. MCY likely to score so probably no EVE defensive points with added possibility of conceding goals minus points.

Maybe I should drop my punt on Brunt and play both Baines and Brown?

The great thing about forums is you can agree and disagree.

I have Baines and will play him every week he is in my team regardless of opposition. I think Everton may sneak a goal at City this week with Mancini's men perhaps thinking about CL game mid week? Also, Everton has this habit of performing woefully against teams they are expected to beat and well against the "big" clubs.

Furthermore, a lot of Baines owners will have sold him this week given the tough fixtures coming up, playing him may prove a nice differential.

Replace him with Larsson. Same team and fixtures but better option fantasy wise.

Ok last question people. Thanks for the help.

    Mata for Nasri,

Right folks who should I sub, Gabbidon(AVL) or Johnson(SUN)? I'm thinking Johnston because I fancy QPR for a clean sheet and the Norwich - Sunderland game to be tight, what do you think?

I think your thinking is spot on. Of the two of them Norwich are more likely to concede.

Villa are without Bent and Heskey. Their MF is lightweight compared to QPR's, think QPR will be all over them.

Cheers my friend. πŸ˜‰ Just a bit concerned Gabbidon won't play and Johnston may sneak an assist or something. I think you are right though.

Nothing you can do about it if Gabs doesn't play, but at least if you start him and he doesn't play then Johnson will come on for you.

And you can then count the minutes on Sunday until Sunderland get the inevitable weekly penalty against Norwich.

Heskey being injured is a good thing for Villa πŸ˜‰

Yes but they're not exactly brimming with attacking options are they and Petrov has already been moaning about their lack of offense under McLeish. So has Bent.
