Chelsea’s kind run of upcoming fixtures bodes well for Andre Villas-Boas’ side as they look to recover from last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

While Villas-Boas’ quick passing game and personnel decisions rapidly lessen the importance of previous Fantasy favourites such as Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda, Juan Mata’s role in the new-look Chelsea side grows ever more crucial with each passing fixture.

It’s impossible to say just what effect the failed bid for Luka Modric has had on Villas-Boas’ thinking in terms of team set-up and structure but at present, it’s clear that Mata’s creative streak will be at the hub of Chelsea’s attacks. The somewhat unfortunate loss at the hands of Man United saw Mata involved throughout- he presented more goalscoring opportunities last week than any other player across the ten league fixtures.

Crucially, Mata even seems to have leapt ahead of Lampard in the queue for set-pieces; he took all of Chelsea’s corners in the first half at Old Trafford (ie, when Lampard was on the pitch) and it was his direct free-kick that eventually led to John Terry’s goal at Sunderland a couple of weeks back.

Two goals in four games are indicative of his eye for goal and quick integration to his new side and with (SWA, bol, EVE, qpr, ARS, bla) up next for the Blues, Mata will be key as Villas-Boas’s side look to step up their chase of the champions. While the Chelsea forwards also offer little form or certainty of game time, Mata -at 9.5 in FPL- is presenting quite a case for himself as the Blues attacking player of choice as the new campaign continues to unfold.

I am pondering the same question.

Arsenals fixtures are so inviting it is difficult to justify losing Walcott, but if he isn't going to start every game the decision becomes easy.

Given Arsenal's home fixture against Bolton, I would be nervous of taking Walcott out this week. It looks like a straight punt on the outcome of two matches so you could end up lucky.

      Is Walcott your only concern?

The risk of Walcott not starting every game is a concern. 9m tied up in a possible rotation risk has me ready to make the change.

Guys - which is a better midfield and strikeforce for the next 2/3 gameweeks?

Silva, Arteta, Young, Dyer, Ben Arfa
    Van Persie, Anelka, Adebayor

    OR:

    Silva, Arteta, Young, Dyer, Obertan
    Aguero, Suarez, Adebayor

Trying to get Chelsea coverage a little as they have got some easy (theoretically) gameweeks coming up. Or, would Mata be a better shout?

    Hi guys

Need some advice, have a front 3 of Rooney, Dzeko and Suarez

I am bringing in Adebayor for Dzeko but would you take Suarez out for Aguero? It would mean I would have to sacrifice Anderson to a 4.5m mid, only thing putting me off is the 8pt hit and possibly Suarez scoring big after 2 crap weeks

    Thoughts?

Why not keep your striking line up as it is this week? It's a hard one to call but I would have thought Dzeko would play this weekend, although with Mancini you never quite know. Suarez, by all accounts, has been unlucky in the last two gws and has got Wolves at home this week. Plus, Rooney is on fire and if you ever need someone to nick a scrappy goal at Stoke it's Rooney when he's in this form.

Reply fail. Just saw that you're getting rid of Dzeko anyway, which was the only slightly dodgy striker you've got. I'd sit on Rooney and Suarez for this week. Don't just take my word for it though, I'm only on 246 points!

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I've got two transfers and I'm going to do:

Baines and De Laet > A Ferdinand and Shorey. Now this is playing the fixtures and freeing up funds to do either Walcott > Mata or Dzeko to Aguero next week.

It just feels like a really bad move, could someone talk me down please?

I'm going with Petrov over Moses.

Will play Moses however if I bottle out on spending 4 to get Mata.

yes, makes more sense to me to field petrov too and think I will leave it like that, but I really hope Moses does well even if I bench him

the only thing that would make me choose young instead of nani is rotation, but at current form he should be in the team anyways, so nani for me, regardless of difference in price and ownership

Any 4.1 defs (not Newc) with any attacking potential? Getting rid of De Laet. Also got Boyata.

Tierney, if you don't mind swopping one NOR defender for another, or Taylor (Swa)

Thanks, but do either of them offer any attacking potential? Neither has an assist or goal yet.

Both full backs, so some latitude for attacking forays down the wing to produce crosses.

Not sure you can genuinely expect much more from a 4m defender than that to be honest.

Shorey 4.5 WBA has an assist and nice fixtures if you can stretch to that?

I’m one of those who haven’t had Rooney this season. Still, I didn’t dare not to have any attacking United player, so I went for Young, and at the same time prioritizing very badly amonst the strikers, much like Mark (Torres, Bent, RvP). The question is: Should I swap Young for Mata now, hoping for help from Chelsea to get me back on my feet in the mini league, or does it maybe seem rather stupid to drop the only United player of mine at the moment, seeing as they surely could score many goals in any game and it would be a shame not to get a piece of that action?

I too, have only got Young from Utd. But i've traded him for Mata. This gives me the funds to do RVP to Rooney next week for their home game with Norwich....

    Starting 2 of these:
    W.Brown away vs. Norwich
    Moses home vs. Spurs
    M.Petrov away vs. Arsenal

Was starting Brown & Petrov, but Marks comments on the podcast made me reconsider Moses.
    Any thoughts?

2 free transfers and not sure where to use them, so any suggestions would be very welcome!

    Krul, (Vorm)
Bosingwa, Enrique, Brown, S Taylor, (Woodgate)
Mata (vc), Silva, Brunt, (Dyer, Jarvis)
    RVP (c), Rooney, Adebayor

Ideally looking to use one, so I can sort RVP and Brunt/Jarvis out next week should they do badly again. Thanks!

So, initially assumed that it would take a point hit to get Walcott out for Mata, but....

Would you swap De Laet for Enrique, for a point hit? Or would you start De Laet in the hope he plays, with Brown (nor) first defender sub...

I'd start Brown over De Laet anyway, but Walcott to Mata is much more worth the hit than on a defender.

Probably over 50% chance that a hit for enrique would mean a free tranfer to a better defender as your net point profit will be 1 or 2 points whatever you do

Playing Brown against Norwich away is fine. Hits on defenders rarely work out.

Still debating Walcott > Mata for a hit. Quite worried that Walcott will be benched again.

I have the same choice. Nzogbia out for Mata for 4 points.

Another negative is that if I bring in Mata, either Petrov or Moses gets benched.

Alright, cheers lads. Brown it is! Enrique can wait for a couple of weeks, hopefully for when I have a free transfer.
